SARAH PALIN OR NOBODY.

I hope he goes full stop and picks someone like Palin this time around. Mitt's hypocrisy and wimpyness have been entertaining enough, but what I really want is some good old fashioned, pure, unfiltered stupidity/insanity.

So does anybody here like Ryan?

He isn't the worst candidate that could be chose (hello McCain), but he's basically going to send the independents that could sway running for the hills. Ryan's plan is probably the worst idea coming out of the tea party movement because a good amount of republicans actually supported it.

Paul Ryan would be disastrous. I'd love it.

I haven't been paying much attention to PoliGAF this past two weeks. Is he seriously looking like the pick? Or was that a joke.

The speech is taking place in front of the USS Wisconsin.

Paul Ryan is a senator from Wisconsin.

COINCIDENCE? I THINK NOT

Rob Portman personally screwed over my friend in high school when he forgot to write him a letter of recommendation for the USAFA even though he was an alum from our high school and was involved in our Model Congress/Senate group, which again, my friend was an officer for.

Fuck him.

It will be Ryan and no he didn't pick him the GOP did it for him or rather they're forcing him on Romney. He's a darling of the right with his backwards budgets and he survived a recall, this is his prize.

Not up to snuff with the fellow. What's wrong with this dude?

The GOP budget would cut Medicaid funding for states by 34 percent by 2022; it would make 22 percent cuts to state and local budgets in other areas, causing a reduction of $28 billion in state funding by 2014 and a total of $247 billion in cuts by 2022, CBPP found. That would cause decimating cuts to state education programs like Head Start and Title I (high poverty) schools; housing programs that provide rental assistance to the poor; health programs like the Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) grants and Community Health Centers; and public safety programs that help hire police officers and firefighters.

“In theory, policymakers could spare state and local funding and take all of the required cuts from purely federal areas of non-defense discretionary spending,” CBPP writes. “In reality, there is no chance that would occur, as it would entail extremely deep cuts” to programs like veterans’ health benefits and Social Security that aren’t likely to get the axe.

He's the literal embodiment of the tea party. And he wants to give a shit ton of tax breaks to the wealthy.

The one good thing about Ryan.

Unlike many GOP fools nowadays when he shoots down a bill he actually presents something in return instead of just stalling to fuck Obama and the nation as a whole.

That said he Romney would be such a train wreck as pres no vp choice could get me to consider him.

The saddest part about this is, this is now the only thing I know about Rob Portman.

Not up to snuff with the fellow. What's wrong with this dude?

Quoting myself from PoliGAF:

The Ryan Plan cuts the entire government except for entitlements and defense.

Seriously, it cuts the non-entitlement budget to 3.75% of GDP and increases the defense budget, which has never been less than 3% of GDP. That leaves...basically nothing.

You can't get more fiscally conservative than "CUT ALL THE THINGS."

http://www.cbpp.org/cms/index.cfm?fa=view&id=3708

edit: Oh, yeah, it ALSO cuts Medicare and Social Security, but it does that in a separate part of the plan.

For conservatives, putting Ryan front and center will satisfy their desire to have a full-throated debate about the entire spectrum of issues that they feel are most pressing: the size of the federal government, the government's role in people's lives, the impact of the national debt on the middle class, and how to maintain a social safety net without creating a "culture of dependency" in which too many citizens receive government benefits.

Trying to do this is the middle of a huge economic downturn when many people rely on assistance LMAO Romney

Seriously, Romney could not have picked anybody more likely to energize both bases.

I could see Ryan destroying Biden in the debates, but on balance, I think he will turn off most of the middle. When it comes down to it, even most of the Right likes the New Deal as it affects them and their parents.
