what better way to re-enforce Mitt Romney`s problem connecting with average people with average problems by selecting one of the most cold hearted, sniviling, uncaring tea partyier in the GOP as his running mate

Ryan wants to replace medicare with private insurance coupons to pay for millionaire tax cuts

edit: seriously.

This and his idea of reducing tax brackets to only 10% and 25%.
Even after thinking and re-thinking it through, it continues to be hair-brained at best.

It wasn't change based on introspection or new information. It was a change based on political gamesmanship. 7 years prior, he's singing her praise, handing out copies of her books for Christmas, and saying she was the reason he got into politics. Once he's actually a visible political player on the national stage and draws scrutiny from Catholic leaders, magically is tone changes. Saying "It’s an atheist philosophy" and comparing his philosophy to that of a Catholic priest is too convenient given the source of the complaints.
He isn't so much changing his ideology as rejecting the parts that are politically inconvenient.
Unless you two have something more than your own speculation on this, I don't take it to be anything more than what you've shown it to be.

Yeah yeah Paul Ryan. Let's at least entertain ourselves.

How about Gingrich? "Dreaded rivals join forces to save the country from Obama". On paper, and in the numb thoughts of GOP pundits, he would give the Romney Administration a boost in "creditably"(rather the illusion of it) on the foreign policy/God/guns front.

Don't doubt the limits of republican desperation or how ridiculous this all can get(is).

Ryan dosen't turn Wisconsin. He hurts Romney in Wisconsin.

Actually, not exactly.

An analysis by Nate Silver of The New York Times finds that a running mate nets an additional two percentage points, give or take, to his or her home state. So if a race is tight, that could be decisive. In the current veepstakes, an analysis of polls by the Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling shows that of nearly three dozen potential VP candidates tested in 15 states since mid-May, “none helps Romney improve his position better in the potential running mate’s home state than Ryan in Wisconsin,” the political website Daily Caller reports.

A PPP poll of Wisconsin taken in early June showed Obama beating Romney 50 percent to 44 percent. But with Ryan on the ticket, Obama’s lead dropped to just one percentage point.

You just have to look at a lot of the shit he was receiving at the time from the religious right. He got a bunch of shit from them when the Ayn Rand thing broke, a week or so later he goes back on what he said a year ago. It was purely pressure.

Wait, it really IS Ryan?

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA

Thank you, Jebus! Not as great a pick as Bachmann, but he'll do quite well.

Kiss Florida goodbye Mittens, you horrendously incompetent pandering twit.

As if Obama didn't have enough ammunition against Romney's campaign.

Yeesh, Paul Ryan's big economic plan is downright horrifying.

Best part is there is NO chance of running away from it, he proposed it twice and both times the entire GOP went on record of being 100% behind it. The ads right themselves.

Yeah, just a crazy coincidence.

At least you could pinpoint a change in tone from, say, Kerry, once it was learned that what got us into Iraq was bullshit. There's been no change in tone from Ryan or policy changes that would suggest he's actually changed anything.

Hope my fellow dumbass wisconsinites don't vote for him now just because of Ryan. No problem calling them dumbasses because they voted to keep Walker in office.

Ryan lol. Romney pushed his chips all in. He's more concerned with being accepted by Republicans than with winning the election.

I know it's a long shot, but do you guys think that the GOP higher-ups are starting to consider telling their delegates to fuck around at the nominating convention?

I mean, the GOP cannot think this is a good idea. It almost reeks of them setting up the person they want to be the GOP poster boy for 2016...

Haha, the Daily Kos's headline was

"Romney to announce GOP's 2016 front-runner in Virginia tomorrow morning"

Obama's response to this news is gonna be a video that just consists of him laughing uncontrollably for twenty minutes straight.

The GOP lost their mind when they back the tea party and went all in. There's no going back for them.

Edit: If Romney loses this race spectacularly and polls suggest it was Ryan that helped cause it he won't be anywhere near the 2016 ticket. Republicans only went with Romney because they knew he was only the only somewhat legit candidate. If they really wanted a tea party crazy they had other options.

Like, think about it. If you could choreograph a Herman Cain comeback at the convention somehow (I know it'll never happen, but still) imagine how much momentum it'd give the GOP and completely screw over the Obama campaign?

It'll never happen but if it was possible to be done quietly, whew... talk about completely changing the landscape of this election.

Not really sure what most of you guys are talking about in here. Romney needs to energize the conservative base

In presidential politics, you appeal to the center to win, not the extremes. The extremes are already voting for you. It's the mass of middles and undecideds who win an election.

Are you completely out of your mind. It would completely destroy what's left of the GOP. The voters would feel disenfranchised and they would be putting their senate/house seats in jeopardy.

And to think there are strong rumors swirling about a prime time slot for Donald Trump at the convention. This ought to be crazy.

Yeah. I'm reading too much political fiction lately, haha. Realized it was stupid the moment I posted it. OH well...

The GOP, living comfortable in the fox news bubble, thinks this is a fantastic idea. they pushed hard for ryan
