Mitt Romney announces Paul Ryan as running mate

college subsidization has contributed to some of the inflating costs for college tho. If grants were exclusively for very low income but well performing students that would be fine but grants typically go to people that are already well off.

I don't think grants are the problem. I don't believe any federal college grants are even that much money. The problem is the system just expects people to have to take out loans to pay for it.

There is a bubble in college education costs. If the schools couldn't depend on everyone getting loans, they'd be force to streamline their operations, to get the real costs lower so that people could actually afford it.

I mean I don't know the exact statistic, but college tuition has risen much faster than inflation, and it doesn't seem like the quality has gone up to reflect the increase in price.

This is completely wrong.

As a matter of fact, a lack of enforcement on college tuition and a lack of funds to get people into school debt free plays a significant part in how the current college graduates are screwed. Couple that with the fact that college debt is "good debt" and you get kids graduating by the millions with a bachelor's degree and 20k+in debt unable to get a job without spending time in an unpaid internship or having "previous experience."

I am incredibly relieved.

I was a bit worried about a Rubio selection, as it would've made Florida much easier for Romney. He could've then had Rubio camp-out in the southwest (Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada) to campaign for the Hispanic vote while Romney camped-out in the midwest for the next two months. It could've been a much tighter race that way.

But with Ryan? A man who still well may not deliver his home state?! A man who may well close Obama's senior gap (especially crucial in Florida)? I'm friggin' relieved. If Obama really wins, I might have to take the day after the election off so that I can gloat online and watch Fox News.

Seriously, who the hell is running the Romney campaign? It's like.... I think they can't make a worse move than they already made, and yet THERE IT IS.

I'm almost convinced someone is attempting to write a textbook of how to not run a presidential campaign.

Donated to the campaign this morning. If this turns out to be real, I will donate again. Double.

In a rational world that would be true. But who knows these days. Florida voted in a Governor that was the CEO of a company that had to pay the largest criminal medicare fraud penalty EVER. MEDICARE FRAUD . . . in Florida. Yet they voted for him.

Yes, living in Florida I can confirm the elder people are pretty much set in their hateful, glued to fox news, voting against their own interests as long as its against that black muslim gay married marxist communist socialist from Kenya Obummer ways. These people are still cheering Rick Scott on, the only hope is the people that would have voted against Rick Scott last time but didn't think he seriously stood a chance will take it seriously this time.

Paul Ryan wants to privatize social security, because that worked out so well for Bush.
Yeah, I remember when he went on a tour across the country to educate people about his plan. The more people learned about it the more people hated it. The polling kept dropping until they lost GOP Congressional support and dropped it.

That may be a preview of the Romney campaign . . . but I don't think he can drop all that much more from where he is now. I don't think he could drop beyond 42% or so.

100% completely and totally untrue.

Since 1985 we have had a 115% increase in CPI (essentially the price of goods). Education costs in that same time have gone up 500%.

Wait, don't you mean true then? Cause what you quoted said tuition has gone up faster than inflation and what you wrote says that.

Actually the rising costs of tuition has a large amount to do with government cuts to many of these schools and for private schools the lowering endowments due to the downturn. Basically due to lack of money from the government schools are shifting the costs onto kids.

That's what I just said. College tuition has risen faster than inflation. In nominal and real terms, college is a lot more expensive than it used to be.

I don't even know why I'm bothering to reply to such a crappy post.

Please do! I want to see a bunch more Romney / Ryan ads try to explain their fuck-witted ideas. The more ads the better! Keep on donating! Only you can make the push to bring the mighty lulz.

That's a short term trend. I'm talking about the rise in tuition over the last 20-30 years. It's been happening way before the 2008 meltdown.

It's like many people here don't believe that Romney and Ryan can win for some reason, if Bush and Obama became got voted in then Romney can also.

Anybody can become President.

Either you are not in college or you completely misunderstood how "well off" you have to be to be able to afford college without assistance. Cutting grant money to all but the "very low income" will screw over many people because tuition isn't going down in an economic downturn.

ive already graduated actually, and i was saying that that those grants has been somewhat contributing to the rising cost in college tuition. Its similar to the housing bubble where home prices were being inflated because of a combination of subsidization and predatory lending.

If you want to actually be able to use language that Neogaf should just censor, come on down to the link in the pics.

I gotta hand it to EviLore, he knows his audience very well. There is even talk of a paid sub service. "Let's pay money to get banned!"

In before "we got a badass over here", "haters gonna hate", Samuel L Jacksons face, and whatever other boring shit you come up with.

And absolutely in before the ;b

PS: You can keep using the cool Nagoshi meme I created "you guys". That's my gift to you. Yakuza 5 is coming. I hope you all buy it.
What in the fuck.

dafuq did I just read?

Back on track.

Choosing Ryan smacks of desperation to me. Not Palin level desperation, but still it shows concern about energizing the base. The base does not win elections and Ryan does not help with independent/undecided voters.

You might as well flush it down the toilet. It's quicker and the end result will be the same.
I have relatives who are gonna start prepping for financial collapse much, much more furiously if Obama wins again. Can't wait to hear the details.

I tease them all the time that the GOP's window for winning presidential elections is closing as demographic & migrational changes guarantee the Dem's candidates more "safe" states. We might see some entertaining GOP reactions when they begin to realize, hehe..

Take a look at some electoral vote projections and come back to us.

Why do you think the GOP is coming down so hard on immigration. They know the time table is closing for stopping the demographic shift that will make their ideas irrelevant forever.

Obama is taking care of that immigration thing though so Republicans don't have to worry about that.

Haha, and I thought McCain-Palin was bad. This is far worse for the country but without the added benefit of the comedy factor that Palin's lack of intelligence brought to the situation. The Republican party is in such a sad state. I pity the real Republicans whose party has been hijacked by these tea party morons.
