Fighting Games Weekly | August 6-12

That chat log from Mr. Wizard is so salt-ridden.

considering he is talking about def mechanics you have dp, late tech, instant tech, no tech, reversal super, blowback, rolls, and instant blocking (gives the defender 2 more frames adv).

There are 0 2-frame overhead or that shit would of been exploited at very japanese tournament and at tougeki. There is an instant overhead (mitsu jump B) but you get nothing off it if it hits.

edit
Yeah he has to be trolling or ignorant.

It honestly looks to me like he's just venting his frustrations with learning the game to one or two people, it's probably not something he'd knowingly say to a large audience.

People are making too big of a deal out of one guy's opinion, in my opinion. It's the same as the FChamp thing. And in this case it just seems like he's just venting, like how people vent about wake-up DPs or Sagat fireballs or something.

This type of stupid stuff is said at the beginning of every fighting games life.

MvC3:OmGbbqwtf Sentinel is broken what do we do???????????

SSF4: holy fuck dudley is like balrog and ryu mixed and can combo into his ultra off a jab dp omg so broken lololololololololololololololololololol

Never forget Sssentinel. The 3 Ss are for where everyone ranked him week 1.

Remember guys everyone is going to have him on his team... if they want to win.

It's funny cause the fastest overhead in p4 is like 18 frames or something. Also you can spend 50 meter for alpha counters. Also you can just defend to recover from block stun faster and gain meter also rolls and everyone has a counter or srk move. lol I sure hope he isn't serious

No way. A+ would put him at Wolverine/Wesker level.
Do you factor in the assists in a tier ranking? (I was.)

Only reason I haven't blocked your posts is because an FGC thread without your posts would make that thread very dull. :D
<3 (Definitely overshot it - A+ is too high if that's where Wesker/Wolvie live, but his risk/reward ratio would mean a LOT more Sentinels around.)

Welp looks like no persona at evo

Wiz hated 3rd Strike, yet it was still on every single year, his personal opinion holds very little merit in the grand scheme of things which is a good thing since you don't want a world championship to be run on the back of someone's ego

Reminds me of this.

Always take a pleasure laughing at people who pretend that ST is a "pure" and "honest" fighting game while shitting on every other fighter under the sun.

I always do. Sentinel has excellent support value on a team and is why he still remains a competitive character. As a point he is lacking significantly and has one of the worst match up charts in the game. More health just means you can spam his assist more in fact the reason why his health is low because it's balanced around his assist, it doesn't help his match up problems. A lot of top assists are attached to low health characters with some exceptions of course.

I consider him Upper mid at best now and more health would just move him a few spots up.

If anyone falls for the Fanatiq trap after the Joker/RayRay fiasco they deserve to lose money. I think Infirit is smart enough to avoid it though

It's not a trap if you legitimately think you're better than him. Ray Ray was in a sense a trap since Fanatiq down played his skilled, but Infrit has all the data he needs on Fanatiq.

The main "Trap" of fanatiqs is the experience factor. Even if he thinks your better he'll play it because he has a lot of long set and high stake money match experience.

Btw- I will readily cop to ignorance (re: current tier placements, etc.) on any variety of issues. :) If you see something you disagree with and it's just stupid just correct me.

True, but I don't count that as a trap since that is well known and even documented at this point. It's not like Ray Ray didn't know Fanatiq has had a $50,000 MM before in MVC2.

To me a trap is something you didn't see coming and you walked into. Ray Ray knew Fanatiq's specialty is long sets he just didn't know that Fanatiq could have analyze and downloaded him before ECT4.

Tier lists aren't set in stone or anything and ranking vary from player to player. Tier lists are there to be debated over for the most part. Sentinel might be A+ one day if guard breaks or unlockables into 300% tods become standard play.

Yeah I should of put trap in quotation marks. Also I think people greatly underestimate the importance of experience in those situations.

You know, the more I hear "this is a really bad match up for Sentinel" on streams, the more the matches end in Sentinel winning. I think a lot of the match ups are bad on paper and much better in practice if your not playing Day 1 vanilla Sentinel. Though otherwise, I generally agree with you.

Watching Infrit's Sentinel continuously block FChamp's Mags approach and offensive options one by one led me to this revelation.

The thing about Sentinel is that one bop kills you. You can play better for 95% of the time, screw up once, and boom, dead character. He really does have a lot of bad match ups. But fthe person playing against Sentinel is walking a tightrope.

Bad match up does not mean unwinnable especially in Marvel.

Marvel match ups can fluctuate substantially due to factors like meter, X-factor, assists, etc. They are very flexible. It can not be looked at in the traditional sense like street fighter match ups. They're their own beast.

Indeed. This Forward guy is pretty darn good

He did level up at

FGTV Hyperbolic time chamber.

Justin is like the only top player that hasn't visit yet. Even Chris G, Marlin, Yipes, and Noel Brorwn have made their pilgrimage to FGTV (Oh Flocker and Viscant haven't either, but then again Viscant hasn't really been winning or even getting close).
