Toys R Us has a $15 off Lego sets $50 or more right now if anyone is interested. You can print up the coupon from the website to use in stores, or if you order online you are given the code to enter at the checkout screen.

Just ordered Pet Shop (with free series 5 mini fig) for $135 with free shipping. YAY! When it arrives, modulars are done!

Where is the $15 off coupon? It does not come up during my checkout process.

Also, they have a $5 off (no minimum) coupon. 2xSeries 7 minifigs = $1.46 after coupon.

PS: If you want to get back at their Lego price gouging, Google Chrome Incognito window gives you unique coupons. Ask your friends to help you buy multiple times.

Can't seem to find the $15 off coupon, and it doesn't show up when I put the 8081 Extreme Cruiser in my cart and try to check out. Probably just as well, I've already got 6 sets coming this week, I really shouldn't be spending more (but I want to!).

I added the set to my cart, then at the checkout screen under the big set it said "enter this code to get $15 off" in small print. It is kind of hidden.

Nope. I went to the final Submit Order page and still see nothing. :(
:( not sure. They mention the promo in the ad and on the front page of the site. I notice some sets say they are eligible and some do not. Very, very weird.

Enter code 954521 at checkout. That is the code on the web page for Pet Shop. See if it works for anything else.

Code works for my random purchase of stuff thrown in just to hit the $50 mark. Granted when I was at $49.99, I had free shipping (-$6) and when I add anything else at all, I had to pay $6 shipping again. Now to go find really really cheap stuff to see if I can get free shipping AND the promo code to work. I know I'm in Hawaii but still! Free shipping worked <$49.99.

Edit: It seems the shipping is done by the box, but if I threw Fire Brigade in with the Republic Striker, there's free shipping AND the $15 off but that defeats the purpose of the code at this point. =/

After following this thread for quite a while with no Legos of my own I finally decided to take the plunge. Love the licenses they are currently using, wanted something fun to do with my wife and have a 1 yr old son who can inherit the sets.

So far I picked up Fire Brigade and Seaside House for the wife (she really likes the modulars) and 4 assorted smaller DC and Marvel Super Hero sets for me to build and display.

Already trying to decide between the Pearl and QAR for my next purchase. Any thoughts?

Those Toys R Us emails with coupons are so misleading. Just got one that says "20% off your purchase of $100 or more!" Then you click it and it says "look for this under the details of the product to see if it is eligible."

In other words, not much works with it. And I love how since they have a free mini fig with most Lego purchases right now, it disqualifies from any kind of discount. Almost all their coupons are misleading.

Got this one, too. Made me a sad sad panda.

At first I was pissed at the email because I used the one from this morning for $15 off, which was 10% of my order. But then when I saw the 20% off didnt apply, I was a bit happier, but still annoyed at the misleading wording of it.

Yeah, TRU uses misleading wording a LOT. They also don't tell you about certain exclusions until you're at the register (if you shop in store). But if you're lucky enough to bank on one of their better coupons, I guess it's worth the hassle. :P

Oh wow, $32 shipping for Fire Brigade on my end, which the $15 coupon negates part of it and then brings the total to $153 which is around where if I just drove myself down to the local LEGO store to pick it up at MSRP. Too lazy to drive down to TRU to try since it's a hassle of a drive in itself.

Oh well, looks like I'll keep looking at Amazon Warehouse.

$32 shipping? I had free shipping on Pet Shop. Are you not in the States?

Hawaii, not part of the continental/contiguous 48 states. Not even Newegg two-day shipping hits that hard and two-day is the ONLY choice we have for shipping.

Is Fire Brigade that heavy?
Not terribly heavy, but it is a largeset. And ouch to the shipping charges. Have you checked how much shipping on Lego.com is?

$14.95 since after taxes it'll pass the $150.01 point so it'd be a better idea to drive myself down to the LEGO store instead anyway. Buuuut I'll just put it off for a while and if it goes it goes.

Got the female rocker for my series 7 fig. I just can't seem to get the bunny rabbit guy. As for series 8, I got the DJ, two of the conquistador, the diver, and three of the four I don't really want - the fairie, the female skier, and the football player. If anyone needs a conquistador and wants to swap for a bunny dude or any of the other series 8 figs, to make your life easier, let me know. He's brand new, still in original packaging, just opened slightly with scissors to confirm contents.

The Honolulu Lego store seems to have higher prices than MSRP. That was my experience when checking out the May 4th sale anyway. I'd gone there with intention to buy the Imperial Shuttle but even with the sale price and no s/h costs, it was maybe $10-20 more than buying online with discount and free s/h. But then the online inventory ran out so I ended up not getting it. Anyway I'd call for the price before driving down if it is out of the way for you.

Thanks for the info. I still think I'll just pass with the TRU deal since I feel better at the moment with the extra $150 in my possession. I guess this is why I tell myself this so often, "If it's not there then it's not meant to be" when the time comes.

My LEGO deals tour continues unabated. Today's destinations netted me the Dino HQ for $60, triceratops trapper for $30, t-Rex hunter for $40, raptor chase for $15, city park cafe for $20 and Olivia's house for $40!

Tomorrow brings another city - what deals will be found?...

(btw most of these were at walmarts... I've been to about a dozen the past few days (along with TRUs and targets... Walmart has the biggest discounts, but they are completely random from store to store)

Man, I am both glad and upset that I don't find those deals around here. Nothing is ever clearanced at Wal Mart or Target around here. The only clearance deal I got was a Cars 2 set a month or so ago.

Anyways, I abandoned the giant theater idea due to lack of pieces to pull it off, so I started a new kind of modular. Sorry for the crappy pics, but the lighting in my apartment was odd tonight and the camera was not wanting to behave either:

I give you: Blacktron Brewery! I need to do the interior details, along with a second floor, but this is what I am going to theme my microbrewery MOC off of.

The front of the building (which is honestly the only visible part most of the time) is following the classic 80s Blacktron color scheme of black and yellow. And the logo is everywhere for that brand recognition. I plan on using the angular windows from the old sets for the second floor windows. For the roof I plan on using one of the really large angular windows and setting it sideways to make a big sky light.

It is kind of plain and ugly looking, but it is with the old school theme.

You're traveling the country looking for Lego sales?

I am traveling and seeing the sights, but the LEGO sales are just a bonus.

Edit: so is the Blacktron Brewery a legit business front for the illegal operations of the Blacktron empire, or is the Blacktron space fleet hiding the truth that it is a front for illegal liquor distribution?

They got their start doing legit brewing, but then got into bootlegging and seedier things before the commercialization of space travel. This is their early days before a corrupt CEO got into business with John Carmack and Richard Branson to build space ships.

OK, so I got the Toys R Us $15 code to work.

1) First add the Pet Shop modular. (@PhoncipleBone - I got that off your post, thanks.)
2) Visit your cart. You will see a message under the Pet Shop listing that contains a code. Copy that code.
3) Remote Pet Shop from your cart.
4) Add any other item that is > $50.
5) Apply said promo code.

Now I need to decide whether I should order the Motorised Excavator or the 4x4 crawler. (Unimog would be under consideration except that it is priced at $10 + MSRP). Does ToysRUs charge sales tax for all states? Is there any online store that sells Lego and does not charge sales tax?

PS: Does ToysRUs ever have a buy 1 get 50% off sales on Lego?

Excavator is older, so no idea when it will disappear. Crawler is brand new, but really bad ass looking.

And yes, they have B1G1 50% off. They did two almost one after another, but all the good sets disappeared for the entirety of the sale, only to reappear once it ended.

Thanks for the writeup! I actually looked at the page for the Pet Shop, and if you scroll down a bit they show you the code right on the page: 954521 so you don't even need to add it to your cart.

Got the 8081 Extreme Cruiser for $55 shipped! Thanks to you and PhoncipleBone for the info!

I...uh...

E: Post history appears to indicate that you left your account logged in somewhere and someone decided to play with it. O_O

E2: On topic, that group build has a LOT of white pieces. Gorgeous stuff there!

It looks like there is no point to this promo for the larger sets. All it does is take off the tax and bring the total down to eBay/Amazon costs.
Yeah, because it's a flat $15 off it will be less and less of a discount as the price increases, to the point where you're approximately just covering tax on a $200 set (assuming it's MSRP, which they usually aren't at Toys'R'Us). That's why I tried to keep the total as close as possible to $50, which makes it worthwhile since at $50 it's a 30% discount.

So going to Orlando for Star Wars Celebration next weekend, and wondering if the GF and me should stop by Legoland. Is it too much of a park for kids or will grown ups enjoy it? We don't got kids or such but do enjoy some legos. But kinda fear it's too oriented for a younger crowd perhaps.

I keep seeing the LOTR sets locally, but other than the minifigs i'm not sure i want/need them.

Are they actually good for bricks and pieces? Huge castle fan so I think they should be able to slide neatly into my collection.

Weathertop is a fun build but overpriced. I loved all the sets though.

Went by tru on the way to work. Grabbed 10 series 8 figs. Got only one repeat:) that is pretty good luck.

I had a dream about shopping for blind-bag minifigures last night. Oh god why. I guess I should try to find someplace to buy a couple.
EDIT: And one repeat out of ten is amazing luck. So jealous. I'd be estatic to make it past 5 bags at once with only one repeat.
