Guild Wars 2 Launch Date announced: August 28th, 2012

Are GW2 character names per server (like WoW) or universal? As in once someone has a name it's gone completely, regardless of server choice.

Is this stress test just for people who have bought the game already? I was in the beta but it says there is no event when I try to log on.

Game is running great aside from a few lag spikes.

Universal.

That was fun. Spent the entire hour in a SPVP grouping with mostly the same people. I had lag for only 2 seconds the entire time.

I was playing a Mesmer and I got absolutely rocked by an Elementalist with a frost elemental. Usually 1v1s are close, but I got my ass handed to me.

i was playing spvp but got frustrated at my team lol, so i went back to pve.

Well that was short.

By the way, here's a race/profession hipster chart, based on recent polls:

Kept getting graphical glitches, like my armor wouldn't show up until I unequipped, or my character would completely turn light blue for a second.

Didn't have any of this in all 3 BWEs.

Wonder if that'll be the final stress test, or if they'll have one last final one during this coming week. Wish I'd played attention better during BWEs, but it's probably for the best that I didn't play any of them.

I tried some sPvP with a mesmer and it was hilarious fun. Had teleport, 2 stealth+clone, dodge+clone via skill, clone that absorbed damage done to me, block+clone, and also some good damage skills/clones. Ultra high survivability, while still doing decent damage. Fun stuff.

Say you ran around in a heavy, cool looking armor, but equipped a chest town piece, and hey you had a dress with huge metal shoulder pads while still having all your regular stats. Or you could just completely switch to a full town outfit, still keeping the stats of the armor you actually have equipped.

TBH in terms of gameplay, it made way more sense than what GW2 offers with civil wardrobe.

OK, I guess my question now is, doesn't that make Transmutation entirely obsolete?

Well that was short.

So green is hip, right? I'm in the comfy middle part :)

edit: ooh, it's from a gafguild voting, now I get it :) So the real world poll would probably display the exact opposite, right? Right?

It's an issue with the occlusion code, only started happening in the stress test.

Hm? In Lotro, there is no transmutation, in GW2 you can't transmutate civil clothing. I don't get your point here ^^

Highlight for me:

In WvWvW, ran into a fort sprinting pass a group of 4 enemies building a balista. Once inside there are about 3 guys from my server. One goes "on the count of 3 we run out there. 1...2...3." I cast sprint on everyone and charge out, right into the ballista, taking it down to a sliver of health before kicking the bucket. Died and realized no one else left the fort.

Gonna post some vids of me not sucking at Necro sPVP.
Soon as they compress/upload.

I'm very happy with this game's PVP. I usually suck at pvp. There's always too much information to be garbled for me to care about it. But this GW2 is the most fun PVP I've ever played. I wouldn't say it's simple, but it's like there's less crap clouding your vision. Less useless skills. I have so many skills and it doesn't take lvl 80 to learn how to use them. Then it's just about skill.

Well that was short.

By the way, here's a race/profession hipster chart, based on recent polls:

For the first BWE I made a Norn Mesmer (10), Charr Necro (10), Human Engi (6), Norn Thief (10) and Charr Ranger (9). That would make me quite hip if I wasn't actually trying combinations I was not going to use on release. :D

If you can have a set entirely different from your normal armor just for aesthetic purposes, isn't that instantly better than transmutation? Unless that aesthetic set can only be composed of civil clothing?

In any case, I am strongly against it. I DON'T want people fighting in civil armor. Sure, it gives the players more freedom, but I personally think it looks silly. Transmuting leather to look like leather is OK, but having a warrior fighting in a tuxedo is just... no.

Charrs and Norns, for the unique.

I wonder if it has to do with the fact that because of their girth, and the fact that all characters run at the same speed, they give the illusion that they are moving very slowly.

I know that's why I may never make a Charr or Norn character.

There's one thing stopping me from rolling a Charr Elementalist come launch. It's these god awful shoes that they wear. Nothing screams badass master of the elements like leather soled shoes.

Decided to jump in and purchased the pre-order just an hour before this stress test and got in when it started. Graphics looked OK and I didn't mind the low-res textures or the low-poly models (I had all settings at their max). It looks good enough and that's always pleasant. The camera movement was shit, but if I got used to it in 20 minutes I'm pretty sure I won't mind it in the long run. Combat as a Warrior was fun and even more so with the Thief :-)

Can't wait for the 25th so I can spend my long boring days grinding and farming my way to the top.

Charrs and Norns, for the unique.

I have gone from "Asura for everything!" to "Asura for my Engineer, female Norn for everything else"....

I I'm just too much into being able to see my armor/weapons. And a Norn with a Greatsword.....holy hell. So bad ass.

Yes. Yes, it is :) That's what Lotro did ;)

And yeah, you can do a lot of non-canon crap with it if you want to, but most of Lotro's civil stuff wasn't as obnoxious as what we'll probably get with GW2 if GW1 is any indicator ^^

Unrelated: Bought the pirate set earlier, and it's freaking awesome. You can do all kinds of stuff with the toy sword, like summoning a parrot pet (sadly flies away after some time, with a huge cooldown) or a cannon (usable), and pirate-y emotes.

So it seems warrior and guardian are the popular choices over at guild wars 2 guru...Poll results so far:

Well damn :(

Couldn't get in the game. Damn ju NCsoft! Teasing us like that..

Anyways, bought the digital delux edition, but I can't figure out what the Rytlock Miniature is.
Description: Rytlock Miniature
This rare miniature is a perfect replica of Rytlock Brimstone and will accompany your character on all of their adventures throughout Tyria.

Is it a pet? Because you get a pet, the Mistfire Wolf Elite Skill. So do you get two pets? Im confused :S

Got in at the beginning of the hour, had no trouble, and there was perhaps a tiny bit of lag while I sent my entire 60 minutes in WvW. I actually had to log myself out. It was a dream.

The more I play WvW, the more I want to have three characters I play to level 80 only in WvW.
