I fuckin knew it.

Thanks to the Internet, all fanbases have an equal percentage of creepy people.
MLP has a very large fanbase, so naturally there's more creepy people TOTAL attached to it.

Whether there's creepy fanart or not has nothing to do with the actual show.

Do I need to explain how laughable it is to call two characters an ensemble cast?

Do I need to explain why it's easy to modify characters that are similar to have distinct characteristics?

C'mon Uchip. I know you're smart enough to understand these concepts. Please don't make me talk down to you like you're dumb, we both know you're not.

Adventure time has a large amount of memorable, recurring characters. Not featuring in every single episode shouldn't be a factor in determining how distinctive they are.

"Do I need to explain why it's easy to modify characters that are similar to have distinct characteristics?"

yes, please.

Agreed. There is nothing wrong with watching and enjoying the show. However, letting the show take over your whole life is incredibly unhealthy.

Unless your previous life involved sitting in a dark basement cutting yourself. Then going to Bronycon is tremendous progress. Oh hey, that ugly dude over there dressed up as a female horse. Let's throw eggs at him.

Edit:
Boat races.
The embodiment of rule 34 is that there's always someone better. If you have the mental ability to suggest boat races, odds are someone has already taken that two steps farther and made porn of it. Even if you can't easily find it.

Of course, it's scientifically impossible for there to always be someone better. But that's why rule 35 exists.

I can't believe I'm doing this.

It was you who called Finn and Jake an ensemble cast, not me. That said, LSP and CB are not the best candidates for cosplay. No matter how you dress them up, they're still LSP and CB. Finn is much easier to modify due to his relatively neutral model, but the vast majority of AT characters are already highly stylized to be instantly recognizable.

On the other hand, when many characters are similar, small differences become that much more apparent. For ponies, 90% of the models are the same. Due to this, changing the mane and the cutie mark will instantly draw recognition to those two points. Therefore, it is easy to make small changes that are recognizable while not turning the image in to a mess.

What the fuck is a "cutie mark"?

isnt that the point of cosplay? to be recognised as something
human ponies are the cheapest kind of cosplay, and only pony fans will even know who they are. Why is cosplay even being brought up?

your argument is that when everything is the same, you notice the differences
but little differences do not make a distinctive character design.

Powerpuff girls, for example, very similar designs, but limited to 3 characters and 3 colours for good reason

What the fuck is a "cutie mark"?

Magical ass tattoos. Apparently that term was deemed unacceptable for some reason by the network.

The point of cosplay is not to be recognized as something, it is to be recognized as the thing you're dressing up as. -_-

Give a pony link's hat, his hair as a mane, and a triforce cutie mark and you know who he is. Please don't pretend otherwise, you're feigning ignorance and it doesn't suit you well.

if you like ponies okay whatever that doesn't bother me, what my problem is that most bronies cant tell the. Difference between fandom and obsession, and allow mlp to become the defining point of their personalities where everything is about ponies.
Do you even know any bronies? As somebody who is relatively active in the community I'd have to say you're just making shit up. :)

you're taking iconic videogame characteristics and using them as justification as to how MLP is distinctive, when its only pointing out that Link himself is distinctive.

when what dictates a characters design is the colour and a stamp on their ass, you know you've made something truely generic.
as was intended originally by toy makers.

I said that ponies are easy to adapt to anything and explained why.

Perhaps you quoted the wrong person or misread my post? :)

Actually mlp has had the cutie mark thing since the 80's.
Its not a new thing with mlp:fim.

You seem to think you're arguing against his point when you're only strengthening it.

you jumped on the defense force for this, at least ride it out with some substance

hence "original toy makers"

You can ponify just about anything and have it be moderately amusing, while applying the AT style to something else is occasionally decent but is less generally amusing.

In other words, ponies lends itself to fanworks more than AT does.
Apologies, I misstated. I meant you were supporting the vast majority of his point.

Now that we've cleared up that misunderstanding, where can you say I'm wrong?

I'm still waiting for something fucked up about boat race fandom.

Well youve got a few directions to go here.

1. Boat racing is highly dangerous. There are accidents and some people like to collect gruesome pictures.

2 boat racing is a drinking game. I dont need to tell you how that can get.

3. Porn on top of racing boats.

4. People sticking their......in the boat exhaust like with cars

Do I need to continue?

That's a misconception. Most bronies on GAF don't even post in the community thread (and the ones that do have plenty of other interests). Most just watch the show when there are new episodes and then disperse afterwards.

The media and some irrational haters love to latch onto the extreme fringe elements and present them as proof of their slanted view of a group.

Edit: Unless you define "brony" as someone with significantly more than a passing interest, in which case you're probably right, but some people who might identify themselves with a different definition of the word might take offense.

because you are taking something completely subjective, and stating it as fact.
if you want to ask random people if the new My Little Pony style is memorable then by all means, we can make some kind of statistic, but im not going to waste my time on that.

From what ive seen, its easy to see the logical reason behind keeping the characters from overshadowing one another.
I will never concede that the show has any kind of outstanding design.

Alright how about hot air balloons.

If you call yourself a brony then you are part of the problem.

It's not like people who go out of their way to hate aren't either. I'm sure there are some extreme members that feed on the feeling of seclusion and outcasting. Mainly those targeted in these documentaries.

The King of ponies loves Blame

i tried to run from what i am, but the world wont let me.

i will always be the King of Pones.

even when i disown the avatar and walk away from the throne, my people stay by my side.

Amirox was right... i cant hide from what i am.

This avatar is so much better than the creepy one.

Well, its like the Simpsons, that was genuinely great. No one called themselves Bromers.

And no one is going out of the way to hate, its just stupid >.>

Most people dont make their likes a lifestyle. Hell, even on a video games forum, most of us dont call ourselves 'gamers'.

You really think so?

all you are doing is patronizing me without ever actually having a point
its a tad hypocritical to pull the straw man card here.

I made my point and you've ignored it. Respond to it and maybe we can have some discussion. Continue to ignore it and present my argument as other than it is and I'll say you're tossing strawmen up in favor of an actual argument.

You think I'm being patronizing at random? This isn't your first post on the boards, or even on this subject. Sorry, usually I'd do the whole song and dance, but we've argued before. I'd prefer we just cut to the point, you don't care what anyone's points are and will misrepresent their arguments all day to make yourself seem in the right. Can we just save each other's time and stop now?

I'd not have even responded to you in the first place if I knew it was you but you've recently changed your avatar and I made a mistake, ok? You win the argument.

"Gamers" is a term other people use, stupidly most of the time.

I play games. But im not a gamer.

I honestly dont think most people would call themselves 'gamers' its the kind of label news companies use or advertisers.
