Counter-Strike: Global Offensive official site is live (kinda), beta starting today

Dammit. I just installed this last night. Can't wait to play but I just bought Sleeping Dogs too. Not enough time!

On the flip side, I've seen shots of that new buy menu. Ugh. Are you still able to create buy scripts in the config file?

Keep getting this error while trying to install :(

Sometimes I really hate PC gaming. And all the threads I've read about this offer no solution? Guess I'll keep trying and trying and trying.

Edit: Changed my download region from the Netherlands (where I live) to Belgium, and now it works. Weird. Oh well. Yay CS:GO!
 
Finally was able to jump in and...man, I do not like that weapon wheel. I don't know what it is about the thing, but the visual of it just really throws me off during prep.

Apart from that, had a blast. Definitely felt closer to 1.6 than to source, at least for me. I was surprised how ingrained in me the old map routes still are, as I would occasionally find myself caught on a new piece of clutter, but it's nothing I can't adapt to. Unsurprisingly, there always seems to be some jackass who can't snipe trying to snipe. Though it kicked me out of a game where I was in the lead, alt-knifing the doofus felt good.
 
So I remember in CS SOurce having mapped : "P", "O", "I" to purchase MP5, Deagle, Helmet, vest and max bullets using a config.

Anyone knows how to do this with GO?
 
TF2 runs well enough on my iMac. I noticed a few issues with GO though, after having installed on OSX:

- It's dark. Like, really dark. I can set my monitor brightness all the way up, turn the game brightness all the way up, and maps like Aztec and Train are still a huge struggle. Didn't have the problem Windows-side.

- A weird, screeching audio glitch I never heard on Windows. It's really bad. Might be Train-exclusive, but I can't remember.

- Guess Mac OS base mouse sensitivity is a little different than Windows, so I'm basically having to relearn, which blows, because I'd gotten really good. Had a 3.1 KDR which I unfortunately chipped away at last night while trying to get the hang of things. Not an actual game issue, but I wanted to bitch.

Sweet thanks, so i just put this in the autoconfig.exec right? (after putting some key bindings before the commands of course)
 
Whenever I try to join a server through the browser and not matchmaking, it says joining lobby and then this session is no longer available. Anyone else have this issue?

Edit: one of them finally worked hmm

It's a good way to get a feel for the game. If anyone thinks if feels 'off' compared to 1.6 or Source, just play with bots for a few hours and try some new maps. You will get a good feel for the game and I think you will end up enjoying it more. Rather than jumping in and hoping it performs exactly like 1.6.

Join on friend doesn't work half the time. You either get stuck at joining a lobby or you get a 3rd party mod not installed error (that sometimes pops up repeatedly until you restart steam).

Spraying and praying is even more useful in CoD because there's almost no recoil. Doesn't seem like a great mechanic to have in a no respawn, teamwork based game though.
 
I'm having a pretty good time with this. I was getting bodied initially, but I think I'm getting the hang of it and can at least break even. My experience is much better than what I had with source due to standard rules and regular player count. I actually feel like flanking is possible since there aren't 30+ players in the normal servers. Gun game is a ton of fun, its goofy as hell but addictive.

oh my god vertigo??? I will love Valve forever if they just keep remaking classic 1.6 maps like 747, vegas, siege, backalley, etc

and if a map doesnt really work in a normal game, they could make a smaller version of it for Demolition mode. like 747 would really just need the whole plane and maybe a little bit of the outside, not the entire terminal
 
So I haven't played in a while. I used to have my mouse set up so that I would scroll to my next weapon, but it wouldn't be selected until I click fire. Does that make sense? Is that still possible? It just felt better to me.

you mean 1.6 style? i'm not sure if hud_fastswitch is still a command in GO, I don't remember seeing an option for it in the settings, it was just automatically on

First DLC on Xbox would be free, I imagine. The rest would be charged for, like L4D2.

I have no idea how the PSN works, but I'm sure Valve will put the DLC on there too.

Spraying is spoken poorly when it is done in an improper setting. It's associated with newbs because newbs spray poorly (don't account for recoil/spray patterns, etc)

But calling people newbs for spraying, even improperly, is wrong. Eventually they'll start compensating for recoil until they can do stuff like HeatoN. :P
