NFS Most Wanted Vita - Developed by Criterion, not dumbed down or cut content

Play the demo 21 times.

You have seen pretty much everything Gravity Rush has to offer.

The game makes a great first impression with its stylized visuals, good soundtrack and novel gravity switching mechanic. Too bad the gameplay is boring as fuck and the main missions are, without hyperbole, among the worst I've ever seen.
Oh well, sounds like it didn't jive with you. As I say, more of the same is all gravy as far as I'm concerned, the demo was utterly exhilarating for me!

Plus, when you think about it, most games are repetitive by nature, "these are the rules and parameters of the game, now here are a load of ever more complex scenarios. Go nuts."

Just the rumour that it might be cross-buy has got this thread in a lather. If it turns out (more likely than not) that it isn't cross-buy, i hope we don't turn and shit on the game, and can still judge it fairly.

The repetitiveness isn't exactly the main problem; the problem is the gameplay. 70% of what you'll do in this game is fight generic dark blobs, with a combat system that stays the same from beginning to end.

This is fantastic news. Cements Criterion as one of the very best developers after the support they gave to Paradise. They just seem to really enjoy making quality games and it is great that EA let them.

Man, I can't wait to see gameplay.

I was thinking... could one buy the PS3 version without having a PS3, sell it afterwards, grab the money, keep the Vita copy (since it's a downloadable title) and essentially get the Vita game for free?

Wouldn't this be a nightmare for Vita publishers?

I'm certain cross buy will only be for digital copies.

Hmm, I must admit, the combat was the weakest part for me.

On topic (sorry): has cross buy been confirmed when buying digital?

I know that from the Sony blog post regarding All-Stars it says,

"For all of you that purchase the PlayStation 3 version of PlayStation All-Stars – at retail or digitally through the PlayStation Network – you will be able to download the PS Vita version of PlayStation All-Stars from the PS Network at no additional cost. "

If it applies to the digital version of All-Stars then I don't see why it shouldn't for the others.

People have been referring to Most Wanted in the context of Cross Buy. Unless I've got my wires crossed.

Edit: as I said before, I think 50% off the other SKU would be both reasonable, and more likely to sit well with EA. But it's nice to want things!

It sounds great in theory but I wonder about the frame rate. I was playing the Madden demo today and it seems even more choppy than FIFA. FIFA was playable but Madden the amount of hitching made me quit mid demo. Feature parity is not enough to have the same experience.

Someone asked EA about Cross Buy and the representative said they would look into it for Most Wanted which translates to "EA will nickel and dime every penny it can get out of your pocket, no free games for you." So don't get your hopes up.

From the moment I heard about that Criterion job listing, and we knew they were working on a Vita version of Most Wanted, I've been excited. These guys don't do shoddy work. This will end up being a showpiece for just how powerful the Vita really is.

All-Stars is published by Sony though, they have a vested interest. Will EA be that generous?

I highly doubt it. At best I see them offering a discount for those that buy both versions.

This is what I figure too. Plus, as the DD RRP is usually 25% higher than retail, and they won't incur packing or haulage overheads on that SKU, they'll probably make the same profit anyway.

Whatever man, if he liked the demo (which I thought was a pretty poor representation of the game and is 70% fighting generic dark blobs) then he's going to like the game. I thought flying around the city was pretty much what the game was about and then occasionally you do a mission to fight some blobs (of which there are actually quite a few different types that require different strategies).

/totally off topic

Awesome about Vita version...

As far as console version goes...

No split screen/local multiplayer = No buy.

Fuck you criterion. Burnout 3/Revenge was awesome.

I cant believe this whole generation went by without a single proper nextgen local multiplayer Burnout (Revenge was a last gen port only out on 360). Bring back the damn local multiplayer.

Now this is what I expected when I first saw the details on the Vita. This game looks like a quality title and makes me hopeful for the Vita. Well done EA, well done.

I totally did not know this was basically Burnout Paradise 2. Holy christ am I excited for it now @_@ This is going to probably be my GOTY unless it's completely terrible on Vita, but judging from their previous work they won't put something out that they aren't proud of. All productivity will end once this comes out :)

I was hoping they would cut out the unskippable tutorial videos and unlock videos that has plagued Criterion's previous games.

I don't want to, but I'll double dip on this if I have to. If it's not cross play with PS3 then it's the 360 version for me. Either way, two versions of this game will be mine.

<Ok> if this game is cross buy , then i'll take it digital for both my ps3 and my vita ...
if not i'll take a physical ps3 version only

That means that frostbite 2 works on the vita.....

How bout some MoH for the vita EA?

Would've been a brilliant chance to outshine CoD. Just release a MoH Vita trailer straight after that POS Declassified trailer came out.

Anyway, this sounds fantastic but since it's EA, I've no hope for cross-buy, so I'll just get the PS3 version. It's a pity that EA (and other third parties) don't understand that almost no-one's going to buy two separate versions of a game, so bundling them together for one price is a smart way of adding value to the purchase without really losing much. Instead they see 2 games for full price = more money, which is stupid and short sighted.

YESSSSSS!!!!

This is exactly what I requested when they annouced the game would be released on the Vita. I fully expected that they would port across some terrible version of the game like the iOS version.

WILL BUY DAY 1!!

My goodness, that's some awesome news. I just might have to get both the PS3 and Vita versions of this game. Having a common Autolog and being able to accumulate Speed Points on either system makes it very attractive to have both versions.

I don't own a Vita.

I will buy this game.

I still play this.

Legendary!

This is definitely one of those games that is selling me a Vita. One of my most played games on the PSP was Test Drive Unlimited - free roaming over Oahu. This obviously won't be as big, but still...

well KZ:M is from GG's B-team/B-studio

WTF are you talking about? The studio who is making it are tech gods and they helped Sony studios with their tech including Guerrilla. Now they are a part of Guerrilla. It´s not a B-team.
Will this derogatory B-team nonsense stop? Sony Bend = B-Team?... Guerrilla Games' internal second studio == B-Team? Naughty Dog... well... one of their teams must be their B-Team... It's getting tiresome.

Shouldn't we judge them based on their work? A launch game on the level of Uncharted: GA is nothing to crap on, it is an excellent showcase of PS Vita and a rightful Uncharted entry.
This X1000000.

I guess Vita version would be a kind of on-line pass thing then for all-stars ?

Hmm will be interesting.

If Call of Duty flops, I'd like to see Medal of Honor or Battlefield on the Vita using Frostbite 2. To a smaller scale of course, there's no way we can have 32-64 player matches on this thing.

Indeed.

The Cross Play functionality has not been confirmed, so all of this excitement could come to nothing.

Call of Duty is only doing 4 - 4 matches. Battlefield won't even be a true battlefield game if it had 8 - 8 players, so I doubt it would work well.

Medal of Honor for the PSP had 32 player matches.

It's funny, the first couple years the PSP was out, developers really tried with a lot of their games, then they seemingly stopped caring.
