Hey that's my pic. :)

Fuck you Funcdoc

What arcade were you playing at? The hell.... you were winning with Wang?

Man if you weren't getting scum bag by 5.0 Steve then you haven't played Tekken 5.

Huh how could you not win with Wang in 5.0. He's only be kinda bleh in the rest he was beastly as fuck in 5.0 just underused. He had a ton of 75% life shit and a high low mix up that was safe and leads to that damage. Also he could wall trap you on the ground. Steve owned in 5.0 too though for sure.

I played at my local mall arcade. It was booming at the time when 5.0 came out. There was really good devil jin/Lee/Raven/Yoshi/Kaz/steve/nina/law players

His story about promising not to throw people and then throwing them over and over reminds me of something a friend and I used to do in Starcraft. The game was full of people who liked to do 3v1 CPU rushes to boost their win score (including myself at one time), so a friend and I started setting up these games. We'd rush the CPU, and then unally the third guy and kill him. So much rage...

Mexico's arcades were/are no joke. Huge fights involving more than 4 people were a monthly thing, and SF2/MK1 cabinets had bets going all the time (not to mention KOF 94/97... Holy shit, did that game bring in la sal from people). You didn't pay up? You're getting fucked up in front of the store. As long as it didn't happen inside the premises, the store owner didn't give a shit.

This is what esports fears.

Spanish for "salt" is just "sal"? I love it when words are easy to remember.

Seth Killian talks a million things fighting games related, mostly old days of fighting games at the arcades.

I still don't understand why/how throws got a reputation for being disrespectful. It's a tool, regardless of how weak/powerful they are, just like any other tool.
Dude

I wish I could record some matches of me versus Dyne when he picks Talbain. You'd realize just how dickish throws can be. I literally find myself teching about 6-7 throws in the span of twelve seconds. Anyone else would have quit that shit and bitched about how hard it is to get into that game.

I've honestly never thought about it until now, but I now understand how that game never became popular. Someone could be killed over that mangy dog's throws.

I've never understood the appeal of turbo modes. I'm glad they've left the genre, because they could make annoying stuff infuriating.

Turbo makes other characters fun too. Lei Lei wouldn't be half as fun if she weren't pendulum cancelling so much that it would make Taskmaster's skull spin.

Play mvc3 tech 20 throws in 8 seconds!

All games are turbo now by default

You young ones. People would beef over throws in the arcade!!

And those guys were idiots and scrubs. One time somebody told me he was going to fuck me up at a mall arcade back in the day for throwing too much in alpha 2. I kept doing it. He didn't do shit of course.

People hate losing. That was one thing to latch onto. Of course, I didn't play SF when it first came out (started at alpha 1), so I can maybe understand the frustration with the no tech-ing of throws and the huge throw range and relative fast walk speed.

I used to play MK2 like a crack addict, and people didn't get as salty about throws in that game for some reason, at least in the places I went. that game was slower though.

I used to hate KI1 because it had no throws. Stupid man, stupid.

ahh, the memories...

So that teaser that IPW put up yesterday is most likely Nor Cal VS So Cal. James and Ultra David both mentioned it on twitter.

I haven't seen what they said on twitter but im guessing it might be something similar to bar fights. One night event with a bunch of good matches. Main event will probably feature fchamp.

If its a 5v5:

Norcal: Fchamp, EG Rog, Padtrick, Drew Grimey, ShadyK

Socal: Justin Wong, Combofiend, Infrit, Fanatiq, Knives/Viscant/Clockwork

I was watching an episode of Adventure Time with my siblings yesterday and Jake had a line he used in reference to his face calling it his "Bread and Butter".

I feel so bad for thinking/saying right after that "He never fucks it up." I wish if I could make gifs after that. :lol

I'd rather have the issues with today's FGC over worrying about whether you'd get stabbed or attacked in an arcade. It happened to me a few times.
i remember when i was a kid some older kids took my scooter hostage unless i gave them my 3 quarters. ;_; never went back to that pizza shop to play arcades.

NEO GAF tier list go!
smurfx is thy god.
