Since a conservative policy would not help us through the economic crisis, I think it's decidedly convenient for the wrong economic policies to be highly correlated with batshit people.

He is basically saying that women can't get pregnant unless they are horny, so, in essence, pregnancy occurring in rapes aren't legitimate rapes because the women were into it. He's a moron.
But it doesn't.
It's perfectly okay for a political candidate in the US to say that if you are raped and become pregnant, you were not really raped. You must have wanted it.

It's even worse when you realize that not only does he believe the body tells the difference between rape semen and non-rape semen, but that he's straight up saying that women that got pregnant off a rape are lying that it was a rape.

David Letterman is a late night talk show host. He is not a politician. His views do not dictate policy.
He was making that joke in response to Palin's own description of her sexual encounter with her husband.

I think some birth defects/conditions can cause that to occur, but yes, this is completely insane re: births resulting from rape.
