Forza Horizon - Fall 2012 - Developed by PlayGround Games

Serious, why don't you guys look for another game to follow if Turn10 frustrates you so much.
It's satire, the sincerest form of flattery, or something..!
;)
Seriously though, I only rag on Forza because I love it and want it to be perfect.

And by 'perfect' I mean have more tracks.
Many more tracks.

Exactly. Game is awesome but they focus on the high ROI for DLC; cars.

I really enjoy the Forza series. However, their DLC BS got old quickly. The best thing I can do is vote with my wallet.

So... you are frustrated with lack of DLC tracks and for that are not going to buy the next game which seems to be more focused on enviroments than cars, the game that probably going to have more places to drive around than any other Forza before.

I dont think you are voting correctly, probably you would get this games (if is focused in enviroments as it seem) and not buy any car pack, for neither Forza Motorsport/Horizon, that would be a better vote with your wallet i think.

Dirt! And a car ;)

edit: dat tire flex.

Holy Shit!
Turn 10 still shoving cars down our throats?

I've got cars coming out of my ears for fuck's sake. I swear, the car list is the last thing on my mind when it comes to Horizon.

Same here. Give me a Subaru WRX STI and a huge world to drive around in, that's all I need.

The more screen shots I see of this game the more pumped I am to play it. Curious to see how the forza physics handle dirt roads.

I am still completely unsure if I want to go with Horizon or Most Wanted this fall. I know i will only have time for one or the other, and my loyalties are really being tested as I am all Forza (still play FM4 weekly) but Criterion can do no wrong in my eyes...it might come down to the demos deciding which way I go.

There's no PC version.
And the Angels wept.

But if this one is jaggy free and has a better sense of speed, I'll be more than OK with the 30fps trade-off. I'm just really having a hard time getting back to Forza 4 after playing some PC racers. Test drives and time trials are OK, but once you throw a bunch of AI racers onto something like Hockenheim, the IQ goes right out the window.

Horizon rated "T" by ESRB

Content descriptors: Drug Reference, Language, Suggestive Themes

Other:

Rating summary: This is a racing simulation game in which players compete with real-world cars at the fictional Horizon Festival in Colorado. Players can race in various modes (e.g., Circuit, Street, Speed Stunt) to earn experience points and unlock new cars. During the course of the game, some of the dialogue references suggestive material (e.g., “[A]ll these young women, half naked, screaming from passing cars,” “Ramona is, apparently, 'good on dirt,'” and “Let me think. . . feed the cat. . . water the plant. . . spank the monkey. . .”). Some sequences reference illicit substances (e.g., “Clean-living boy Darius Flynt has apparently never taken recreational drugs,” “drug-fueled jerks,” and “All those kids . . . taking drugs, fornicating!”). The words “sh*t” and “a*shole” can also be heard in the dialogue.

This thread reached new cynical heights. New video please, PGG.
My cynicism is based on personal fury at Forza's good name being casually hijacked and used in a piggyback promotion to sell more copies of a NFS:Street reboot. Can you imagine Polyphony sanctioning Gran Turismo: Dubstep Edition?

All reasons why Horizon bears the Forza moniker seem tenuous at best. For me it's a cash-in, pure and simple. It's diluting the Forza brand, perhaps irreversibly so. I'll never understand why this game isn't marketed as an extension of the PGR family - it seems to me to be a far more appropriate fit.

Aw, pay no attention to me. I'm in a fucking foul mood today.

Don't Activision own PGR?

Man, Horizon being a PGR spinoff makes so much sense I want to shoot myself. I'm disappointed too that it has Forza branding, but we'll see what happens. Hopefully it doesn't mean that with the uber-casuals now sucked into racing, T10 will start accommodating them more with FM5.

Oh go play your crappy racepro :p

Therein lies the root of my fears. Recreational dalliance with drag racing can lead to hard-core dependence on gymkhana.

Fucking BOWLING and SOCCER, for the love of God. I still can't believe it.

No, PGR is a Microsoft IP.

Nope, MS does.

Fair enough.

I still don't see a problem with Microsoft wanting it's racing games under one name

How would you feel about:

Forza Horizon - Playground Games - 2012
Forza 5 - Turn 10 - 2013
Forza Horizon 2 - Playground Games - 2014
Forza 6 - Turn 10 - 2015
Forza Horizon 3 - Playground Games - 2016
etc.

?

Obviously, that's not what's going to happen, but would anyone have a problem with this?

oh, MAYBE you can move the watermark around in photo mode now ? in screenshots so far it's either bottom right or bottom left

Reasons why I am not really that excited for forza horizon:

- Only gameplay is a car going from point a to b
- Not shown any real race stuff
- Reminds me too much of TDU which while a cool game, was rather boring after a while
- Being shown most cars I have already driven to death in forza 1-4, especially being shown them in photo mode shots which are not a true reflection of the game in play.

Yeah, really not feeling it and with Sonic ASR, F1 and other games coming out this end of year why do I need forza horizon again?

oh, MAYBE you can move the watermark around in photo mode now ? in screenshots so far it's either bottom right or bottom left

That is most likely added after a dev kit render or something, the same happened for the other forza images shown before release.

Looking forward to this, one of the first QC testers I hired went to work at Playground on it. Expecting really good things from it!

Since Horizon uses the same handling and phisics than Forza 4, maybe calling it PGR would be a bigger mistake, since PGR is more arcadey.

Yes a big problem. Let games of this size breathe. 2 years is far to fast of a turnaround for forza (proper). Yes graphics and physics will improve, but not the car list. I would say Forza 5 2013, Forza 6 2017-2018

2 years has been the standard cycle for Forza since the very beginning. It's also close to the standard cycle in the industry at the moment. Car selection has never been a problem for the series, but an extra year of development per title could be used for other improvements. 4-5 years between installments is way too long, however.

And 2 years IMO is way too short for something this size. I still buy, but would like to get more time with it. 2 years is incredibly short when you factor in the 6 months marketing lead in. Spread the DLC out a bit. I dont need monthly car packs. They could easily stretch into a 3rd year with all the car packs.

And wheres my track packs damn it!

I'm just looking forward to it because I got pretty bored playing the same tracks in Forza 4 after a few months. I do like having a variety of cars but perfecting a few cars and using your skill (with a wheel setup) on MANY tracks is what I like about racing.

More tracks!

Horizon gives me the opportunity to 'make my own track' it seems so if they have a checkpoint race maker or something similar where it is dynamic point A to B stuff, I'll be happy! My Fanatec setup has been accumulating dust lately ...

Honestly, more tracks is what will keep me coming back to a game.

Horizon will be arcadey, don't worry about that. I believe it uses Forza physics as a basic platform, but heavily tweaks them so that it's easy to powerslide through a picnic area, toppling fence posts and smashing through benches while leaning out of the window high-fiveing a spectator as your big-bore exhaust blows the bikini tops off a couple of cheerleaders.

Last time I tried that in Forza my Xbox red ringed and my TV exploded.

That's it Mascot, let it all out son.

I personally cannot fucking wait for this game. Forza: Dubstep Edition, Forza: NFS Bro Fist Pump Edition..whatever it is, i'm there like a bitch..

My frustrations purely lay in Turn 10's ever so slow and frustrating marketing strategy. It happens all the time and it sucks. I guess it works out well in the end but damn it's a bumpy ride..
