I bet we won't get shockland reprints. I think we'll get some new basic land type duals instead.
I get the same feeling. It will have the same forest island type of land type but not be shocklands.

They've said they are committed to keeping Modern a format anyone can jump into by reprinting key cards. They'll reprint the dual lands, there is 0 chance they don't.
I think we're getting the original shocklands back. Wizards has mentioned time and again that they plan to reprint Modern staples. The problem with creating new dual lands with land types, is instead of having everyone with shocklands, you have people with both having a distinct advantage over people with just the new lands.
Why would you do that? They're going to crash hard.I recently scooped up a bunch of shocklands minus the ones I didnt have that should be coming out in RTR. There is no way the more expensive ones will stay +20, but they wont be less than $10. I couldnt wait til gatecrash, so I got them for the other five guilds.

The effect of duel land types in standard is inconsequential if there isn't the advantage of fetch lands helping to fix your mana.
I'm expecting all 10 "M10" lands in the next core set, followed by the Onslaught Fetchlands in the one after that. (3 months of Fetch/Shock craziness= awesome, but not obnoxious.)The effect of duel land types in standard is inconsequential if there isn't the advantage of fetch lands helping to fix your mana.

They also will not be printing other "Dual Lands" (double land types) any time soon. If you do too many variants, they're not special anymore.
I didnt feel like waiting til February to get the duals that would come out in Gatecrash. Im still waiting on the ones that will come out in RtR. Also, im exclusively an EDH player, so I couldnt care less about them not possibly being in standard if they arent reprinted. Why would you do that? They're going to crash hard.

Dual lands are pretty much staples in just about every block with multi colored decks.
It's stupid but what can you do? I'd love to see WOTC print these lands at uncommon at some point.
It really would be for the good of the game if they did that. They are essential to 98% of the decks people play, they should make them readily available to everyone.

Bad for limited.
I don't understand how dual lands hover around 10 bucks each. I mean I know they're important but damn.. I really want 3 or 4 Isolated Chapels and the price is just turning me off
Keep in mind that Invasion/8th Ed Duals, Zendikar refuges, and Alara Tri lands were all Uncommon as well. I personally don't see how bad for limited uncommon duals could be, but they will indeed be rare.
The Ravnica Bouncelands were common. How did limited in there turn out?
I don't remember what those lands were off the top of my head but all the other dual lands I've seen are significantly worse than the rare ones. I think it would have a much bigger effect if the sac lands of zendikar were uncommon rather than the refuges.
Bad for limited.
Nope. Great for limited; we've had good fixing at uncommon before, and it usually makes the format more fun.
True, of the ones I mentioned, the Tri lands are probably the only ones that would be at about the same level.
For how ridiculous fetch lands are, they really shouldn't be uncommon.
Plus that block had uncommon duels, but they came into play tapped
What were the ones that you had to return a land but they always produced two? Where they rares? I forget what get they were.
The bouncelands? Those were common.
It's the fixing at a cost that makes it good for limited. Everyone drafting 4+ colors is bad for limited
I don't think you realize how uncommon print runs work.
Five good mana-fixing uncommons would not cause every player at the table to draft 4+ colors. Avacyn restored has great fixing at common in Borderland Ranger and Abundant Growth, and it's still almost entirely new players who splash a third color with a green deck in the format.
Also, in a faster format, the two life from a shockland is not insignificant.
When I first started playing magic, someone explained Phyrexian mana to me and my initial reaction was: You spend your life to cast a spell a turn earlier!?
I can definitely see how it can be beneficial, but it still struck me as reckless in a many circumstances.

The problem w/ the bouncelands is that they're card advantage. They won't be back.
I don't know... bouncelands are susceptible to non-basic land hate, and stuff like Spreading Seas.
That would require Wizards to print an effective piece of land hate.
It actually doesn't work right vs the Karoos if they're played T2/4/6.The uncommon land from Zendikar block was effective and widely played. Not much currently though

That totally looks like the new art for Temple Garden.
Um, I just came into some old cards, and amongst them were a copy of Bayou and one of Tropical Island. And... holy crap, do those actually sell for the prices listed on Amazon? They're even in good condition, hah.

Depends on the color of the borders. Black bordered are worth more than white bordered, but even the white bordered cards can fetch quite a bit. Any other gems?
yup
find out which edition it is. i assume they aren't black bordered.
in that case, unlimited ones are worth about 20-30 more.
how good is "good condition"?
White bordered. And in terms of condition, I see minor fraying on the back of the Bayou in one corner, and I can't see anything wrong with the Tropical Island.
And I'm not really sure what other gems I'd be looking for in the stack, worth-wise. I just knew the double-colored lands were supposed to be rare and saw those two. Didn't think they were THAT expensive though.
