Final Fantasy 13 - A Storm Gathers

I'm really starting to get the feeling whatever this is probably won't even be a game.

Maybe I'm reading to deep into it, but they really seem to be avoiding the word game here.

Yeah, the drunken analogy doesn't work as well with stoic, Valhalla Lightning as it does with reformed jerk soldier Lightning. ;-)

Generally speaking though, yes I found her portrayal in XIII-2 to be a lot drier/less interesting than her character in XIII. She's barely even a character in XIII-2, more like a cipher for the plot. There are a few hints here and there when she interacts with Serah, but other than that she's fairly personality-less comparatively speaking.

No, it's definitely a game. The wording seems pretty clear to me. What they're avoiding is calling it FFXIII-3.

Wonder if that means it's not a console sequel.

Also, the wording of "Lightning Saga" seems to imply that this is just the few 13 games with Lightning as the main (yeah right). Which means there could be more 13 games in the future, just not featuring Lightning?

No. Lightning Saga refers to all the games with Lightning in them so far, retroactively. FFXIII and FFXIII-2 are both parts of the Lightning Saga. This new game they're announcing will be the continuation of the "Lightning Saga" as well.

I don't know man, I'm more and more doubtful this is going to be an ending game for the trilogy. What if it's just a spin-off on set for 3DS? One thing is sure: Square Enix likes to surprise. I'm not expecting a game called XIII-3 at this point, it could be an action title instead, or a spin-off for portables, or a classic RPG delivered via DD episodically. My various bets are on these chances :P

That was bad anyway. Matsuno would never have approved of Ivalice Alliance. Not that it mattered, since Matsuno quit anyway. He walked away. Toriyama isn't a quitter. He will see this through to the end. <3

Obviously FFXIII Series HD Collection.

HD Collections for great titles worked so they decided to try something different. Re-release something with better reception, and have a lot of Collector's Edition stuff, pump out a few novels and maybe a Ultimania Omega Alpha, and lots of DLC. And you have to buy the 5 other roles as DLC too. As well as have to purchase each episode/chapter via episodic downloads, the Japanese are bound to buy it all.

Don't get me started on costume and weapon prices either.
 
IA got the same amount of games that FNC is getting. You guys want them to make IA games forever? Seems kind of hypocritical, especially since only two FNC games are even available in the west so far.

Actually the only Ivalice Alliance games are FFTA2, FFXIIRW, and FFT PSP. It's a brand started by Kawazu to milk Matsuno's legacy after he left the company. :P

Oh and let's not forget. Toriyama directed FFXIIRW. :P :P :P

Ivalnce Alliance games were good though.

Well I never played the advance games.

Also our problem isn't with FNC, it's with Lightning and her so called saga.

FNC also had Haeresis and there is the speculated final game after all 3 get their turn. Which would end the FNC arc.

You should, they're both amazing. I liked them better than the original FFT actually. There, I said it.
 
Man, I really hope it's a full on console game not a 3DS spinoff or whatever. I could even live with Dirge of Cerberus: FF13 or Lightning: Revengeance.

You seem upset. I don't have a problem with the game. I have an issue with bad storytelling. But as King from Type-0 has clearly pointed out, there is no use in reasoning with a trained dog.

The Ultimania pretty much confirmed that he traveled to the worlds of FF6,9,10,Dissidia,13(duh) and picked up swords from each and that he himself crafted his war fan.(During his time at his shop)

His battle intro by the arbiter basically said he's been around for centuries, and named him as the "Hero of the Void".

So a little bit. But just bits and pieces as usual.

If you want I can recite the arbiter's words which I've memorized just because.

She isn't the weakest but isn't the strongest either.(Though it's really subjective who's the strongest period)

Her enemy has a Xanatos Gambit.

Either way he wins.

That's true, I mean sure she could be powerful, but the only person we've seen her fight against outclassed her so...eh.

We'll see in whatever the hell this game is.

I mean every protagonist essentially becomes a walking death machine, but we have only seen Lightning fight an inevitable losing battle in her buffed state against one guy who was rigged to win. You kill him you lose, and if you don't kill him you still lose.

It's like putting Class Zero as L'cie up against the Lulusath Army, they get screwed.
