Creepy unsolved/paranormal/strange events thread

I am one of the many on here who have bouts of sleep paralysis. It started around 12-13ish while I was under quite a bit of stress in addition to all the puberty stuff. I had stretches of every night for 3 months straight. The worst one was when there was a swirling black could of hate outside my window. That's the only time I've ever seen any kind of demon or monster. It usually is just me realizing I'm in SP and trying as hard as I can to move my pinky or something. But this, this thing shook me for years.

It was just so...hateful. It was like the embodiment of bad. It had a very vague face, but it was the feeling that stuck with me. It still does. I still get SP fairly regularly, though it stopped bothering me long ago. Sometimes I even have dreams that I'm having SP and I'm lucid enough to realize it is both a dream and SP, which seems a little too meta for my tastes.

Also, the previous owners of the house I mostly grew up in were a doctor and nurse couple. There is a display case on the wall going up the stairs. Apparently they kept their still born baby in a jar on display there. Now, I don't know how true that is, but that's what my mom told me when we moved in when I was 7, and I don't know why the fuck a mother would tell a kid that young something like that just to fuck with them. In the basement there is a crawl space built into the wall that is full of dirt and only big enough for the size of small children to fit in. It always creeped me the fuck out. I've always felt there had to be some bones in there, but no one can fit past their shoulders. What's the point of a crawl space so small no one can crawl in it? That house just has weird vibes. My bedroom door used to pop open so often that I started locking it at a young age. And it still would pop open. That eventually stopped, though. But for a good 3-4 years, my bed room door would just open on its own. I guess it could have been drafts or something, but with the door locked? I wouldn't suggest it is haunted or anything, but it for sure has a weird feel to it. I've house sat for them and had girlfriends or friends over and they have all commented that it just feels tense when you walk in.

Yeah I was staring at it for a decent amount of time lol. Felt about as rare as seeing a meteorite for me. I think i've seen two small and one decent sized meteorite so far.

The few times I've seen a satellite, it was moving quite fast. Not anywhere as fast as a meteor, but it was out of sight within 10 seconds.

I was at a dark sky site and caught one of the really impressive Leonids showers back around 2001. For over an hour, there were at least a couple meteors streaking by every few seconds. Some of them were so bright you could see the shadow of your body on the ground. This was at midnight out in the country, with no artificial light sources for dozens of miles. So you can imagine how bright they were to create shadows.

About a year ago I was driving home late one night on my motorcycle, and out of my peripheral vision, I saw this huge bright streak flash across the sky. I think it was a bolide.

Does anybody have an idea on what is in this GIF? An airplane or star, perhaps?

Do you have some reason to believe its not a plane?

It's from a Weatherbug webcam. Below is a picture of the area during the day.

I'd guess a star/planet. Depends on the direction the cam is facing and the location, but Sirius or Jupiter would be my two guesses.

destination truth
ufo hunters wasn't bad if you ignore most of what the main people are saying.

The ghost ones I feel are fairly popular at this point so i'm sure you know all of them like ghost hunters, ghost lab, ghost adventures.

That was a creepy story. Anyone here ever heard of a young woman named Anneliese Michel? She was a woman thought to be possessed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anneliese_Michel

She may have just been sick mentally. She was taking prescription medicine but it didn't seem to help.

Here's a vid I found on youtube with audio of her: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4n9vK0_mdk

Looks like the video has pictures of her as her health was fading so know that. Her voice does sound pretty creepy.

Got to about a minute in and turned it off.

So here's a story for you GAF.

Three years ago I went to a national chess tourney with some friends. We stopped off at a restaurant, and there was this older man there who claimed he was traveling cross country, meeting famous people and the like. So the friends I'm traveling with- their Dad tells me to go interview him for the trip. I had brought along a video camera, you see, to document the trip and the tourney. So I went over to him and sat down and offered him an interview about his travels. He seemed jovial at first, but when I brought up cameras he became alarmed as hell, and very unsettled. I had to promise him not to record him in any way. I was a bit put off, but I agreed. So I decided to try my best to remember the conversation after we had it and I would jot it down later.

So for the first half of the conversation everything went pretty all right. He told me stories of his travels on the road, close calls in towns, people trying to mug him, close calls hitchhiking with people who turn out not so normal (ironic really), and places he'd been. He also liked talking up religion a lot. So then he starts talking about one time he camped outside of a town in Minnesota. He tells me how he stops at this diner, and this girl there starts hitting on him. The story got really weird, and long story short, it turned into him trying to run away from this girl after she found him at his campsite and tried to rape him. But I chocked it up as a tale he told to spice up the conversation because he enjoyed my company, and I let it go. But then he hit me with a zinger. He told me that he predicted what the girl was going to do. He told me he could predict things because he had power. He started talking about the Bible, God, and the second coming a lot. Then he got in my face and said he thought he could trust me. So he asked me if I wanted to know who he really was. I started getting really unsure about this whole thing, but I said sure. He took his hands and placed them on the table, laying them flat. On his palms were holes going straight through, from one side to the other. His feet had them too. He said he was marked as the Second Coming, and he was traveling the country bringing the truth and healing and helping others, and operating a website out of his van. He said he had not yet risen to power, but he would, and when he had met his quota, he would bring Heaven back to Earth. All I could think was "Holy shit, holy shit, this guy stabbed nails through his hands and feet. Please don't kill me, Mister. I've got so much to give." A friend of mine came over to tell me we were leaving at that point, and he also saw the "stigmata" on the guys hands. He just stared at it, like "Holy shit, does this guy think he's really Jesus Christ"? The guy told me his website. I looked it up later. It doesn't exist. I swear there was a van outside with a satellite dish though. I almost said there wasn't but then I remembered there was. He told us to be careful on our trip as bad storms would be coming and they would rain on the good and the wicked alike. Sure enough, on our way back days later, we ran through some pretty heavy, tornadic thunderstorms.

I'll never forget that shit as long as I live. I sat right across from a man who stabbed himself in the hands and feet with nails. It's vaguely paranormal due to the storms, but I don't believe shit of his story.

I'll be waiting. lol

Please do - this is a fascinating account... nobody ever actually seems to present any evidence for these things so if you would spend an hour or so of your time to do so, it would be very much appreciated!

Edit: For example, rather than 'one of these days', since you've taken the time to tell us about it could you do it whenever you have a spare moment?

[Two weeks later...]

... Of course he couldn't. Reckon we'll hear from him again in this thread?

are there any good paranormal tv shows or documentaries? i checked out 'paranormal witness' but thats just not doing it...

If you're talking about shows that are currently on the air, not so much. Ancient Aliens is at least entertaining. If you haven't seen them and are willing to look for them both Unsolved Mysteries and the In Search Of... with Leonard Nimoy narrating are probably the best of that type of show. You'd think there would be better stuff out there given how much is produced, but it's all mostly garbage. It's mostly for people into watching dudes act scared on night vision cameras.

Not really paranormal, but there's a good documentary on the Toynbee tiles mystery on Netflix Instant, Resurrect Dead.

For older shows sightings would scare the shit out of me, when I was a kid.

It's an incredibly unsettling, difficult read. Be prepared.

(I once put the book down for years because I got terrified during a part that shouldn't have been creepy)

That's even more promising! Heading to half-price books now! What section would it be under? Fiction or horror?

So last night I was enjoying the cool weather and sitting outside listening to Pandora. I look up and see something that I can only describe as a flame in the sky. I took my headphones off to see if I could hear any noise with it, and nope nothing. It was bright, orange, and flickering. Not flickering like a plane flickers it lights on and off, but like an actual candle flame moving and flickering. It didn't have a tail at all and almost seemed to vary its speed at times. It disappeared after a few minutes.

So GAF, swamp gas, OR ALIENS?

I know they're not real but reading some of the SCP files at that one site (made up story files) does give me the creeps.

Will-o'-the-Wisp, obviously.

I go to Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota Florida, and one of the building, Keaton I believe is haunted by a female ghost named Mary.
There are reports of inanimate objects moving like dressers and paintbrushes and a female figure walking down the hallway. Fortunately I do not stay there, but a roommate of mine has a girlfriend who stays there and lives nears the guy who has the room where the women killed herself. I have not seen it, glad I haven't and I never will.

You just jinxed it. She's coming for you.

shamelessly taken from the 'Haunting Recordings' thread.
This is my most recent post from there regarding former police officer/current missing persons investigator & author David Paulides and his interview with George Knapp on Coast to Coast AM back in June:

Anyone else listening to C2C right now? This current story about the missing boy in Tennessee is bone-chilling. When Paulides mentioned the family in Cades Cove (I've been there many times before) that noticed a strange figure darting between trees while watching them, and then hearing a blood-curdling scream, I had to get up and go take a coffee break.

I love George Knapp's shows.

Listened to the YouTube link another GAFer kindly shared on this show (thanks INDIGO).

http://thedemoniacal.blogspot.com/2012/06/coast-2-coast-am-june-24-2012-more-odd.html (link is on this site)

*Note: this is a commercial-edited full recording, so it's about 2 & a half hours long, but well worth the listen. Paulides is really interesting and not just another C2C nutjob.

Man, oh man... very creepy stuff. I'm just fascinated by the Dennis Martin case. What the hell happened to that kid? Why were the Green Beret there (same with the Douglas Legg case in NY two years later)?

Also the Bart Schleyer case. No way a guy with his level of skill and expertise gets overtaken by a bear without some kind of struggle. Also: his pants were found, undamaged (although this conflicts with another report I read), and inside out? What the hell? The guy was apparently completely consumed other than a few small bones and a piece of his jaw. Something is just very wrong about that one, especially.

Started the one on Mel's Hole from Art Bell (1997 through 2002, was it?).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRUDvPO4-Hc
Only got about 7 parts in and look forward to picking it up again tonight. Read up on it, though.
There is no trace of anyone by the name of 'Mel Waters' in that area, especially one that owns property. There is speculation of where the hole might be, but nothing that matches caller Mel's descriptions (i.e. metal cover, etc.). People are still looking for it.
. Even if it is just a classic nutty Art Bell caller, it's a fascinating little story so far.

This story's six years old but it's a creepy one about a black eyed man encounter in an elevator: http://paranormal.about.com/library/blstory_november06_17.htm

Also lately on some podcasts I listen to, I've been hearing about people having had encounters with what looks like a man who looks like he's completely soaked in blood. One of the weirdest things I've ever heard about.

I still await my first 'black-eyed person' encounter.

Maybe they just don't give a shit enough about me to come into my house? :(

You should find a nice dark place and just look up at the sky, they're really easy to spot once you get used to what they look like.

edit- satellites that is.

I don't know how I'd react honestly if I ever ran into one. Part of me is kind of fascinated with the whole black eyed kids/people myth. But then again some of these stories sound pretty frightening.

People always seem to feel a sense of dread around these beings.

This isn't exactly paranormal, but it freaked me out a great deal when it happened. It was around 1AM and I was browsing the web on my laptop in my couch when I suddenly see a very bright light outside the window. I mean, it was really bright, like "lighting up the sky" bright. I see what looks like a huge green fireball with a red tail quickly falling out of the sky, and it lasted maybe a second or two. There's a military base in the direction I saw it at, so my immediate thought was a crashed plane but I never saw or heard an explosion/crash, so I thought it was an UFO. Although technically it was, since I had no idea what it was at the time. I immediately started asking people if they had seen anything, and after a while a friend said he had been in his car and had seen the ground lit up for a second or two. He was in another town 17 metric miles away, and people on forums that had been many miles in the opposite direction had also seen it. It turns out it was a bolide, and I found this video that looks exactly like the one I saw, except "mine" burned out a lot faster and may have been brighter because of that. As I said, not exactly paranormal, but I was very shaken and tense right after I saw it.

yeah, I joke about it, but no... I wouldn't ever want to have an experience like the ones I've read. Especially if they come in the form of little kids. *shivers*

Something creepy happened on GAF to me about a year back. I was really fucked up one night and was browsing the pics that make you laugh thread and I kinda was drifting in and out of sleep. Well all I remember was looking up at the screen and seeing a bunch of images, one after the other to create a kind of scene, where a guy was slitting his wrist at a kitchen table and his friend comes in and starts freaking out.

I didn't really think I was seeing what I was but I got a little freaked out and just closed everything. I told my gf about it in the morning but she didn't believe me. I wasn't fucked up enough to see things and I wasn't tripping or anything so I still don't know what that was.

I had a very weird experience: it happened almost 10 years ago, in summer, when I was a kid, around 11 pm in the town where I live.
I was in the garden, playing with a friend. Suddenly she exclaimed "wow, look at the sky!": there was a triangular shaped object above the house. In a blink it was over our heads, it was black with many yellow/red little lights and a big spinning sphere in the center. I remember this sphere vividly: there were two rotating liquids inside it, one yellow and the other one orange.
I also remember a deep, buzzing sound.
I ran to my house and started screaming "we must call the police and the journalists!" to my parents. They calmed me down, and I spent the rest of the night watching the sky.
It was a life-changing experience, and I still don't know what that object was.

Yeah it's a bit disturbing since my mom witnessed one of the encounters herself. She was/is haunted/cursed/whatever-you-wanna-call-it. She had been abducted by Jinns/Demons numerous times for a year or so before she disappeared (she has been missing for atleast 3 years now).

The priest who worked on her successful/unsuccessful exorcism has quit practicing it and now has 4 guards guarding his house 24/7.

My mom has seen her throw men (who were trying to control her) who weigh much more than an average person would. The Jinn/Demon wanted to Marry her or something.

At one instance she disappeared in front of their eyes. Ten minutes later, her family got a called from other relatives of mine that she has been sitting in their roof. Mind you, they live approximately four hours away from their home and there is no way in hell anyone could just "disappear" and walk/drive/fly that fast.

I should stop since typing this is making me shiver...

The fuck!

@_@

The Ghosthunters episode with the civil war soldier showing up on the thermal camera was so awesome. That was one episode where you seriously had to wonder.

The episode with the lighthouse, when the ghost/shadow figure runs fas as hell up the stairs. That shit had me creeped out.

How is it that I just saw this post? Wow, man this story is crazy.

Just read the story of the Solway Firth spaceman. Very odd.

ne5053e8ff.jpg

On May 24th, 1964, Jim Templeton, a fireman from Carlisle in North England, snapped some pictures of his young daughter out to the marches overlooking the Solway Firth. Although it was an uneventful outing, Templeton and his family noticed an odd "aura" to the area there - as if there was an electric charge in the air before a storm. No storm came, but Templeton did observe that some nearby cows seems overly upset and spooked. A few days later, after the film was developed, Templeton was shocked to discover that a strange man appeared in one of the photos of his daughter even though they had been alone on the marshes. The man appeared to be wearing a space suit like an astronaut! Kodak offered a reward for anyone able to give a rational explanation for the space man picture, but no one was able to. Experts concluded that the picture was not the result of a double exposure, nor was it the result of tampering with the negative.

The mystery didn't end there. Templeton reported that shortly after the picture became public, he was harassed by men in dark suits who asked him odd questions about the weather conditions on the marsh, bird behaviors, and what Templeton was doing out there on the first place. They then tried to make him admit that he had faked the picture and, when Templeton refused to, they became angry and left.

I find it funny that we assume space aliens would appear like us, wear the same type of gear as us, and have the same body posture as us.

Too much ego-centrism in that story for me to believe it.
