The fact that Jesse's speeches in Problem Dog AND One Minute (his rant to Walt about how he turned his life to shit is better than forty end-episode shootouts put together) are nowhere in that top 10 has made me realize that maybe I just enjoy the show for different reasons and that's why I hopped off Team Walt so early, why I think Skyler is a victim not a "bitch" (ugh).

I don't think anyone who hates SkySky uses such gender-specific words as "bitch", but Skyler as a victim? That's rich.

I have a new theory. We already discussed the theory that maybe Walt goes back for Jesse or for some random death wish that he has. But what if he comes back to town after the flash forward to help Hank? Maybe he catches word that the cartel or his new associates plan to take out Hank or something, and Walt goes back with the M60 to help. And maybe THAT'S the moment Hank realizes Walt is much more than he ever thought.

Got an idea while chatting with my friend today, the following is strictly theory and speculation on my behalf. Avoid it if you don't want to get any ideas stuck in your head.

[SEASON 5 SPOILERS FOLLOW]

Do you guys think there's any significance behind the bacon Walt breaks up in the first scene? I'm talking about the scene at Denny's at the beginning of S5. In an older season he had Skyler do it for his birthday. Since he's doing it on his own might that mean he's missing Skyler? Perhaps either because he's had to abandon his family or because she's dead???

Aside from a few incredible moments, I'd say that this season has been really disappointing so far. I really wish they just filmed the 16 episodes and released them consecutively because the first half just doesn't feel nearly as good when you know you have to wait a year to finish it.

I don't feel that at all. I'm loving this season. The wait is just a wait. Doesn't hinder anything for me.

I like this season a whole lot. The action has been non-stop. It has better momentum than previous seasons, imo.

With the amount of crazy drama that has been going on after every episode I don't know how you can come up with that conclusion. This season has built tons of momentum after every episode, and every action by Walter has felt extremely heavy.

I echo these thoughts. Season 4 was a slow build up to a legendary second half, Season 5 has been balls to the wall from the beginning.

Turning the most interesting character on tv into a cartoon villain was a pretty big let-down for me.

This is still the best series on tv right now, but it isn't lapping the rest of the pack like it was in Season 4, IMO.

Most shows are better than Mad Men, though.

.

Walt is an extremely complicated character, much moreso now than he ever was.

He takes care of his family, but he also wears that persona like a creepy mask.

He gets a high from danger, but he finds more joy now in manipulating people than he did in killing them.

Walter White genuinely thought that he could win this game he was playing, and still hold onto the family he originally sought to protect. But he wasn't the same. And they weren't the same.

So he falls further and further into the darkness. He has cancer, but also his whole existence is a cancer that slowly spreads to anyone with whom he comes into contact.

In the beginning, you could describe Walter White as pathetic, desperate, and scared. Now that he's overcome fear, he uses his brilliant mind not for the betterment of mankind, but for the destruction of others.

Every word he says has an ulterior motive. Even when he tells the truth, he wants something in return, down the line.

You don't give credit to Bryan Cranston's portrayal of Walter White when you imply that the show hasn't earned his transformation.

We have seen this man explore every facet of the human condition and emerge as something more, not less.

This is what the show is all about. I'm not watching some stupid super hero like meth cook always battling the odds with cancer and cartels. This is real shit.

Anybody else think Walt's clothes in the premiere flash forward were too large for him? I wonder if they belong to someone else.

Or he's sick and losing weight. I know some people have questioned the idea that the cancer is back in the flash forward, but it seems pretty obvious to me that it is.

it would also explain why he'd go back and do something crazy with an M60. When you're gonna die anyway....

real shit? lol

walt basically is a superhero.. of cooking meth. only 1 of 2 people in america can cook it like him!

Walt is a super meth cook but a terribly incompetent drug kingpin. He's ultimately good for just cooking the stuff but he has delusional aspirations of being at the top as Lord Heisenberg, and keeps screwing things up. Heisenberg is the Keyser Soze-like superhuman crime entity; Walt is an immoral fuck-up who's going to get everyone including himself killed or otherwise ruined in short order.

The turning point was killing Gus. He feels in power more than ever now. The thought of having his own business and not following anyone's order's has gotten into his head.
