I can't that set on the S@H site either. I wonder if they've already stopped printing them.

Ya, they are out of production.

On the plus side, I just stopped at Walmart to pick up milk and a kid helped find me Santa and the Man-bat from series 8! The additions I wanted for the Winter Cottage and the Haunted House.

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet but I just got my Fall 2012 Catalog and it has the following deals:

Free shipping and exclusive Monster Fighters set on orders over $75
10% off one item in store coupon (gonna use that on the Haunted House)
Earn double VIP points on the following:
LOTR Battle of Helm's Deep
City Mining Collection (Mining 4x4, Loader and Tipper, Mining Truck, Excavator Transport, The Mine)
Marvel Super Heroes Collection (Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk)
Star Wars Buildable Galaxy Collection 2 (X-Wing/Yavin, Cloud Car/Bespin, AT-ST/Endor)
Star Wars Old Republic Collection (Sith Fury Interceptor, Republic Striker Class Starfighter)
Star Wars Return of the Jedi Collection (Jabba's Palace, Desert Skiff)

Death Star and SSD last time we had 2X is partially how I got a new set via points.

Smart move - SSD was bought via $100 amazon credit. Death Star (I hate you Bone...) will be bought with 2x VIP and 10% off likely. That's still a hefty point load towards Tower Bridge or Grand Emporium.

*maniacal laugh. MANIACAL LAUGH!*

I know you don't like "playsets." But I have a strong feeling that the Death Star will turn you around. Hell, the SSD made you consider another Star Wars set, so that is something.

*cries because I cant get an SSD yet.*

Wetwired (I think it was you), the inventory for Haunted House is out. So you can replace all the green bricks in it if you like.

EDIT: Hmmm. I looked up directions to nearest Lego store. Closest is 78 miles away. Is it sad that I am considering that instead of ordering online? At least that way I get instant gratification. And gas is about as cheap as shipping at that distance. During double VIP that is.

Make a trip of it - LEGO, food with the misses (assuming you have one), find some cool shops to browse. That's what me and my fiancee do when I want to hit up the nearby store.

Damn, where did you find out about that? Were all Lego stores doing it, or just Stratford?

Edit: shit, was all Lego stores.

Sorry, should have mentioned it here but just didn't occur to me. They seem to do them every so often, I've been twice now and to be in the store with no kids allowed is great. This one being a Saturday was a bit early but it was less busy than the last one which was a Sunday.

Building R2 now, last night I did the body and parts of the legs, just the head and finishing touches to go now and I will say there are some great building tricks in there. No upside down bricks yet but I put it on a par with the Fire Brigade.

You know what. I think I'm gonna hold off on Haunted House and try to swing Death Star in October. $40 in credit...too good to pass up.

It will be interesting to see just how many gaffers really do buy Death Stars next month. Phonci should get a commission.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey sets (spoilers for movie/book):

79000 Cave Gollum – € 13.99
79001 Spiders of Mirkwood Forest – € 31.49
79002 Attack of the Wargs – € 59.99
79003 An Unexpected Gathering – € 79.99
79004 Escape in the Barrels - € ??.??
79010 The Battle Against the King of the Goblins – €99.99

I think its an incomplete list, as we are missing sets 79005 through 79009.

I hope the other sets are LotR sets. These all sound great and I'm sure I'll end up getting them, but there are some major gaps I need filled here!

Can't wait to see 79003, in particular

Haha, they have to save those for between the Hobbit movie releases!

Spring or Summer 2013 would be a good guess for when more LotR sets will come.

Cool, I'll have to add them to my wanted list, I'm in no hurry to grab the haunted house though, we don't get free postage here and it's $270 so I can wait.

EDIT> Just had a quick check on brick link, all the pieces I'd need to build it in sand blue are available except the 1x1x5 high brick pillar thing, but that's not problem really as it can easily be replaced with 5x 1x1 bricks.

"The small set with Gandalf and Frodo would look cool, and it isn't too expensive"
"Yes it is"

:(
"I love my old CASTLE sets honey. Most especially these 2 carts of a King & his court magician running away from bandits on horse carts."

Or

"I didn't know this castle has 2 extensions on the sides of it."

Or

"Wow, that giant spider on that ghost train is a nice touch."

I could go on...

So damn good wetwired. Excellent work. Bat plane thingy from TDKR next?

Not sure to be honest, I'm contributing my modular costume store to an upcoming lego expo at the end of September, so I'm gonna be busy rebuilding that. There's also rumours that the TDKR set Lego is brining out next year will have The Bat in it, so I'll wait to see how that looks first, if it's anything like their Tumbler I will be disappoint.

They're going to wait until next year for the DKR sets? What are they thinking

I like the way you think.

My wife noticed Fire Brigade obviously, but hasn't noticed the fact that the number of mini figs on our shelf has gone from 8 or 9 to 70+...

She also doesn't know anything about Star Wars so...of *course* the Tie Fighter came with the X Wing right?

LegoGaf, I humbly present to you my first MOC*! I'm quite happy with it; the box/snake-tongue combination, claws and the exposed, bloodied shoulder bone are components that I am particularly chuffed with. Don't ask me what the hell it is, as I honestly have no idea. I was originally going for a slightly smaller jungle themed Mech and it kinda just twisted itself into this grotesque bastard. I guess he's blind and goes around screaming to the heavens in the throes of extreme pain and yearning. Yeah. Intense back-story, yo.

Yeah.

Anyway! Have a gander. And thanks to Phonciple et al. who have quietly inspired me with their own awesome stuff.

*Technically, if you're to count my paltry Sex-Wing gantry, it is indeed my second MOC. It is also not completely "my own". The torso is that of the Mobile Frame Zero Chub. Props to the original builder!

That is fucking awesome. I absolutely adore it. Like a twisted new final fantasy enemy.

looks really cool, even if i dont know what I am looking at ^^
the fact that it looks very un-LEGO and organic is neat too :)

Hmmmm...So what color would be best if I wanted to replace the green bricks for the Haunted House. I want to make it a little more...I guess more scarier/creepy looking. I don't mind the green too much, but in the back of my mind, I kind of wish they would had used a different color.

I'm thinking Dark red, maybe?

Anyone up for photoshopping? :P Curious to know what would be the best color scheme.

I think Sand Green isn't bad. It's a greenish grey which fits decay/zombie. Another good choice would be Sand Blue though:

I'm visiting family for Labor Day weekend, and my dad found this in the garage. I have NO idea how old this box is, but it's pretty amazing. The pieces inside are from some old robo line. I can't remember which one, but I remember they were black and trans green and trans red.

I took a close up of some of the more bizarre pieces I found. I have NO idea where the funky purple and turquoise pieces are from, but they appear to be Technic (given the flex tube and launcher). Also, that grey piece was some sort of cockpit style piece from an older few sets.

And of course, two random Star Wars minifigs. Not a bad collection to run across!

E: Woops, gotta move links...one sec. Fixed!
