Don't films do the exact same thing and get away with it. I think you are confusing pretension with passion.

Pretty much. It's called marketing. Remember Reach? (Pun intended)

"Noble Team will be the first time you see Spartans that feel like actual human beings." Instead we got Captain Bland, Geek the Cocky, Hyper-Lethal Vector, Big Teddy Bear, Mystical Sniper and Man With Anger Management Issues.

Not dissing Jorge, he was my bro.

On an unrelated note: sounds like the Halo theme is back after all.

This is actually looking pretty good. I never really cared much for Halo's story and i thought the campaigns were at times boring, open arena shootouts(Played and beat halo 3 and Reach) but this one looks interesting.

The facial expressions and graphics have improved TREMENDOUSLY from Reach. This doesn't even look like it's on the same gen.

I may actually pop in SP first when I get this on Launch rather than go straight into MP(which will be VERY tempting.)

I can't wait.

People don't seem to understand that the Brazzers thing only works if the image has a video quality to it. DOF or any filmish quality is automatic fail when you try to add the Brazzers logo. Also the angle must be straight on, people also tend to forget this...

And if you were going to do it, wouldn't you use Cortana?

Pretty lame.

Man, why can't they get Marty O'Donnell back just for this one game? Can't they just pay Bungie like a million and get him to score the game?

Because there's a whole frigging trilogy of Halo games coming from 343i. Because Marty does more than just music for Bungie (i think he's their sound director as well, no?). Because 343i wants their own style for this music, something new by a new composer.

Exactly right. People who whine about too much story seeping into their games make me cringe. It's not pretentious to tell a good story. It's good story-telling.

I don't understand what you are saying ...... I for one never "whined" about too much story seeping into the game.

I felt that the tone of the video and the languages used was a little overwhelming to the point of absurdity.

How you are deriving "it's not pretentious to tell a good story" from what I posted is beyond me.

I had made my feelings clear on my problems with the video, and as someone pointed out the games industry in general ........ something I thought was worth pointing out especially at the moment with regards to the Polygon video incident (not as extreme as that video).

I felt that the language describing the story etc was very overwrought and inflated and essentially got in the way of content.

I am sorry for posting about this again, I had a conversation with a few posters earlier and it was done ..... but the poster I quoted was being disingenuous in his take on my posts.

It's kind of strange that the voice actors don't also perform motion capture (like in Uncharted). The way it's done in Halo 4, the voice actors in the studio have to match up with the facial animation performed by someone else. I hope it doesn't lead to instances where the voice and lips don't match up properly.
only chief and cortana and one is wearing a helmet and the other is made of light - all other characters are "in-scene."

What's wrong with CTF?

Auto Flag pick up
Can't drop flag
Flag + Pistol with a lot of bloom
Move faster and jump higher while holding flag
There's a waypoint telling you where the enemy is with your flag
1 Flag hit kill

Please don't tell me you asked because you like all of these

People who are passionate about the game they are making and share some of their thought process is pretentious? Yeah, no.

People who whine and call other games are shit or downplay other games that have brought their own style to the market are what I would call pretentious. And nowhere in this video did that ever occur.

What if this is a custom game type?

Wait... What?! Is that just gossip, or is that confirmed? I hadn't heard this. Sounds terrible :( Quite the list of changes. Seems to take away a lot of the tried-and-TRU strategy from past Halo games.

i remeber that game informer mentioned some "cinematic gameplay scenes" comparable to qte's (like the scene with the elite that gets thrown down the elevator shaft).

Oh ok. I thought that scene was just a scripted event and not really QTE like we know it to be. Like the Promethean Knight jumping on your face.

This way of thinking is what cost us Splinter Cell fans Michael Ironside. :(
I'm glad 343 went with this route.

Chief's voice is going to start to sound incredibly out of place if this game actually has a focus on story. I mean, it's a cool sounding voice, but it's not one that has any range or conveys any emotion. It sounds weird when played against normal voices. From that video I'd rather have the mocap actors' voices.

(Though I obviously realize you could never swap out voices in the middle of a series this massive)

My point was actually more about the crap games are getting now for emphasizing story and emotion. Wasn't aimed at you, so I'm sorry if you took it that way. Tomb Raider for example. I'm a fan of good story regardless of the medium.
