So, did a lot of time pass or what? From Walt saying he's out to Hank's dump. Notice Hank walks perfectly fine.

Also, I wish people would give Hank more credit, he's a bad ass and just as determined as Walt. People seem to think of Hank as some goofball, but he's great at his job and headstrong about going after Heisenberg.

Also, I'm still confused: Were there two books or what? Hank has the book in the flashback, was it evidence he was showing Walt? How did Walt get it in his house!??

Absolutely loved this half-season. Some of the best cinematography yet, awesome montages, and gruesome violence. The only fault was Jesse being thrust into the background a little, but I'm sure he'll have more screentime next year.

it's not the same book. among gale's personal journal entries was something about WW, his bright shining star, some such thing. then there is this dedication in the front of leaves of grass, which is slightly altered but reminiscent.

there you go.

Can this somehow be justified? Is there a way Walt and Gale can be affiliated without it being criminal? They are both chemistry buffs so maybe they could have just been good friends? Nah, this wouldn't work since Walt already saw him on '4,3,2,1 Earth Below Us'. And Hank surely thought ''someone else entirely, right under my noise'.

Anyhow I'd like to know what you all in here think could be a possible opening for SE5EO9.

Maybe if Hank has his gun, he'll come back to the patio pointing it at Walt, telling him he's under arrest.

The book in the flashback is Gale's lab journal.

1) They make you think that Walt came to kill Jesse at his place as the final cleanup and his journey toward the dark side would be complete.

2) They make you think there's a body or a head in the bag that Walt left Jesse.

3) They make you think something's gonna happen to the poor baby with Walt Jr. pushing her by the pool, and they made such a thing out of "Put some suntan lotion on her!" but again it was nothing.

This show was messing with us so bad tonight. I thought the season so far was mostly boring but this was a really good episode and now I can't wait for next year.

And don't pretend a bunch of you didn't also think most of the season was a snooze.

That's the entire point. Would there have been tension in those scenes with the Walt we knew at the beginning of the season? I seriously doubt it. This episode was all about highlighting the transformation through this season more than any other. That he was willing to ricin Lydia and that Jesse was scared enough to grab a gun for protection speaks to a different Walter White than we knew not long ago. I think it's kind of short-sighted to call that intervening transformation 'boring'.

As for Hank, he's clearly just taking a massive dump, he'll be none the wiser next year.

On what grounds? Owning suspicious literature? It's going to be Hank's challenge in dealing with this next season. He has to choose how to proceed and in attempting to apprehend Heisenberg he needs to actually do some work.

OH! Right, I thought Hank was reading the letter in the book as it was in the flashback. This makes so much sense, thanks.

Also, it's great to see that it was just a hint to Hank, and that he just needed that little tick to set his determined mind going

I recall there being an interview (with Gillian maybe) saying that Walt does something that most people won't forgive him for. I'm assuming that hasn't happened yet because I still like Walt... A lot.

I honestly think the next episode starts with Walt in class, teaching again.

Hank asked Walt to help him with the Gale thing. Walt looked at the lab notes and it said to WW and Hank joked what if it stood for Walter White. That's what the flashback was. At the time Walt managed to figure out Gale was talking about a poet not him and it satisfied Hank.

This book in the bathroom is completely different and says 'to my other WW'. It can only mean Walt and that's why Hank was reminded of it.

For people who forgot/not sure.

Fuck, I just caught the "We? Who's we" throwback to Jane. Awesome.

They've done this countless times throughout the series, but it's amazing everytime.

Ahh, more proof of Walt's hubris!

What's the throwback? It's been so long since I've seen the past episodes.

And who started this awesome Hank meme? Where is the original? Reddit?

The way I see it the possibilities are:

A. The cancer is back. This, along with seeing the fruits of his labor struck a chord prompting him to retire.

B. The cancer isn't back, but going through the exam process made him remember why he got into this in the first place and what's important. He's made his money and now chooses his family.

C. The cancer isn't back, in fact he's still in remission. This confirms to Walt he truly can have his cake and eat it to. He isn't out, he's merely making Skylar believe he is.

D. The cancer is back and he wants what may be a short amount of time remaining with his kids. He isn't out but insulates Skylar to be around his family.

The shot of the book was there from the scene after the opener with Walt in the shower. Perfect close up and framing of it in the shot lol. Just noticed it watching the encore.
