Forza Horizon - Fall 2012 - Developed by PlayGround Games

It certainly looks like Forza in the videos, judging the car weight and sense of speed. Also always love those tire physics.

This in a way is like a new PGR, the cars will be a mix of sim and light arcade and everything I have seen just reminds me of PGR so much, in a good way.

Haven't been following this game at all, but that preview stung my interest.

Two questions, first, are the physics as good as in Forza 4? Or did they NFS that shit up and ruined a good game?

2, any idea of a car list so far?

I played the game at E3 and physics are very similar to Forza Motorsport 4 - a little more forgiving, but still nothing like NFS or Burnout games.

Turn10 is revealing new cars every day on Facebook. You can check confirmed roster there: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.457570974265815.100102.185465731476342&type=3

I'm undecided about Horizon but if it's akin to PGR, I'll most certainly buy it.

You should probably mention it again. You know, just to be sure no one missed it..

Anwyay, can't wait to play this game. I didn't quite see it coming. To be honest I didn't even bother to check out the previews because I expected something of the same, just less.. But day/night cycles, traffic, open world.. Just seems like a nice change for the "series".

I'm joking.

I think anybody with a good set of eyes can see why this is 30fps.

If next gen incorporates all this at a higher framerate/resolution... Jaws will be dropped.

It's more like TDU/Paradise but with Forza 4 physics (more forgiving). If you play Forza you will feel right at home.

Microsoft really need to find a new product design. The Kinect/Xbox box already ugly enough with the shitty looking banner it doesn't help with Forza Horizon cover. The arts is so generic looking. Look at new NFS, that's a classy looking box. I am not even sure why they pick that hot pink and have it clash with the yellow car. *sigh* I am not sure ho T10 went from stylish looking Forza 2 cover to this...

The way I see it (Of course, IMHO) Forza Horizon is everything Turn 10 couldn't do this gen without compromising the 60FPS locked design of the main series.

It's no surprise that suddenly the headlights are working again in Horizon.

And there's dirt roads...etc

Move it!

I don't think so.

But ok, it is not a Forza Motorsport game.

Forza Motorsport = racing simulation video games series (FM1, FM2, FM3, FM4)
Forza Horizon = Open World racing game, an Forza spin-off.

wrong

forza motorsport = semi sim series losing focus on what made forza so great in the first place

horison = nfs unlimited cash grab ;)

I wish when you block someone, you would also not see their posts when someone else quote him. *sigh* another thread I have to avoid beside the Forza 4.

80% pretty much is. Models, most of the physics, engine, audio etc..

so, have those guys talk, rather than dan and the community guy from turn 10?

also, i seriously doubt the "80%" figure

Thanks for responding but I'll wait for user reviews before committing as I pretty much moved on from the Xbox 12 months ago but I have an itch to buy the 360 one last game. FWIW, I've played FM (1 through 4), Burnout Paradise and TDU2 so Horizon should suit my gaming tastes.

what? crazy.

rallisport wasnt returning anyways though, at least not anytime soon. still holding out hope for codies to return dirt to a rally focus now that they have showdown... they seem to be the last hope and are rumored to be going after or have gotten the wrc license.

have you played the recent wrc games? i heard they suck

looks great but;

- the environment looks pretty samey. hope the full game has lots of unique areas aside from maple valley-esque woodland, prairie, mountains, redrock, city.

- its odd that its turn 10 showing off the game and talking as if its their own.

Digging deep for that negative angle huh? ;)

What made forza so great in the first place?

Thought Forza 4 was the pinnacle of the series.

forza 1 was all about the racing, no car football or bowling bullshit, just pure racing, it even had night racing and point to point. they say they add gimmicky things for more casual fans and core players shouldnt care because we dont have to play them, but they take away time and money which could have been spent on NEW FUCKING TRACKS or even remodelling the old inaccurate tracks like the nurburgring or even updated the forza 1 models for laser scanned ones..but no

i see you've looked up my post history.

AKA

couldnt be more wrong

he must have quoted the wrong person eh ;)

Any reason why they don't include the Autobahn or Stelvio pass, or that Trafakalaka road in Romania? This seems like the ideal game for that. How about a race on the autobahn at 5am when there's minor traffic?

Why not throw in a few mountain pass stages, at night...downhill...!

I'm really starting to want to buy the game local instead of importing it. Mainly so I have it day one.

Seriously this game I'll put so many hours in it.

No, it is a game developed by Playground games, but if you want to think that it is Forza 5, it is ok.
Its the Forza engine, with Forza cars, the Forza physics model, livery editors, rivals mode, car clubs, etc. Its Forza, just not circuit based Forza, which means for some of us, this is a nice answer to those who put more stake in course and condition variety than car count or motorsport realism, and are willing to trade 30fps for it.

But if they handle this right, everybody wins. They should keep Horizon going and tie it in to the Top Gear license (instead of Forza Motorsport) and put in more 'gimmicky' fun stuff like soccer, etc. This gives them the bandwidth to focus on Forza Motorsport as the ultimate race sim, and they can focus more effort into recreating that race day experience that the most hardcore of sim fans crave.

Between the two series' they should control a nice share of the entire driving game audience.

yep as ive been saying all along they need to go back to the forza 1 way of thinking

Because the game takes place in Colorado.
