Yeah, I gotta get a quick inventory done and figure out how many Gravecrawler/Messengers I need to pick up. I think I need 2 of each, but I'm just not sure.

I think I may be switching to online only soon, I'm starting to really like my LGS. They started doing lower payouts for winning at prereleases and they changed standard promos so now only top 2 get promos and the other 2 are given away "at random" which equates to two shitty players they feel sorry for. Such BS and most of my cards rotated so I'm thinking I might just sell them and do online only now.

I've played at like 20 different stores in 6 different states over the last 8 years or so, and the Top 2 plus 2 randoms has ALWAYS been the way it was done, no matter where I was. I thought that was how Wizards mandated it, actually

I've only seen it as top 4 always for the last year and a half I've been playing at the stores by me. And it's not the random that bothers me it's that apparently they told the two best players they would never be random even if they're not top 2. They seem to have no system, they just pick two people they want to give it to. I know I'll never get one that way now and usually make top 4 but not top 2 at the store. They've shown bias in other stuff and shady stuff like having around 2 boxes of boosters left after prerelease stuff and now they're "randomly" selecting stuff just isn't very comforting. I haven't switched yet but depending on how they're handed out it might push me over the edge.

Hey guys I have a question. I'm not at home so I can't remember the exact card. It's a blue creature and it has 4/4 and it can't attack unless there are 5 island cards in play. Does this mean if I use that card to block, it doesn't do any damage to the attacking creature, or is it just if I'm attacking?

It just can't attack, it would deal damage like always. Think of it as it has defender or something until that many islands are in play. And the card is harbor serpent.

Edit: harbor serpent is a 5/5, I don't know of any 4/4 with that ability.

Let your mom play zombies, I'll spank her online also kid! ;D

Edit: I feel like I should have chosen golgari instead of selesnya, it seems like it's a stronger promo you get in the guild pack. :/

See, you want to be like me. It's okay. We all want to be the greatest. I mean, probably not going to happen for you, but I guess even the little people need to dream...

LOL, coming from a zombie player. That deck takes less skill than delver.

"I don't know how to play it. It must be easy to play. Hold on while I brew up some super jank revolving around dissipate. But I'm going to play B/G zombies anyway, because I'm sick of getting owned everytime I draw 7."

Uh, I was just called a monkey decker. What does that mean?

Probably meant money decker. IE, you actually have a job and not an allowance to spend on cards.

Oh, alright. Gotcha, thanks.

Uh, but just in case - zombies are super aggressive, get everything out early, yes? Pretty much what I aim to do, which is why I figure that what you're saying could apply.

Ya, I have no idea what they meant but if they actually said monkey I can only assume it's extremely easy deck to pilot (MUCH LIKE ZOMBIE DECKS) so you're not necessarily good but the picks you made were good even though they think you don't know why you picked them. That's my gut at least but I honestly have no clue what they were trying to say.

Friends in my play group get salty if I play with expensive cards, so I started building shittier decks to beat them with (and I'm by no means all that good). It's sad really, that their refusal to spend money on cards means I have to limit my selection if I don't want to hear whining. Sorry, Wurmcoil Engine is my favorite Scars block card. I'm going to own like 5, alright?

I'm getting my boxes for $85CAN by buying a case of 6 and splitting them with my friends. Cheapest way to go if you have some folks to pitch in with.

Before or after tax, and where in Canada? Going price in Ontario seems to be roughly $100 before taxes. I pay $110 for mine, typically, and the lowest I've ever paid was ~$100 taxes in, randomly happening upon a sale. I could easily buy a case or two and make money selling boxes @$100 if you're paying $85 all in.

Why is this not a 0/3 :(

Hahahah this is the best card ever, holy powerlevel ravnica batwoman.

Damn, that's the best deal I've seen nationwide. I should inquire with some other shops about case prices. My LGS charges $110/box taxes in regardless of how many you buy.

In other news, I picked up Izzet vs Golgari today. The new artwork is fantastic, but I also love how they chose to include the pre-release promo art for Gleancrawler over the original Ravnia art. For some reason my box didn't come with the individual deck boxes, though. At least my cards weren't miscut.

I had no idea people were paying so much for boxes. I guess I might as well pick one up for myself at my LGS now, at least if there's a good buy-a-box promo.

You lucky bastard! Last cases I've seen go that cheap were NPH before Gut Shot and Norn became popular.

Also: I'm currently selling complete sets of Return to Ravnica, to be mailed out when the second shipment comes in (so I can use the first shipment for drafting.)

Let me know if any GAFfers are interested in purchasing. $215 per set shipped, including all mythics (seems like most of the ebay sellers in that price range are selling complete sets -without- mythics.)

EDIT: Yes, I'm undercutting SCG by $110. Fucking profit-mongers.

Yeah, if there's one thing I learned, it's not to play expensive decks in the Just for Fun room. People get really salty in there if you run a bunch of mythics.

Yeah, but conversely, they'll throw out stupid shit just because you won. I got accused of the same thing because of Champion of the Parish.

Salt will flow no matter what so Imma play a R/W bonfire/entreat/restoration/sword deck. Fuck your Avacyn's pilgrim, pilgrim.

Haha, I guess it depends on the shop. So places it's normal, other places they act like you're a big bully for using the cards. I just don't get it, I lost when I started because I didn't spend the money on cards, I never whined.

Man, free Minimaster was pretty bad today. I got an unplayable deck- I had a Silvercoat Lion and a Arbor Elf as my only creatures that could attack for damage (Thanks, Guardians of Akrosa, Kraken Hatchling, and Fog Bank!). Tons of other people also ended up with terrible decks- this set has so many unplayables at common.

The way I see it, its ability is basically equivalent to being chump blocked every turn and getting a +1/+1 out of it, like a vampire.

That creature is really good. He has to be removed; there's no way to safely beat that guy in combat since he'll always be bigger than anything your opponent can put out on curve.

I think he won't be as good as he looks on paper because he gives your opponents options. Both options seem like pure negatives, but given a meta that will include undying, tokens, detainment, and Zealous Conscripts, there are plenty of ways to deal with him. Then there's the fact that your opponent(s) can control his ability to block as well as attack, which could be huge for them.

Having said that: Heartless Summoning, anyone?
