Bayonetta 2 - WiiU (Director: Yusuke Hashimoto, Pub: Nintendo, Supervision:Kamiya)

Reading the first couple of pages with everyone saying "great move Nintendo" has me perplexed. This will matter even less for the Wii U than FF13 did for the 360.

Great move on them for basically reviving a game that was dead, I think.

Pretty much, yeah. The big defense is "It wouldn't exist otherwise" like that somehow invalidates any other feeling other unwavering joy. Lumping people making death threats in with people being disappointed at a 3rd party game going exclusive is the biggest fucking embarrassment I've seen on gaf, and should be consider a low point for everyone. But meh, the best way to console-war it up is to accuse everyone else of doing it.
I've been one of those "It wouldn't exist otherwise guys."

I'm not posting it to say "You can't feel what you feel."

I'm posting to say "Have some perspective people."

Man. So much salt in this thread when this should be a good thing. Bayonetta 2 is actually happening. Yes, it's only on Wii U. So? Systems have exclusive titles, always have, and always will. Would you rather just not have Bayonetta 2 exist at all? Ugh.

No, gamers have a sense of entitlement, game developers OWE THEM SHIT!

Y'know, I was gonna just chime in on how it was Bayonetta* that got me to invest in an Xbox 360, and so it was likely that Bayonetta 2 would get me to buy a WiiU. But, man, just...this thread. So, I'll simply reply in the prevailing spirit of the thread, and depart.

LOL 32 GIGS OF BUTTMAD ROFLMAO Y DIS FRED NOT LOCKED YET LOLXORZ

* ...and several shmups, some of which aren't even out in the UK yet. Yeah, Raiden Fighter Aces, I'm looking at YOU.

The general Nintendo fanbase got quite salty too, especially after that 'FF VI in 3D CGI' demo video made everyone believe FF VII would surely be a N64 exclusive.

And it is indeed a hilarious quote.
I would have thought so.

But the implication seems to be that the Nintendo fanbase were somehow more altruistic and nonchalant about FFVII "being stolen."

I imagine it's actually because it's been a long long time since something like this has happened to a Nintendo-platform exclusive and after this generation if someone only owned a Wii they'd be far more used to not getting a particular game.

I actually can't think of one right now (not published/developed by Nintendo) that could actually elicit a reaction.
Poor Sega and Platinum. They don't deserve the backlash from these so called fans.

Bamco gets it all the time for their IP userbase fragmentation don't they?

Agree with this.

I mean, I know, I get it. Seriously. Not being able to play it on a console that you already own is sad. It sucks.

But holy shit, you guys, Bayonetta 2 actually exists and we all have the ability to buy it.

Like.

Shit, you guys im so fucking happyrgbefueijk

I know, you think this is bad, I can't imagine just what will pop up when Nintendo start aggressively pushing for exclusives. Getting Bayonetta 2 shows me that Nintendo has just started. Nintendo's aggressive stance with Monster Hunter should also be another idea of what will happen in the future.

They got the money and they got a brilliant CEO to lead them, so it would not shock me to see this as the first of many exclusive games.

A stunningly accurate Youtube comment:

Hardcore Gamers: "The Wii sucked because it has no third-party games!"

Nintendo: "Okay, let's get the best third-party game ever! Bayonetta 2! What? It's not happening? Well we shall make it happen as a present to gamers everywhere!"

*Months Later

Nintendo: "Whew, even though that was hard, we were finally able to get the Bayonetta sequel! Gamers will be happy!"

*Nintendo announces

Hardcore Gamers: "WTF WHY IS THIS HAPPENING NINTENDO IS THE WORST FUCKING COMPANY"

Nintendo: ...

Be careful or you will end up on the wall of shame!

You are acting way much worse than when you were put on the wall of shame. I mean if that is your intend go ahead, but just putting a :( then defending yourself is alright, i'm sure mama is probably going to fix that, but now you are just being salty cause you were put on the wall of shame when regardless your post is nothing compared to others.

It's because we are used to surviving on Nintendo core games in such a violatile industry. It's a blessing and a curse. If something doesn't come to Wii U, no big deal. If something does, YAY. That simple

It's not all about sales, it's about giving gamers what they want, even the niche gamers who will only get Nintendo 500k copies of a game.

Makes me wonder how bad the situation is at Sega that they can't even fund this game late in the era game for the xbox 360 and ps3?

I'm happy that platinum and Nintendo are getting close. Both of them are still companies that concentrate on creating good gameplay experiences while many other game companies don't know wtf there doing anymore. I'm very happy to see this be exclusive to wii u :)

Yeah, FF VII was really the last time a huge franchise that had formerly been exclusive to Nintendo became exclusive to another console (FF VII and VIII did get PC ports though), as everyone knows what the situation for the N64, GC and Wii was like in terms of third party support.

I can see it now, Hideo Kojima presents: Metal Gear solid 5!

Wii U exclusive, Published by Nintendo.

OK, that would probably make me genuinely angry :lol

Oh, great, the victim card.

You have six months to save up. Six. Months. Maybe it's time to cut the cable, cut your monthly gaming expenses, cut any other luxury expenses if you can't spare $300 in the span of six months.

Saying you have bills is a "victim card"? You then go on to talk about "cutting luxury expenses" for another luxury? You can't be serious with this post, also if you paid as actually attention to my posts in this thread, you would see that from the beginning i said i am getting a WiiU eventually.

BUT I UNDERSTAND HOW OTHERS MAY NOT WANT TO DROP A FEW HUNDRED BUCKS ON ANOTHER CONSOLE FOR ONE GAME.

It's amazing how fucking condescending you people are to anyone who dares to be a little disappointed about this. You're just as bad as those who are overly raging about "betrayals"...

I just don't think many people really understand how poor the market is in the US right now. It's getting to the point that we're missing multiple games.

EX Troopers might be Japan only.
Bravely Default still unannounced for US.
FF Type-0 still unannounced.
Valkyria Chronicles 3 Japan only.

Sleeping Dogs is arguably better than any GTA game ever made, but it sold 100k in the US. Dragon's Dogma is better than Skyrim in lots of ways, and is a fantastic game, but it only sold 90k in the US. Bayonetta is better than DMC, but only sold 100k in the US.

I see a lot of people that just refuse to pay $60 for games, ever, or buy used when they don't really need to. Why would Capcom put out EX Troopers in the US? All the comments are just going to be about waiting for Super EX Troopers, or about fuck Capcom for DLC, or fuck Capcom for Mega Man Legends 3. Then the rest of the people who don't know anything about it will see that it's anime and ignore it.

Bayonetta 2 is only being made because Nintendo is funding it. End of story. What's going to happen, is these same people are going to kick and scream and pout, and not buy the sequel either! Platinum Games is having to look for new opportunities to even get games greenlighted. Konami is funding Metal Gear Revengeance, and Nintendo is funding Bayonetta 2.

Kamiya never even made a DMC 2. Do you realize how amazing a Bayonetta 2 could be? Just support the damn game. Platinum needs the sales!

Consumer culture in the US has really hit an all time low.

People make decisions based on the current information at hand. The decision may be not to buy a Wii U at present, (and based on the perceived notion of poor future third-party support). These decisions aren't necessarily immutable.Found it in an old thread.
That's perfectly reasonable but very few of the posters upset about this news seem to be posting "wait and see" messages. Most (not all) seem to be treating this news as if the game were announced for the afterlife and death was the only way to experience it.

I'm being facetious obviously but not by a lot. If you consider yourself a fan of games and not a fan of companies you should never rule out ever buyng a system that's getting a game you want to support.

Ah, so there are no other games for the Wii U that are exclusive. I see.

Heh. Yeah. Fair enough. I think I've made my point on that topic. My pet peeve is irrational ranting without logical reasoning behind it, so I don't like being lumped into that category, especially considering how silly some of those are.

Just because something is the way it is and you have no choice but to accept it, doesn't mean you can't feel disappointed about it.

So you're more disappointed because the game isn't coming to your hardware of choice, than you would be if it was never made?

WOW

That's all I can say to that is WOW.

A stunningly accurate Youtube comment:

Ehm, I guess it's pretty much about the money and not making the "hardcore gamerz" happy with a present or anything like that :p ...

That YouTube vid was glorious, I lost it when he started dubbing those users, wish it was longer :(

I wonder what what business idea was to have the game published on a new console that the overall selling point of said device is that it is a Nintendo platform / nostalgia factor. Bayonetta doesn't have the love affection like other Nintendo franchises. It seems the attention comes from a vocal group, does that group relate to Nintendo platforms? Maybe?

Outside of the idea of Nintendo funding this game when was the last second party title funded by Nintendo that did particularly well?

If Bayonetta didn't do well on consoles with larger install base what is the expectations on a console that right now has no install base.

Nostalgia? Eh? The system has Dragon Quest and Monster Hunter, the 2 biggest non-nintendo franchises in all of Japan, exclusive to it and it's portable brother, and the only selling point of the system is nostalgia? Get real, especially since we're talking about Japan here. 3rd parties can sell very, very well on Nintendo systems, 3DS and DS are shining examples.

Actual question about the game (*gasp* I know):
Has it been insinuated at all if this is launch window, or just an in development announcement?

I don't think anything has been hinted at, but given it was cancelled I would assume it's just gearing up development, or atleast going to be beyond launch window.

Well, RE4 became un-exclusive. I don't know how salty the Nintendo fans got, but I imagine some shakers were spilled.

I think there was a bit of salt, but nowhere near as much as FF VII going to PS1. Besides, weren't Capcpom quick to announce the PS2 port even before the GC version was out the door?

One game the individual is interested in.

Eh, I'd just be repeating the arguments that have been made ad infinitum in this thread. It wouldn't exist otherwise, there will be more reasons to buy a Wii U in the future, Platinum Games has another game coming out that is exclusive for the Wii U, there will eventually be a price drop for the console, etc. etc.

Ehm, I guess it's pretty much about the money and not making the "hardcore gamerz" happy or anything like that :p ...

That YouTube vid was glorious, wish it was longer :(

Well, of course it's about money, haha. It still makes me happy, though.
