350 for one game is actually probably not gonna happen. For a lot of people.
But that's not the only game. Good WiiU games will keep rolling, and that's gonna motivate people even more.

I bought my Wii just for Smash Bros, but I own more games on it because it has good stuff. Same thing for the PS3, which I bought for MvC3.

I do hope that Nintendo puts some heavy marketing on this game though. To be honest, I'm not interested in Wii U, and I disliked Bayonetta, but it makes me happy to see that niche action games can still thrive to an extent.
I'm just worried that without heavy marketing, and on a console with no known userbase, it might flop harder than the first one. Making the chances of another sequel even smaller. And none of us wants this.

I bought a PS3 for Metal Gear Solid 4. I ended up hating it, but the PS3 has a nice library, so it was a worthwhile purchase.
I bought an Xbox for Halo.
I bought a Sega Saturn for Panzer Dragoon.

I doubt you could make a game like Vanquish on the 3DS without abandoning the core design in favour of something different and better suited to the hardware.
I think the point is Console + Game = ~$350

Kamiya himself expressed desires to make a Star Fox game. If this partnership works out, it could very well be possible.
Thinking about it, a Vanquish game similar to Kid Icarus Uprising would be fucking incredible. Maybe that's why Sakurai was also visiting Platinum :O
