Yeah, I know it was fine since I played it, still I enquired DCharlie who said 3D is awesome and gives something to the game, that it's not something just decorative and that's much easier not to miscalculate distances, that was something that happened a lot to me playing Tri, that's why I would play both versions.
I think if you asked DCharlie what he'd prefer, online multiplayer or 3D... he wouldn't say the latter.

No online for 3DS version is such a bummer. But it does make the Wii U a more attractive device to me.

That'd be beyond the point.
I was not dismissing your point, in fact Ultimate seems to me to be way more viable than 3G in the West, and to make it clearer I think I would take the former over the latter as well, yet I wanted to point out how 3D is a nice feature that is not completly pointless and reportingly makes a nice addition to 3G, that's all.

I have tried to use Lances for God knows how many times, but they are too damn heavy.
I'll try to use Gunlance this time.
Main: Bow, Bowgun, Hammer, Great Sword
I will never use a lance. I've accepted this. No matter its strengths in certain settings, I can't get into its mechanics, get into picking at the monster with a heavy toothpick.

No HD obviously, but you can turn off the HUD in Tri. It looks so clean without the HUD/map.
Portable 3rd HD lets you do it too but obviously it'll be nicer to use on the Wii U version with the UI on the Gamepad.
The problem is, I focus on the TV screen so I would miss a lot of important UI elements in battle.
I don't think I'll ever play without the HUD.
I remember Gunlances practically broke the game in portable 3rd if you had autoguard. Anyone know if this was fixed for TriG/U?

The first time I used a lance was when I first battled a Qurupeco. I mustered all the stupid in the world that my body could carry, and chose the worst lance I possibly could. Not to mention up until that point I only relied on the quest box whetstones, which I also did that quest.
Cue the entire quest length's worth of bouncing on Peco's wings and blocking/countering air, and I finally kill it. By the end I could pretty much consistently poke its head and he couldn't touch me.
Nowadays I still feel most at home with my lance. It's so light and intuitive, the exact opposite of heavy. If only more people gave it a chance I could have 4 people poking an Alatreon to death

Got nothing against the Wii U version, but it's just sad to see some dismissal of the 3DS version based solely on the lack of online.

Lance was overhauled in Gen 3, it was always pretty good, but the update made it more versatile.
I think the only weapon that's stayed the same since Day 1 is the hammer. The rest have all been improved in some ways.

I think Lances look cool but I just couldn't get used to them. Maybe I'll try with them from the off this time round.
I'm tempted by the Dual Swords but I hear they aren't very good.
My favourite is the Great Sword, despite how slow it generally is.

Wasn't planning on getting a Wii U so soon. Can't argue with good games though. I had a blast with Tri.
I wonder if that switchaxe will be back. It was so annoying in multiplayer when used inconsiderately, haha.

Dual Swords have high elemental damage output. As such, they are best used against monsters with that weakness.
Also, if you have a stamina drug, you can stay in demon mode without the stamina drain.
They are pretty good but they take a bit of practice to get down.

Okay, now I'm super sure that the shadow draw-distance has greatly improved, in the 3DS version they disappear mere feet from you, but as you can see the monster and the other players are further and still have proper shadows.
I was the same way until I just sat down one day and started a new character, told myself I'd make it to g-rank just using lances (this was in MHFU). I actually did it and gained a newfound appreciation for them.
And then Tri came around, and I hate lances again. I dunno, just don't like the counter move and the way they feel now, even though most people say they are better. But that's okay because everything's easy to hammer into paste nowadays.

In loose terms, it is the second expansion of the third generation of Monster Hunter games. The Wii U version will have online network play between consoles, but the 3DS version will not. The Wii U and 3DS versions will be able to play together offline, and you can use transfarring to sync saves between the Wii U and 3DS versions. Exact details about the online mode are unknown at this time.

Yeah, I thought I'd go HUD-free on the 3DS version too, but I quickly switched back - the second screen was really too small to see the health and stamina gauges easily, plus you really don't have time to take your eyes off the screen all that often to look at stuff like health/items/etc. That may not be the case now with the 3DS XL, but still - I prefer having it right there onscreen like always. My bottom screen on 3DS looks like this:
Top-left: signals to call Cha-Cha/Kayamba
Bottom-left: Map
Top-right: Target cam (essential IMO)
Bottom-right: Virtual d-pad for camera control
On the Wii U I'll no longer need the d-pad so I'll probably fill the two slots I have it taking up with combinations and gestures.

I normally use LS but I've been thinking I'd like to try out that gun lance and maybe even try getting half decent at the ol hammer.

I think I'll be like John, as much as I love HUDless it's hard to imagine not having health and items on the screen. Hopefully, with the HDing and all, they'll be fairly unnoticeable... The health/stamina bar in the OP pic looks good enough to me.
Does Chrome razor still fucking suck in TriG?
Was my most used weapon in MH1, was so sad to find out what they did to it in Tri.
I hate looking at screenshots like this because they make me want to use greatswords because they look so cool but I don't like the playstyle.
Way better now. Final form Attack 1152 Poison 750 with awaken.
Awesome, still not a big fan of having to waste a skill slot for awakening though. Unless they made it easier to gem in.

By the time I was done with Tri, I had every weapon in the game. I recommend using everything, they're all fun in their own way.
Edit: I just want to know if Ceadeus farming is still unbearable.

I remember when I first played MH. I was trying out weapons and was terrible with the lance but wanted to stick with it because lances look interesting. (My weapon is a toothpick!)
I haven't played MH in a while, but I can still break Gobul's lantern and Lagi's face in my sleep so I can't see myself switching.
Oh man, I can't wait D: This is going to be glorious.

The only thing that sucks about the lance is, if the monster moves a lot, and your partners are dumb, you spend soooo much time running around. That said, the lance is 100% my weapon of choice against Deviljho. It's just too perfect.

I loved the unsheath ability in Tri and KOing a monster. I almost never saw it used and i liked to think that the others are saying wtf who did that, after double checking there was no hammer user in the room.
