Just got unbanned and all my subs are still here! Yes, yes, YES!

What does a sub do? Does it notify you when a thread gets new posts? I'm interested in starting.

You can set it up to send you e-mail notifications, but for me it mostly serves as a convenient place to look to see when topics I am interested in have had activity. It is pretty easy to set up. You can find the option to add a thread to your Subscriptions under the Thread Tools option, next to Search this Thread. You can also set up your account to automatically subscribe under "Default Thread Subscription Mode" in Edit Options in the User CP.

I only recently began using it and I don't know why I went so long without it.

Yup! If you want to keep up with every place you've posted to see who's responded so that you can board-warrior against it's great! Just set it up to subscribe whenever you post.

/random (and I remember someone saying something about it somewhere) - I too was of the mindset that Mumei was of the vaginated variety. I don't particularly know why, probably because your avatar seemed to be eclectic which conveys more feminine to me more than masculine.

I don't think I've ever subscribed to a thread. I just look in my post history when I pop on, if something's not active and doesn't show up in about the first 5 pages of each side of the forum, I assume it died quietly.

Oh cool. Seems pretty useful. Thanks :)

Autosub 4 lyf

Auto Sub is bullshit, I highly discourage it for the new comers, take it from a guy who used both Auto and non auto (manual) subscriptions, value your time a little more and reserve your posts to be of more quality. I seriously don't need to revisit every thread I posted in.

My subscription is about 30 threads, (more than I need, some of them are long dead)

But they consist most of Community, hobby, advice threads etc.

You don't need to revisit every thread, but it's still convenient to have a filtered list of threads from both gaming and community threads that you've participated in. It's like having your own custom version of the forum that's been whittled down to only topics you're interested in. I don't see what autosubbing has to do with not valuing time or lazy posting, if anything it saves time since it makes it much easier to track threads across a busy forum like this.

Trust me you'll be wasting more time revisiting every thread you posted on, even if the topic didn't get more interesting or most likely you weren't quoted on, etc.

I usually state my argument and point in a thread, if I see the thread on the fist page still and (most likely in the top 10) I may revisit it. Otherwise, I moved on to other threads, or found interest in one and stuck around... or most likely done browsing GAF for the day, hence the efficiency.

You know what else is fugging horrible? Every post ever made about GAF Gold.

Good edit, was going to give you shit about not spelling correctly. GAF Platinum is way better I agree. But only a select few will ever achieve such great status.

Also cat avatars.

I subscribe but without email, and I pretty much unsubscribe then if they are pointless topics or if I know I have nothing to say to the thread.

Wait, people browse GAF without Autosub? What madness is this?

My GAF bookmark leads to the usercp.php

That's the first thing I always check. Makes sense to keep track on threads you post in.

Try turning it off for a few days, it makes browsing a lot more enjoyable. Instead of auto subbing to every single thing you post in, you just manually sub in the threads that really count. Going through like 400 threads in my subscription list is kind of pointless, I can just keep going to next page of OT/Gaming if I wanted to do that. Whatever works though if you really like it autosubbed by all means keep it like that. Just letting you know what it's like on the other side!

I don't understand how there is hate for auto-sub...that just baffles me. I love seeing old threads that got bumped earlier in the day when I wasn't around.

I sub to threads I post a lot in, and several community threads. But no way would I ever subscribe to every thread I post in.

No it fucking doesnt. It's the worst part of being banned. It's terrible.

You're terrible~!! And and , like your new avatar just so you know.

I wonder who would win a war if it was Auto sub VS Manual sub.

Can you subscribe to threads on mobile GAF? I can't seem to find the option.

Can't find it either was looking earlier today : (

I still it's super fucked up why Laramie got banned and nothing has been done.

He gets banned for a totally not ban-able post by a now ex-mod on a fucking power trip. People get mad and the offending posts by Laramie and the said mod get deleted. And even after the mod was canned, Laramie is still banned, and I'm sure he wasn't the only victim.

Shit like that (especially post deletion) makes my blood boil.

The entertainment value of his posts were quite high and many miss them. I wish there was a place for such characters to exist on Gaf.

Nightmarecoat's posts were so painful but hilarious. I vaguely remember the thread that finalized his fate. oh my god it was so awful, but it had me dying of laughter.

I wish I could remember what it was.

As long as GAF has a waiting list, the powers that be aren't going to give a shit about individual members.

I am part of non-thread-subscribing, 50-posts-per-page GAF.

The elite.

Auto-subscribe is just about having a quick link to active threads and knowing when they've been posted in. Makes following really important (read: entertaining) shit like the Kanye thread or the Canadian gettin bullied thread easier. When the thread dies it naturally falls down on your subs list and you never see it again. The only thing you have to go out of your way to delete from your subs (if you don't care anymore) are shit like community threads or movie threads cause those never die.

But I feel you on 50 posts.. I'm there with ya. 100 post people probably put their cups on their shelves upside down.

Same, I haven't subscribed to a thread since joining or change to 100ppp.

I just use the search to see if someone has replied to one of my posts.

This just seems like such a roundabout way of doing anything.. it's like saying you open google first, then type in neogaf to come to gaf.

I think my pattern works fine given how often I'm on, but perhaps this would be great if I checked rarely and forgot threads or something.

But I put my cups upside down. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE.

I mainly post in sports threads on gaf and they're all in community. I also didn't have gaf bookmarked until a few months ago, that's exactly how I got to the site :p

What's so wrong about keeping your cups upside down? Whenever I wash the dishes I always place my cups upside down on the shelf.

Why not just subscribe to those sports threads then..?
