Gonna shift gears to DC for a moment just to say how I'm amazed that Animal Man and Swamp Thing are so consistent in making horrible decisions.

A-Man: Swamp Thing, let's jump into the Rot and fight it! Even though we have no idea how the Rot's realm works. And I'm pretty sure our powers won't inside (but I won't mention this till we're in).

Swamp Thing: Cool.

*they do it*

Arcane: Sup guys. Yeah, time works different here, so even though it feels like hours, you've been gone for a year. The Rot took over and fucked the world right up the ass. *troll face*

AM & ST: Shit!

That's not the problem. The problem is coming out of the blue with a new MacGuffin that ensures Spidey is still totally the bestest and always has the upper hand no matter what. Because that's what Slott's run is. A bunch of stuff happening because they need to. "Oh, Peter needs a job? BAM! He's got the best job ever as a super scientist and everything is awesome! He's gonna fight a baddie? BAM! He's got a new super awesome suit!". Then there's No One's Favorite Peter Parker Love Interest Carlie Cooper. Then, there's Alpha. It's all terrible, and it's all been there since day one, and it's still gonna be there for years because people are idiots.

The counter to that you're either ignoring is that all of his tech was used against him in the Ends of the Earth arc, causing great mental pressure that's been building up throughout his entire run. It's a plot point that is heading towards a payoff. Also, it's nice to see him sorta on top of the world for once albeit temporarily, the post-BND status had him starring as the Spectacular Bum for quite a while.

wthhhhhh

a) Slott didn't invent Carlie Cooper or even get them together, that was all Brand New Day
b) Carlie Cooper is Spidey's Milla, which is to say, THE BEST.

Didn't stop him from cramming her down our throats as the perfect companion for Peter and look at her she's so awesome and smart and cool and she's so fucking perfect look she's the bestest okay?

While we're on the topic of love interests, Silver Sable. She's killed off in End of Days just so we can have Spidey acting all emo and stupid because THIS IS SERIOUS YOU GUYS, SOMEONE DIED, but OH WAIT ACTUALLY NOPE EVERYTHING IS FINE.

So keep Peter unemployed or give him a shitty job? Would love to hear your solutions.

That's not the problem. He could become a tattoo artist in a pop-up shop in Glendale and I'd be fine with it. All I want is for things to make sense. To happen because of reasons that are set earlier in the narrative, and not just handwaved in one panel as Spider-Man being the most awesomest.

After Big Time Dan Slott can shit on my front porch and I will say thank you.

Let him know on his twitter. He has got to respond to that, for sure.

...but right from the get-go, him becoming a tattoo artist would not make sense. But you just said you would be fine with that.

I still say Petey should have hooked up with his ex roommate or She Hulk. And I will keep saying that with my dying breath. Actually I will say that first and use my dying breath to say Quietly sucks.

But Spidey is the most awesome. What's the problem?

Oh yes, I just finished reading Daredevil: End of days 1. This story, while it's really good so far, already makes me freaking sad as hell.

A) reductio ad absurdum. Read up on it.
B) You don't know, maybe it could make sense, maybe he's forced to consider moving to Arizona by EVENTS, and maybe it's set up that he DEVELOPS an interest for tattoos and opening pop-up shops, through GOOD STORYTELLING.

After #700 in December, yes. Something SUPER big is supposed to happen in that issue and it'll be relaunched in January.

We'll find out more at NYCC less than a week from now.
So you mean it'll still be ASM, but will start over at #1, resetting the story and such ala New52?

You're looking for Deus Ex Machina, not MacGuffin.

Spidey is awesome because he's got flaws. To make it the perfect guy who's one step ahead of everyone and who's able to do anything he wants to is missing the point of what's good about him by a country mile.

I think he's missing the point of a fun book.

I'm not a fun hater. I just like it better when things make sense. For what it's worth, Axe Cop is super fun and it makes more sense than ASM.

Scott wasn't looking to host the Phoenix for himself. That was what the Avengers did. AvX constantly depicted the P5 not in charge of their actions 100% and the force amplifying their most negative attributes. Hell, Scott was the most in control until he was pushed over the edge.

What it boils down to is that , you can't blame the Phoenix 5 for their actions. If Cap believes the Phoenix 5 desere prosecution and they so do many other superheroes.

Anyway Scott, Emma et al. are gonna get their redemption arc , or everyone will forget about it, à la Iron man.

no, he was looking to push it on a teenage girl. and thats kind of ridiculous to say they werent in charge of their actions. piotr went directly to kitty to take him back. crazy ass illyana did shit that crazy ass illyana would do. namor having a hissy fit and taking war to a country isnt some out of the question act for him either. they may not have been completely there, but they didnt do anything out of question for who they are. if jean should be held responsible for her acts as phoenix, why shouldnt they?

I like how some of you are so dense that you can't grasp that Cyclops was right, despite his actions as a host of the Phoenix. Captain America didn't want to negotiate or discuss options at all with the X-Men regarding Hope. They showed up on their island with an army of Avengers and tried to take her. Every single time the Avengers did anything for the first half of the event it just made matters worse. The whole crux of the Avengers' stance was that the Phoenix was bad news and that Hope couldn't possibly contain it but in the end, regardless of all their intervention, she wound up getting the Phoenix and proved them wrong by using it for good. This is you know, after the fact that the Phoenix 5 just solved most of the world's problems in a matter of days with no thanks at all.

except for the fact that the phoenix is a destructive force of nature that shouldnt be considered as an aide ever. should cap take some responsiblity for his role in this? damn right he should. a race of people is dying out, and as a leader, he didnt help that. but the phoenix in the end is a force of nature, and for all the good it did, it also caused harm as well. are you going to say that there were no causualties in this event? and as for hope controlling the phoenix. she didnt do that alone. she had help from one of the most powerful people on the planet. she may have put out the fire, but she would have went off if wanda wasnt there.

First and foremost, you need to relax, dude. Caps lock won't prove your "point" any more than not using it would. I believe everything has been explained as to how Spidey got to where he is. It seems your issue with the ear thing is that they didn't show you when he developed it.

I ask you, though. What would putting the panels in to show he did that add to the story? We know he makes new toys in his lab to help make crime fighting easier for him. This is not the first time he created something to help him fight Hob-Goblin. It's too much of a stretch for you to believe that he'd do it again
since scarlet spider took the original suit
?

said girl who has demonstrated her connection to the force time and again. There is also precedence for people harnessing some portion of the force with success. not to mention the the cataclysmic future Cable talked about which would be a consequence of the Avengers getting a free ride. and no it isn't ridiculous to say that when they 100% were not in control.Even Marvel editorial ('word of God", if you will) says that. But if P5 should be lynched, Cap needs to look at his own fucking roster.

Making noise cancelling tech was one of the first things he did in Big Time. This is a logical extension of that. Making them in the first place was again established properly. He has a lab, he has access to cutting edge materials, he has the know-how to cut loose with that. Villains were amping up, so it made sense for him to start matching their upgrades. None of it is pulled out of thin air and it does seem you are getting quite upset over trivial stuff.

I totally hear what you're saying but I think ASM currently has all that. It was almost ridiculous that someone of Peter's intellect (which he's had since 1968) couldn't eventually get him a dece job. But even in that job (heck even in the quoted issue) his supposed "advantage" still puts him fourteen steps BEHIND the bad guy, not ahead. That's the core of what's great about Spidey and, as much as it's not maybe the BEST the book has ever been, that still stands.

I hope you black panther fans are fond of Hickman

Hickman wrote T'Challa well in Fantastic Four, so I'm cool with that.

I'm more curious how they're gonna have Black Panther and Namor on the same team when the latter drowned the former's country. I'd imagine that won't be a fun reunion.

if not 100%, then what was the percentage? how much control should one have on a situation before one is deemed responsible for the outcome? as for the future, well it isnt written in stone. the most minute of details can change everything. as for looking at ones roster. there are only two free rides on it. one of which was pure bullshit, the other im sure isnt trusted as much as before.

Just read this, it felt oddly appropriate:

Didn't Bendis start hinting at that in a couple of pre-Siege issues? I'd enjoy that.

They went on a date in one of the Ms Marvel issues, he made her pay. Come to think of it he also made her beat up the bad guys while he ate her food. Then they got chili dogs, which I presume she paid for.

guess a second date is going to be hard to sell her on.

Figured that New Avengers would focus on the Illuminati characters after that variant cover we saw last month.

The Avengers books are going to be awesome starting this month. I hope that flip-flopping Bendis' Ultron War story with AvX doesn't end up interfering with what Remender and Hickman are planning when Ultron War starts next year.

So what, T'Challa just gonna hold that whole "flooding" thing in his chest? Just act like shit is cool so the Avengers can assemble and all that? Nah, b.

But yeah, I liked what Hickman set up for BP in FF, so I'm happy he gets to keep going with that. And the team does sound awesome.

Welp. Looks like I'm buying me some Avengers books.

Meh. Spidey can still tap that.

Damn, I'm totally pumped for these new Avengers books. I recently caught up with Hickman's run on Ultimates and it was really great. Like this huge, epic Ultimate book Loeb has been trying to write forever, except it works, it's awesome and you don't come out of it wondering if you just got a brain tumor because of the sheer amounts of stupid you were exposed to.

Sounds like a keeper to me. Seriously, I'm sure they could have some great interactions.
