some action comics news

The DC panel at NYCC were asked if the New 52 Superman died at the hands of Doomsday. After creators and editors alike ummed and ahhed, Grant Morrison led with an emphatic "Yes" and also stated that we would see much of the New 52 history of Superman in issues 15, 16 and 17. This of course would bring us up to Andy Diggle and Tony Daniel's Action Comics, which is set in the DC New 52 current continuity...

X-Factor was pretty awesome. I always love a good mental torture of Lorna story and this one delivered. I'm so glad this book isn't part of the rest of the X-Men line. I don't have to read about the AvX crap.

Uncanny Avengers I'm still not sure on. It has a lot of exposition and fleshing out of character motivations before I am onboard. But I am excited at the potential this book has.

As far as Batman goes how does The Killing Joke figure into the Nu52? Did Joker paralyze Barbara and she just got better or did it happen differently?

accroding to batgirl #1 she just went to rehab

also i dont see x-factor making it past 250 which is lame

Well, yeah... anything goes, mang. No status quo.

Which is funny, because I remember being told at the time that Ultimate Marvel was meant to be the Marvel U in a more organized, less haphazard way. Hence the tying of Spidey and Hulk to the Cap serum and all.

Oh god, forgot all about that shit.

I didn't. Nor did I forget the twenty times that Wolverine tried to kill Cyke without good reason. Much as Reg Cyke is a jerk, Ultimate Wolverine was worse.

Grant Morrison

Has he done anything that hasn't been retconned at this point? Like, Jean's death is now officially the only thing from that time that wasn't retconned afterward.

not even close.

What, you don't like traced porn?

So, the premise of this shit is that Beast goes back in time to grab the younger X-Men to talk Cyclops down? If that sanctimonious plan fails (and it obviously does), what's next? Grab Jesus and Gandhi to have a serious talk with Scott?

Considering Scott is regularly visited by a busty red-headed Jesus in skin-tight clothes and knee-high boots, I would imagine that a personal visit from the bearded Savior wouldn't have any more impact over him.

Hell, it didn't stop Peter Parker from selling his marriage to the Devil.

Ladies and gentlemen, Jason Aaron

Okay, so, like, tell me again how Doctor Doom, Magneto, or even Galactus is supposed to be a more evil guy than the Kingpin? That is some crazy retribution.

It doesn't matter cause all my ultimate friends are dead.

Ultimate Universe died for me the minute I read "Church of the Shi'ar Enlightenment" and then they completely failed to deliver me an Ultimate Dark Phoenix.

At that moment it was dead, and when I heard that Peter was gone, then the body began to smell.

Does anybody even still READ Ultimate Marvel beyond Ultimate Spider-Man?

Ultimatum killed my will to read the ultimate universe. i recommend hickmans ultimates run, the ending is a little flat. Ultimate spidey is still good. i have not read x-men yet

ultimate universe was dead to me when magneto had george bush on the lawn of the white house in his boxers

making wolverine an assassin sent to kill the x-men was a pretty cool idea though

Ultimate X-Men was dead to me when they introduced an X-Man called The Magician. Lol, he was probably the worst X-Man ever and that's a huge achievement.

Ultimate Spider-man died with Peter Parker. I'm so bored by Miles.

Ultimates died when Wolverine watched Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver having sex.

I'm not gonna lie, though, the idea of Magneto getting a hold of Thor's hammer and going crazy SOUNDS cool on paper.

yep on paper

See, okay, ON PAPER you think "HECK YEAH MAGNETO WITH THOR'S HAMMER GONNA BEAT THE CRAP OUTTA CAP 'N IRON MAN AND I DUNNO, BEAT SPIDEY AND CYKE AND JEAN AND WOLVERINE AND REED AND CRAP."

In reality you get gore porn.

In other words, what I expect is a glorious, over the top DBZ fight. What I get is Marvel Zombies.

I thought the Classic X-Men would appear in the future as accident. I mean, I'll give the story a shot, but wow @ seriously disturbing the timeline for an awful reason. If there is one entity in the world uncapable of knowing why my life is how it is right now, it would have to be my 16 year old self.

I'm trying to think this out and oh my god. Really. Talk about someone not being in a position to judge me: a guy who I am 100% sure would think like me if he had experienced what I did.

Er, why? That's exactly what a New World Leader would do if they wanted to tell the world they're the big dog. Humiliate the biggest leader.

And then he DID get recognized as a threat and was killed. So it all fit.

Of course, that was retconned, but it worked at the time.

Holy shit, Batman was intense. That was the craziest issue Snyder's written since he was on Detective. That Harley/Joker backup story was freaking me out.

That's the real reason why Jean came along.

Can anybody guilt trip you more effectively than your teenage crush and first wife who died tragically and whose specter haunts you to this day? I mean whose post-mortal self is still an integral part of your life?

Green Lantern #0: So now it's cool to
let terrorists be green lanterns????*couldn't resist*
Liked the issue , also have #13 on hand to get into.

So I went to my local comic shop today, and apparently they didn't get any copies of Uncanny Avengers this week. Is this just an isolated case, or is Marvel screwing something up here?

Confirmed: Scott Snyder is writing a Superman maxi-series in 2013, with pencils by Jim Lee.

Some quotes from Twitter:

It's the SUPERMAN story I'd write if I only ever got one chance to work on the character. Big scope, intimate moments, shake him to the core

And again, it's in continuity, but it's a big, self-standing story, same format as Court of Owls.

New villain who'll challenge Superman to his foundations, but also a cast of favs (Lana, Lex, Bruce, Perry, Jimmy...)

He added that Lois will be around, and Bruce will be making an appearance too.

It's got features and backups - I'm writing both. Really see it as my absolute Superman story. Hope you like it as much s I do! Thx again

Also, Grant Morrison has another original comic coming soon, this time from Legendary Comics.

Morrison's "Annihilator" centers around Ray Spass, a down-on-his luck screenwriter with a brain tumor who gets the chance to write a huge blockbuster film.

"He gets the opportunity to write a big tentpole movie called 'Annihilator,' which is based on a character called Max Nomax who's an ancient pulp character," Morrison said. "Max Nomax isn't actually an ancient pulp character, we made him up specifically for this. Our story is that Race Spaz has got this movie and he kind of makes a deal with the devil. Two days later, the FBI shows up at his door and says, 'A man just turned up -- in a block hole we created. Why does he want to meet you?' He looks at the picture and says, 'This is the new character in my new flick.'"

What follows is a journey very much in Morrison's wheelhouse: a road trip of self discovery with a fictional, but real, character.

More at the link, and at various other sites. It seems it was announced for a general 2013 release, and will last 6 issues. They're not ready to announce the artist because the deal isn't final.

not sure if old... new to me

Writer Dan Slott teased a few more Superior Spider-Man details during a retailer breakfast held at the start of New York Comic Con. Marvel Comics has confirmed that Slott told retailers in attendance that the Spider-Man starring in the January-debuting series is indeed a character other than Peter Parker, and that Spider-Man and Mary Jane would be getting back together — which would mean that Peter and MJ will not be.

No Peter and MJ ???

Read Talon #0 just now and it was good, though i'm not sure i'll continue buying it in single issues and trade waiting DC books is near pointless due to their release schedule. Part of the problem lies with a general indifference to Talons/Owls and not thinking much of Snyder's Court of Owls saga to begin with. Talon is basically a good spin-off to something i don't care that much about.

This makes very little sense man. If it's a good story it will exist in trade forever going forward. So why does it matter when it comes out? If it's good, you'll get around to it.

In comics we have an odd sickness (most likely related to our OCD collector mentality) that everything needs to be day one or bust. But it's really not like that. If it's good it'll be there till you're ready for it.

He's responsible for Emma and Scott, right? And Quentin Quire. And the Midwich Cuckoos. And Cat Beast.

He added some neat stuff to the X-Verse I thought. Even the Magneto was Right meme.
