Except for the fact that no one is killing the Joker ever? It's a genre staple. It's completely rational unless every hero suddenly kills every really bad guy.

Not happening and the argument is a false one IMO.

Its a genre staple that once the villain learns of all secret identity information they can exploit they're either offed in an accident the hero has no control over or mind-wiped. Can't have your cake and eat it.

We'll see where it goes, hopefully some good twists rather than just "isn't he so twisted!!!!?"

True, but no one is killing the Joker and any argument that posits it is innately flawed.

Yeah, they messing with folks' heads. :LOL

Why does Marvel seem to make me want to not like their comics any more? Is that the purpose of NOW!

NOW: fuck off.

The problem with this Joker story is that theres no rational way it doesn't end in his death at one of the family's hands.

If even Spider-Man is gonna take to killing his villains, Batman just has no further direction to go. Killed a precinct of cops, knows where you live, comes after your family? Unless it is a fake out of course and its not the Joker wearing his face but someone else.

Thats the problem with the joker the last 20 or so years. Hes killed so many people that it makes batman look like an idiot for not stopping him, esp since batmans seemingly the only person in the entre world capable of doing it

Couldn't resist.

Also that cover makes me feel safer about my bet more than anything and I'm sure this post will come back to haunt me if I'm wrong but eh.

what is your bet ?

My crazy guess is that Dan Slott "kills" Peter Parker and Spidey take up a new civilian identity .

My problem with that is that you need to extend that across the board. And then we have a completely different set of comics. But for some reason, only the Joker is held up to this light.

Does yours involve
Freaky Friday
done Marvel style? Because that's my guess too, in a twist-the-knife-and-break-the-handle-off kind of way.

Wow, I'm still blown away. If this is not the story, it should be. Wow. I mean. Damn. It even solves the mephisto issue since now his identity is public, so the deal is broken. Wow. Damn. Wow. Mind blown, dude.

This was my original theory, I also predict we won't find out who Spidey is (unmasked) until about issue 2 or 3.

I remember reading a thing a while back where Slott talks about all the work he had to do to get She-Hulk to a reasonable place after whatever the guy who came before him did and I wouldn't be surprised if he is doing the same here.

well I am hoping it is right. I can tolerate that. But a Spidey book devoid of any humour would be wrong too.

Also, Marjorie Liu is an attractive woman.

But spider-man had its (good) dark periods, he can't stay dark for too long, but he can definetly be in a situation where he can't joke around. Also, the one page we saw from Superior was basically a gag.

So Batman 13 was...eh, Joker kills people and Harley still doesn't get over him.
Hope the later issues'll be better though.
That Daredevil preview was awesome, looking forward to the next issue X3

It's not all about plot though dude. I thought it was a good setup of where Bats and Gordon are at the start for instance, giving the characters a little breathing room to set up a headspace and let them be - I think it'll play well in the trade and feel quite rewarding as shit goes bananas later.

It was also genuinely creepy at times. That one panel in the newsreader sequence with the teeth in the dark was properly freaky, the use of eyes (a Snyder/Capullo specialty it seems) and teeth in that section really gives a feel of Joker as this chaotic inhuman entity, it was cool. I think this Joker may end up being the 'new take' that so many writers try to bring to the character. Making him almostalmost an exact mirror of Batman in that he's impossibly capable and evil incarnate in comparison to Bats' good like this is quite a unique take when you think about it. I can't wait to see how Snyder strings this out.

And Capullo, man the guy is a revelation this year. How can they guy who drew Spawn for so long end up being having this awesome style? It's so cartoony and yet it totally works. It's dynamic and elegant at the same time, and his Batman is clever in that it takes a lot of cues from Bruce Timm, making the cowl and jaw so simple and expressive. This Batman feels solid and badass but also, dare I say kind and not really fatherly but more like an awesome big brother. Capullo can do some of the most coherent and well paced action sequences but he also has restraint and subtlety. I love it.

FUCK YEAH BATMAN

FUCK YEAH BATMAN

I know what you're saying about Capullo, it took an issue or two for his art to grow on me but now I can't go back to seeing batman done any other way. He's just so damn great at this, I wish we could clone him or something.

This popped up in my inbox from the idrawcomics kickstarter. Not sure if it's been posted yet.

This real?

Also Slott said he was misquoted when he was talking about how Spidey and MJ would get back together and Peter wasn't Spidey anymore. He hasn't specified though but said he used very deliberate wording, which I cannot seem to find...

Also, Snyder/Murphy horror book set at the bottom of the sea? God yes.

It's on Stegman's tumblr so i'd assume so. Spidey getting beat on then making an exit stage right.

Yea I found the rest of the pages looks like the new 6 get into it really fast...or just
Shocker

Also, someone find that exact quote...Slott refuses to clarify and he seems to be having a lot of fun watching everyone squirm...

Yeah, they messing with folks' heads. :LOL

I'm down

IN IN IN IN IN IN IN IN IN
I miss the days when heroes fought villains.

Don't worry Cyke will be a villain soon enough and Capt nut riders can have their "I told you so" moment.

"The recent free download codes initiative was aimed at helping stores, each store gets 50c per code redeemed. 200,000USD given back so far. No-one else is doing that. There will be 6 more months of this. Unclear if this meant stores would stop getting the 50C or if the free codes would stop (Interesting, what happens after those free codes do stop? Will there be a swing towards digital or away?)" -bleedingcool

If Marvel stops including digital codes in 3.99 books i'll probably drop the majority of them. Hopefully they are referring to the 50 cents back thing, especially since they also go out of their way later to bash DC for charging more for digital codes while knowing that both books with digital codes are the same price since marvel charges 3.99 to start with and dc charges 3.99 for books with the code.

I'm beginning to think showing Simon Baz with a gun was just a misdirection to get attention. Other than GL 0 no art has shown him a gun, including this bit revealed today:
GL_Cv16.jpg

It's probably strapped to his back for an element of surprise.

WARNING: ENERGY LEVELS APPROACHING ZERO.

"Oh yeah?"

*ka-klack*

RATA-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT

"F*ck you, ring."

That's not too far from what the rumor was, he was going to have a gun because he was Earthbound and didn't trust the ring because the charge runs out.

trying to take out something like parallax with a gun would be some hilarious shit.

My crazy guess is that Dan Slott "kills" Peter Parker and Spidey take up a new civilian identity .

That would mean a win for me. I'm saying it'll still be Peter, although maybe not in name. ElNarez wins if it's a new person. If I win he gets a nice Spider-Slott avatar, if I lose...well that's up to him.

My personal theory is that more stuff happens with the spider sense jammers, coupled with the emotional stress that's been building sparking some mystical web of life transformation stuff. But at the moment there's no way to tell. Slott has set up so many possible plot devices it could be anything.

Oh GOD DAMMIT.

I just had to deal with them not reviving Jean during a Phoenix event and now this? Combine it with the departure of Amy Pond and I have learned NEVER LOVE THE GINGERS. IT ONLY BRINGS YOU PAIN.

It's Parker.

Can someone please post a link to Dan Slott saying he was misquoted?

Edit: We're getting trolled
