I'm not actually sure, I just figured it wasn't white listed! I've been running W8E at work since it launched so I will check tomorrow and potentially answer my own question! Heh. Assuming the compatability is the same between Metro/"modern"/Pro IE and RT IE of course.

You can check for yourself by using Metro IE on x86 Windows 8. The same Flash whitelist is used between that and Metro IE on ARM.

Good news - I just checked, and it works great :-) So even if Amazon doesn't make their own Client, you can at least stream over the web site.

stuff like mlb.tv also works as well. the whitelist covers a lot of sites.
Does Microsoft have a Metro version of Office in the works? Will RT users get a free upgrade?
they have a metro version of onenote in the store.

I don't think you can attach a flash drive or external HDD to an Android or iOS tablet. You can't use mice or USB keyboards either.

Ah, I was thinking more along the lines of mice and keyboards only.

Does RT just recognize hard drives as additional storage that's accessible?

If it's the same as Windows 8 Metro (it should be), you can access files on it, yeah. There's a 'Computer' section in the file picker that contains all the drives attached to your PC.

yeah amazon instant video works in IE10 metro. (i just went there and played a free video, worked).

dope. there ya go.

I'm sure an app will make it all prettier...but it's always nice when things just work in the browser WITHOUT FLASH. :D
You guys rock! Skipping the online preorder to hit up a pop-up store on launch!

Hmm. Yeah I'd expect the desktop version to but I hadn't seen that about RT. interesting.

yeah windows RT has explorer on the desktop and all that jazz. so that alone makes it better than the ipad.

the screen resolution really let me down i was hoping for something much better

It's slightly denser than the iPad 2 (150 PPI vs 130 PPI), but yeah, 1920x1080 would've been fantastic. Maybe the margins are lower than I thought.

You don't even need to use the desktop:

sorry if this has been asked/answered before, but has it been confirmed whether it uses a wacom digitizer?
surface for windows rt does not come with a pen, so i'm guessing no. they haven't revealed much about surface for windows 8 pro. that comes with a pen.

W700 looks like what we can expect for the Surface Pro:

$800 for an i3 or $900 for an i5 with a dock (albeit an ugly one) and a bluetooth keyboard included? Sounds ace to me. Will probably pick one up when I'm next in the states as the UK will probably get shafted as usual. Hopefully MS can release some solid specs and a price on the pro before mid-November.

What's up with Acer lately? They've been making fairly premium products. Five years ago all of the Acer stuff was terrible. I like new Acer.

I have to wonder, though, why they made such a strange and ugly dock for that tablet. Why is it completely asymmetrical?

It slides in from the side, because it docks into the USB and power ports on the left. Why they didn't put a dedicated docking slot at the bottom is beyond me.

You know a lot of people talk about the surface not working on their laps, but most people use laptop pads when they use laptops don't they?

in the reddit ama they said the surface works fine on your lap. one of them even went so far as to say you'd be pleasantly surprised how well it works or something to that effect

I'll believe it when I see it (or at least independently verified by reviews)

this pretty much is exactly what the surface pro is going to be isn't it?

hmm i guess i'll wait and see. i don't beleive them though. if it is true, then i will probably wait for surface for windows 8 pro.

familiarity, and custom themes, etc

start menu (I know you can do a hack or something)

idk I'm hella comfortable with W7 atm been using it since it was in alpha

anything to get away from vista

Ugh...

As someone who has a tablet with similar specs to the Pro you really don't want to do this. Windows 7 sucks for touch devices. There is no good reason for you to want it over Windows 8 on a tablet.

Why is it so expensive?

Probably the build quality. I mean:

They styled the microSD slot...
