US Town Hall Debate |OT| When is the election? What are the names of the candidates?

Democrats had no problem admitting that their guy lost the last debate. I'd hope Republicans could afford us that same kind of honesty about what transpired last night.

These are the type of people that I just can not stand. Sadly I follow(ed) this chick on Twitter.

.. we can say that now right?

Posting Facebook and twitter posts doesn't really illustrate anything new. We all know people like that, I'm sure.

People are weird.

Jesus you people are fucking idiotic in your glorified defense of Obama. "Act of terror" does not mean "act of terrorism." Ted Bundy committed an act of terror; is he a Muslim extremist, which is exactly what we're referring to when we say "terrorists"? Obama connected this attack to PROTESTERS in response to a Youtube video. He NEVER SAID THIS WAS A TERRORIST ATTACK.

And I love how Muslim extremists = terrorists. I guess there are no other kinds of terrorist anymore.

the question was not about opportunities for jobs or complexity of women in the workplace.

It was "why do women get paid 18% less then men on average for same jobs and what can you do about it"

Obama signed Lilly LEadbetter law which specifically addresses that issue (even after she lost her specific case in USSC)

Romney then went on about getting home in time to make dinner.
I agree. He didn't really address the question. He talked about things he did while in office for his own personal hiring, and he never really tied it back to the question. In the end, his argument was "I'll make the economy better" and the first half of his response was irrelevant.

But that's not really what my point was. I just meant it was not some sort of "get back in the kitchen" comment.

I just really dont understand why it matters what label he used to describe the attacks. I mean, arent the events leading up to the attack more important than what label we put on the attacK?

Candy admits Romney was right on the libya moment.

I'm confused :(.

You are confused. She basically just repeated what she said during the debate.

I also don't understand this whole weird GOP obsession on this issue. The whitehouse denounced the attack and started investigating it. They didn't publicly disclose what they were finding during their investigation.

Uh . . . does the GOP want the white house to disclose secrets of national security investigations?!?! If you are honing in on a particular enemy group do you want to tell them that you are honing in on them so they can pack up & leave? WTF?

Is that what you would do Mitt? Would you telegraph your every move to the enemy? Brilliant!

Our reaction is what matters. And accountability.

He took responsibility in no unclear terms, and promised justice upon the perpetrators. He's been good for his word.

What matters is that Romney and his campaign live in a bubble world where they make up their own facts. If you are detached from reality, you will be able to lead effectively.

I have seen criticism for Obama's response even in this thread. I thought it was perfect. "The tragedy was my fault and no one else's." Good stuff. When he got back up to speak after Romney, i thought that was his best moment of the night.

yes I see your point about his reasoning for talking about it as he did but does not put equal pay in womens pocekts.

Also I live in a high density Mormon population and have spent several years working with Mormon families (some of the nicest people I've met). Women working outside the home is frowned upon. incidental, but from 20 years of living here, it's a pretty accurate assessment that women are not considered leaders in any capacity. So I was listening to his response with an eye roll already

Best part of the debate was definitely when Obama coldstared Romney and told him that nobody in his administration was using the Libya attacks for political gain. You could tell he was pissed even with the insinuation.

I find it odd that the administration labeling it as "terrorism" is such a sticking point. To me this was an unfortunate event, seems like the opposition is trying to turn it into a foriegn policy catastrophe on par with Pearl Harbor.

Obama obviously does not want a successful terrorist attack so close to the election. I think they have handled it rather poorly but the republican attack on this issue is weak at best. I dunno maybe it plays better with neocons.

Romney just said "I went out of my way to hire women and be flexible." And that was it. Nothing about government oversight or the issue.

I wish moderators would bring this kind of thing up more. You can't just say something that happened in your past and not address the point itself. But if Romney babbles on long enough he's able to make people forget/not care about the original question.

And I was disappointed Obama didn't bring up the fact that republicans voted against some bill that would make it mandatory for all companies to pay women same as men for same job/work, I forgot what it was called but it ended up not passing because of them.

absolutely, I was choked up at his sincerity

Repost from other thread...

paraphrased...

"I am the Commander in Chief, these are my people and I met the caskets. to somehow think that this event would be played by me or any of my people for politics, offends me.

bitch."

I realize that. My point is that the fact that we can't get straight answers and people are still willing to vote for obfuscation really bothers me.

I guess?

Picking a monkey who flings his shit or one that masturbates on your head is the difference.

Both are bound to the vested parties that helped them get there.

Any bonuses for the public are strictly a byproduct of paying back the favors.

There is no future outlook. Similar to corporations, they work for immediate gains that help them either get reelected or ensure their party stays in power.

Education is the key to the future and not on anyone's real host list, not even the general public. What we neglect now will catch up to us decades from now with no quick fix on hand.

You say that, while appearing yourself to neglect the fundamental differences here between the candidates' promises on energy investments, Healthcare, contraception/abortion, job creation, and yes, even education. One party is forward-thinking.

My personal fav is how Romney/Ryan is running on "no specifics but trust us to do the right thing when we get in office."

The fuck are people still looking to vote these fraudulent ass fools in for?

"we'll do the best things and make everyone happy and give money and handjobs to all of america"

I kind of agree with this yahoo article, if Obama had done this well in the first debate this election would probably be fucking over. I still think he's re-elected. But, I don't think there's any chance winning this debate or the next will have as big of an effect as Romney winning the first did. Which sucks pretty bad.

I'll still enjoy watching Fox news all day November 7th for the melt downs.
