You guys were getting Component cables before the Xbox/GC had them? Those were the first consoles I saw with those, whereas Scart was around during the SNES era(admittedly not RGB, but it was still a Scart cable).

We didn't even get a proper Scart cables most of the time. It was just Composite with a shitty Scart adapter.

PS2 was the first console I remember owning component cables for. SNES/Genesis and Playstation/N64 all used Composite/RF as far as I was aware of.

Yeah, they had composite & RF over here too, but I don't think there was an official PS2 Component cable until the PS3 came out(as it worked on both consoles), but that would explain it, you would get a better picture quality with a good component cable than you would from an RGB cable(which was far better than S-Video etc.).

Does this mean your TV's never even had the connectors, or were they just not used( like RF don't see much use anymore)?.

It's been a while, but I believe that the PS1 had an RGB Scart cable.

Man, the music of motocross maniacs brings back so many good memories. I played that game so much especially in the car during summer trips to Florida

Just watched the ILM vid, & I was wondering what Americans/Non-Europeans used instead of Scart connectors? It was pretty shocking to see them not know what one was(I can't even imagine how bad my PS2 would have looked without the official RGB cable).

RF-> Composite-> S-Video-> Component-> VGA/DVI-> HDMI

That's the path I've gone, at least.

It's weird to think that when I got my first XBox 360 I started with component. Then VGA. Now HDMI. Three connection changes on a single console generation.

The PS3 still comes with an S-video -> SCART adapter in Europe, from what I know. You know the picture's gonna be great when the cable has half its pins missing because it's being converted from another standard.

Did you notice much difference? I didn't really see much when I went between Component & VGA on my 360(but my TV was only 720p)

Yeah the 360 used to be the same( I don't know if they changed it with the Slim), it's stupid to advertise a "HD" system & not provide cabling that is capable of sending HD to the screen.

Operation quicklook everything is already great, I'm excited for more of it since I didn't really get into gaming until I was 12-13 with the dreamcast.

Then thats software not hte games fault.

Then don't design games for hardware that doesn't work consistently if you aren't prepared for negative reactions to your game because it requires fucked hardware.

I hope Ryan isn't easily offended.

Also, he finally reviewed XCOM.

Guys, I was looking through something and found this picture again:

Can we agree that is the worst facial hair ever? I like him but it annoys me every time he's on a video. It's just SO awful I can't imagine why he keeps it. He might not be a good looking fella but he's ruining his own chances with those goddamn sideburns.

It makes Jeff's moustache look good. I mean, goddamn it's bad.

That's all.

WAT, Pope burns are the best burns

Brad, this is important:

When you go on Wheel of Fortune, if you have to buy a vowel, buy an 'e'. It is the most common vowel, followed by 'a' and 'i'.

As far as the consonants go, 's', 't', 'r', 'n', 'p', 'm', 'l' are all common letters.

't' is one of the most common letters to start a word. Most words end in 's', 'e', or 'd'.

And, if you win, don't kiss Vanna White on the mouth. She's been around.

FACT: Its actually rude to clap when the other contestants spin the wheel. They should be mocked for their poor spins and homely appearances.

Make sure you wear your "China Don't Care" t-shirt or at least have the pink t as an undershirt.

If you make it to the final wheel, point at the large ethnic family, claim them as your siblings and amid the confusion jump in the prize car and yell "Now's our chance Vanna!"
Edit: if prize car is not a convertible, ignore this suggestion.

I just had to unfollow Patrick and Alex on twitter tonight. Their political debate commentary was just getting too annoying. Some of Patrick's tweets were just so stupid.

Yup, same here with Alex. :p

Mainly because I don't like my timeline clogged up with stuff like that.

On a somewhat related story I finally unfollowed Gary Whitta yesterday. It's weird because he was one of my first follow. I can live with the usual Apple fanboyism but nowadays his account is doing more PR than the Telltale account.

I totally understand why he does that and I'm sure I would do the same but still...ugh

While I won't really apologize for expressing my opinions about politics, I *do* wish twitter had a temporary unfollow option. A pure follow/unfollow model doesn't really work.

It'll hide certain @ replies. I'm surprised you can't set a 'if this person is tweeting this many times, time them out for an hour from me.' Of course, Twitter seems to love just scraping by and never actually improving.

Adding the ability to block certain hash tags is probably the smartest and simplest way to go. Actually, I have no idea why that isn't a feature already.

God a temp unfollow would be awesome. I remember having to unfollow like 20 people when Sword and Sworcery came out, and journos were tweeting about it/from it something like 10 times an hour.
