PlayStation Plus Thread: Plus What? PLUS EVERYTHING!

does anyone know if these 30 day trial codes from ign have an expiration date? I don't want to apply them to my master account until my current subscription on my sub account ends.

Metal Gear Solid 4, GTA 4, and a shitload of other PS3 games don't have copy-protected saves, and no one's ruined them for me.

Single-player titles don't compare to multiplayer. Again, it's a developer's choice whether they think that people can mess around with the code via save files or not, and whether people can get an advantage via save files or not.

Both of those games had multiplayer.

Let me rephrase: Popular multiplayer titles played by thousands of people a day. The more players there are, the higher the chances someone is going to hack the shit outta it.

And yes, the games you mentioned indeed have hacks. You just didn't notice it cause either no one bothered using it or that you didn't play the multiplayer aspect of it that often to notice it.

From the top of my head: Almost all of Call of Duty titles.

I don't play those, it's unfortunate for those who plays online.

For me copy protection has been nothing but a hassle, and it's only a minor selection of games I don't get why they would implement it in such a scale.

Either have a mandatory policy for all saves to be copy protected or none.

The problem with hacks on PS3 compared to 360 is that not only is there a reporting process, but you can have your 360 bricked, and you can have your xbox live account banned for hacking.

On PS3, if you do get noticed and banned, you can just create a new account with no consequences. I would rather have locked saved files than watching assholes ruin every multiplayer game out there.

I'm pretty sure copy-protected saves are there because of trophies. Which is still shitty reasoning. I don't give a fuck about trophies if it means shit like this happens.

Uh, because for the people that actually play those games, save hacks are a HUGE pain in the ass. I'm failing to see how on earth you could possibly dismiss that fact.

You don't get why they would implement it in such a scale? Because it's up to the developers whether they use it or not. Pretty simple.

One of the few reasons, but it essentially came to light when Call of Duty hacks started showing up (Pretty much Activision has Sony and Microsoft by the balls and can make any change they like, and they'll agree to it). You cannot achieve trophies if your save file was not from the account you save it in, and that hacking the savefile was one of the ways to do so.

It's one of the reasons why I don't play multiplayer on PS3 anymore. I love my locked save files. I rather pay for PS+ and get cloud save than paying $60 on a game and seeing it fucked by hackers.

If that's the case all games post-trophy introduction should have copy protection but most doesn't. It's weird for Sony to allow such a measure to developers, this is where they should've set a standard for all saves to begin with.

lol. Yeah, blame Sony for preventing people to mess around with save files and essentially ruin the game for everyone.

I understand why they'd want copy protected files even if it's annoying. But if you have PS+, why the 24 hours? That's where I can blame Sony. It's not as if the time will make a difference as to being able to hack it. I can't copy it to a USB either way

Sony was visionary in that case, because the first locked savegames on PS3 appeared long before trophies appeared.

Developer's choice. Blame the devs, not Sony. I really don't get it: developers demand it and Sony provides it. Stop buying games that have locked save file if that's the case.

Sony put in place the 24 hour cloud limit bullshit. They're both in the wrong.

Also, finding out if a game has locked saves isn't exactly high on my priorities beforehand. For instance, I'm not going to pass up on Hitman or GTA 5 if they have locked saves.

Which games?

IIRC: Burnout Paradise and Super Street Fighter II HD Remix are one of the many.

Alright. Sony can be wrong in placing the 24 hour cloud limit, but how often do you really backup and restore save files? Be honest.

It's unfortunate that this happened to you, and that your save file got corrupted. I do agree that the point of cloud saving is seamless transition.

why would you not want to add them before hand?!
then its banked and safe... o.O

i mentioned this on the previous page, but for some reason you can't apply 30 day plus codes to a sub-account - even though a 12 month code works perfectly fine on a sub-account. :/

So I want to wait until my current plus subscription ends next year on my sub-account, and then apply the 30 day codes to my master account.

Which games?

Genji 2, Lost Planet, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, LocoRoco Cocoreccho, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix and Tekken 5 DR Online are just a few.

Seems to me like you're trying to deflect the blame when it was mostly your fault. You had the auto-upload feature on and left your corrupted save right where it was. What did you think was going to happen?

It's a problem for me. We have two PS3's in the house and I bounce around between them. Sometimes I can't play on one but I can play on the other and vice versa. Usually I can take my save with me and there's no problem. But the stupid 24 hour thing effectively locks me down to one PS3 until I finish that game

I have multiple PS3s as well, but it's not the lack of save file that's the problem. The problem for me is that some games have a 24 hour lock on the online pass. Now that is a legit problem!

Trying to deflect the blame? Fuck off. And I didn't think of the possibility of the corrupted save getting uploaded at the time. Just because I made a mistake there doesn't mean it's "mostly" my fault.

Hey guys, I asked last night, but it didn't get a reply, lost in the storm of Wario's free months.

Anyone know if Okami has a PSN+ discount?

Right. It means it was conpletely your fault because, as you said, you made the mistake. It's Telltale that chose to lock the save though, so make sure you take it up with them.

The email they sent me says "Hurry, this code only works for a limited time." so they probably expire in a couple of days.

So I was given a 3 month PS+ sub from a friend and the first thing I did was back up all my save file. Quite releived about that. Bought some free exclusive dynamic themes including the Sega mega drive room, the one I was looking for when given a free access to PS+ after the hack, but the theme was conviently missing then. As far as discounts and games/beta goes abslutely nothing appeals to me. The idea of downloading and installing gigs of data is putting me off purchasing the titles.

Even if you don't download them, 'purchase' them. When they're on the download list you can pick them up at your convenience. That said, what's the problem with downloading and installing gigs of data? I upgraded my HD when I got Plus, but you should be able to queue up one game to download overnight and be able to pick it up again the following day rather than actually having to wait out the download.

Waste of bandwidth? I don't like downloading things I'm not gonna play. Having said that though, he only needs to purchase them and not actually download so I don't see what the problem is

Ah, I'm on unlimited Broadband, so running it overnight wasn't a problem for me. It took something like five days (with breaks for peak time!) to actually finish getting everything I was entitled to after the upgrade!

Oh I'm on unlimited as well, and have a pretty fast download speed compared to most I know (usually hit 6-7mb down off PSN). I just don't want to clutter the XMB with stuff that will never be played. I still 'buy' everything though

I'd say that's more a fault with the XMB rather than the software, though. I've had some success by categorising things as they come in to alleviate the impact, but I'm really suffering with the huge pile of install bubbles I have for Vita and PSP things.
