Birthday in just over an hour. Usually get all reflective and brooding in the days leading up to it every year. Means more to me than New Year usually does; they're my year-ends, instead of the calendars. But I think I've been emo enough in the thread lately! lol.

I'm not where I wanted to be at 28; not even close. But I've taken big strides this year to make up for mistakes and have really started picking up momentum and direction. Finally. Long way to go though.

Thanks to everyone who listened this year, helped me out with problems in here and were great random internet pals. Love ya guys

I kind of meant more in terms of standards and quality of life, instead of location or industry or occupation. ;) I'd settle for the road taking me fun, unexpected places! Often feels lately like it isn't taking me anywhere though. But that should change soon! :)
 
My 34th birthday was yesterday, and it was the first time I've celebrated the occasion since I was a teenager. This wasn't a good year (when are they ever?) but I'm really grateful for my friends right now, so the get-together was, in my mind, for them more than myself. They've helped push me to expand my social life and try some new things
like smoking pot for the first time, hah

I had a good time.

Happy belated! Looks like a great time. I feel the same way about birthdays, people always act shocked when I say I really don't care all that much.
 
Not to offend but I'm not a fan of "I do not care for my birthday" attitude, it actually makes no sense to me, specially if you do care about other peoples birthdays. No need to throw the biggest party but if you go to the trouble of getting a present or saying happy birthday to others why not do it with yourself? is like the most basic self esteem gesture.

Unless you had parents who never celebrated your birthday and the tradition makes no sense to you, which would just mean you had sucky parents. :P

Nah the tradition makes plenty of sense, and I had many great birthdays growing up, I just don't really have the time or energy to do anything for myself in recent years and I'm perfectly content having one less thing to worry about planning. Going out for dinner with a few friends is fine enough with me, when there's time for it.

I hate celebrating my own birthday. I love giving presents but hate receiving them. I love taking my friends out to a nice restaurant and buying them dinner some day near my birthday so they can celebrate. I usually take my bday off and spend it by myself.

Tbh I asked for no party and even no cake for my bday. Course my aunt goes and gets one made anyways. I dunno I haven't had a great bday in a while.
