Best of luck, Scorcho. [Sadly passed. RIP, Scorcho.]

His last status update was that of a cold fall morning.
On Facebook.
That was Oct 10.

There is so much right with your post, that I couldn't help but agree. It is quite unnerving not knowing what happened to the lad. I want to send a get-well card, I need an address!

Unfortunately I'm quite far away to join you guys, but I really hope that this could happen.

Okay GAF family. I think we need to find our brother and visit him or send flowers or something. Scorcho is one of our own.

I will ALWAYS remember how GAF was there for me when I lost my daughter. We are more than just a bunch of folks on computers.

I need a mod to help us organize this. I will go alone if I can, and but we should be there however we can.

I would love to participate in this. Best of luck to you Scorcho, you're in all of our thoughts and prayers. We're all just a bunch of anonymous people on a forum, but we're a community that has shown time and time again that we can care about one another as if we were friends "in real life". Please PM or update the thread if you can put something together. :)

He did mention Sloan and a quick Google search brings up Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. It's in NY so that might be where he is.

This is their inpatient hospital(main campus) number: 212-639-2000

You can always give them a call to inquire about his status. I love this idea, but unfortunately this is the only way I can help due to me living so far away :(

I have been sending PMs back and forth to him on a daily basis for a couple of weeks now. He usually replies late afternoon (my time), which is about 3 or 4 hours from now.

The one time I forget to send him a PM in the morning was yesterday because work was so busy. Last time we chatted (and Scorcho, I really hope you don't mind me talking about our private conversations if you read this), we briefly chatted about his medication, how he has been sleeping and me quitting smoking for good :)

I wouldn't hit full-on panic mode just yet, wait it out until tomorrow - remember it's a struggle just to get anywhere near a computer for him at the moment, and as charming as we all are, he has a metric shit-ton of non GAF related stuff to deal with, and we're unlikely to be his first, second or even fifty-sixth thought when he wakes up each day.

I think we should kinda restrain ourselves and give him some privacy.

I doubt they'll give out patient information to a random person that calls in.

Don't need to ask for a full blown status report. Maybe ask for some simple details like if he's in the hospital in the first place, and, if so, can he take visitors.

I agree. It's all with good intentions though, and I like Phoenix's idea, plus I really want to know his status, I hope he's doing ok :(

Anyways, I'm out.

RE- inquiring about his status at Sloan, as Joe mentioned, it's unlikely that they'd just give out the status of a patient to a stranger or even admit that he's there. My sister was recently admitted to Presbyterian due to a manic episode and it pissed me off how much red tape was involved just to get in contact with her. I do understand why they have those protocols in place though, but I'm not sure whether Sloan will confirm nor deny his presence given my experience. It's worth a shot though I guess

It would be illegal for them to give out patient information to strangers.

If this is it for Scorcho, I hope he can pass away in peace among his family. He suffered enough.

My thoughts go out to Scorcho and his family. If there truly is no return, I hope he will at least pass away quickly and in peace, without any prolonged suffering.

I agree that we should leave him alone. I know I would probably not be thinking of GAF updates or anything related to GAF if I was as sick as he is.

Also.. I was really disappointed to see that he had not posted today. I'm going to be checking this thread for a while...

I was thinking the same thing. I'd love to join you guys with sending flowers. Not sure about showing up though, but if he gives anyone a mailing address, I'll send some money for something nice.

We need to not harass him on his deathbed, guys.

Flowers, though, that would be a nice gesture and I would participate.

I think the best course of action is to get in contact with the family and send the flowers through them. No need for full on Detective-GAF. It sounds like one or more members are friends with him on FB, contact his GF or someone from his family. Politely ask for room information at Sloan. Send the flowers and pray for the best. It's not our territory anymore.

Would it be possible to set up some sort of fund where GAFfers could chip in on getting him some nice flowers?

Deathbed? Really dude?

I really hope the medication will help him, but.. going by his last posts.. I guess it actually is his deathbed.

Deathbed? Really dude?

If he's at the hospital that does sadly sound what it is

Dont know when I'm leaving the home. I know pretty well that when I get into the ambulance or cab (haven't decided yet) that it'll be the last time I see the place. From there I have no idea how long it'll take at Sloan. It's weird, though. For as much as I cried a torrent last week over this possibility, now that it's occurring I feel completely detached, and I'm not sure why.

Thanks for all the memories, GAF.

Calm down guys, from his last post what did you expect? I don't expect him to post so soon after.

Seeing this thread for the first time, this is awful awful news. Had seen scorcho around in the NFL thread a few times. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
