I live in Delhi, work as an energy auditor.
I have a bit of an obsession with snakes. I've been trying to study them a bit deeply but can't seem to find time or occasion.

Seriously. I wish I could just force out some piece of shit and be done with it but the perfectionist in me insists on making some effort. Urgh. Back to reading this incredibly tedious essay by Virginia Woolf.

I understand your pain.

This is a happy place people. This is "A Room of Our Own", if you will.

Fucking Woolf. To The Lighthouse was okay
Headteachers aren't teachers. They are managers. My headteacher is a former lawyer.

We only work 193 days a year! (Well, that is what we get paid for).

Yeah I'm gravitating towards teaching to be honest. Thanks for all your advice man.

College Student....Yes, at my age. Did 6 years in the USAF, got out...worked various jobs...Got laid off...decided it was as good as time as ever to go back to school and use the GI Bill.

My name is Austin, I'm 22, I live in Austin, Texas, and I'm going to school at ACC for Video Game Programming. I don't consider myself a fanboy of any console, though I usually prefer Sony consoles/games (still love Zelda though!)

'A Room of One's Own' I can admire. But in 'Modern Fiction' she constantly treads on her own toes. At least it's short.

Ah fuck. I have to read 'The Years' in a few weeks. Considering dropping out.

Hello, GAF. My name is Joel.

Turned 24 in July and at the moment I'm unemployed and living with my mom. Pretty depressing situation but I've been managing. Not a whole lot to say about myself. I've lived in California all my life, I do some graphic work, went to the Academy of Art University in San Francisco for a few years. Looking to go back to school sometime next year and hopefully move back to the bay area.

I like music, movies, art, anime and games. I usually hang out in the various anime threads here on GAF and I lurk a lot of the music threads to find some good stuff. Other than that I just post wherever interests me. lol

And what the hell, here's a pic from earlier this year:

Oh fuck Modern Fiction! Don't make me go back! Let me read Heart of Darkness again, just don't make me read Modern Fiction!

Hello! I'm Aeryne, aged 29 fine years, hopeful linguist and comic artist, and I look damn fine in a beard:

It is more about the lack of awareness about the degree. These days the only places where you see Ph.D. being preferred is in university research settings and by government agencies, mainly because of history. It really depends on what you want to do. A Psy.D. is really more geared towards practice and therapy while Ph.D. (at least in my training) was less focused on treatment and more on research. However, you matter much more than anything else. I've applied for and eventually turned down positions that stated they wanted Ph.D. only. It is more about what you bring to the table, a Psy.D. has never been a barrier for me and I feel the training I received made me a much better clinician. I still had a strict research methodology in my education and dissertation, but more qualitative vs quantitative and much more time in internships and supervised practice vs the Ph.D. program at my school. I attended CSPP later Alliant University in San Diego, CA Hope this helps and great idea for a thread!

This helps alot thank you for the info. Do PsyDs give you funding? I am looking at a few school in CA btw, namely UC Berklee

Since I'm becoming increasingly more popular on GAF with my pictures as well as GIF of me all over the place, I'll bite as well (see the picture thread for the GIF).

My name is Jhoan (pronounced Joe-on). I am 24 years old, live with my single mother (who has been both mother and father since my parents' divorce back in '94 and shaped me into the man I am today) and two older brothers in the Northern Manhattan of New York City. My mother is Super Woman in that she does everything which I often take for granted like many mothers do. I am a Studio Art/Media Studies double major looking to get into the video game industry that I am super passionate about as an aspiring concept artist/game designer. While it is very hard to achieve social mobility in this day and age, I am aiming to eventually achieve upward mobility by becoming a professional and eventually fly the nest.

I am also socially awkward in that I have social anxiety which causes me to sweat from the underarms in social situations and jabber out sentences at high speeds. However, I have been continuously been working on it by working for the student government as a senator, interacting with women, making friends and acquaintances along the way as well as taking on jobs in which I interact with people. I'm also a virgin, very honest, and all in all one of the nicest guys people will ever meet.

Through Tyler's website, I've had the pleasure of meeting him in person as well some of the funniest, most interesting and diverse group of people I'm proud to call my friends. Suffice to say, Tyler's one of the most humblest guys I've ever met and very tall in person might I add! This year alone has been absolutely fantastic meeting all these men and women who inhabit the very forum that I participate and contribute my time to. I've learned so much about my city's nightlife thanks to GAF. Oh and I'm also mostly Dominican as well as of Cuban descent.

Since I have a class, I'll post some pictures of the people that I've met on GAF much later if not tomorrow, but suffice to say, GAF has a played vital role in my social development as a man in the 4 years that I've been a member on this forum by meeting new people (along with great memories).

Hey, I'm Jake. I'm a college student in Fayetteville, North Carolina. I'm currently in school for Justice Studies and Cyber Crime (minor).

Nice to meet you all.

Hey Dominic, and everyone else in the thread.

I'm Gavin, from the south of Ireland, where I currently work. I finished my 4th year of exams as a Computer Science student on the Friday and started work on the Monday.
Life is currently quite tough, but I have a wonderful girlfriend and friends (who are far away..), so I fight on.
I'm lucky to be part of HaloGAF, where I've met a lot of people I respect and admire
and some I don't
.

I'm searching for meaning/motivation currently.. I feel like my childhood dreams of being a programmer in a big game development studio have slipped away from me.

Hey Dominic!

My name is also Dominic. I live in the valley in the 909. Greatler Los Angeles area I guess. I'm 32, married and am working towards having a child within the next year or so. I was born in this area and lived here all my life.

I majored in Business Management w/ emphasis in Humas Resourses. I work in an unrelated field for an industrial valve manufacturer.

I still love video games, but also enjoy surfing and playing basketball in my spare time as well.

Now I'm going to go back to forgetting all of your names/screen names and rememner your avatars. (I'm horrible with names IRL and always remember a face).

My name is Jim. I'm 31 and separated from my wife early this year.

I'm about to graduate after going back to school and getting a degree in Graphic design. I might be getting a job at a TV station here soon.

I lurk gaf a lot for news and post occasionally in random threads but I'm not all that sure if anyone reads them. I just like gaf because the mobile site is really well laid out and has the most up to date news and interesting people.

is any of your work online?

and is that pronounced 'erin' ?

It is indeed pronounced Erin!

I don't have comic works up online. Mostly just paintings. I've been hoping to get started on drawing a comic soon, but my writer hasn't gotten around to finishing the first part. I'M NOT NAMING ANY NAMES OR ANYTHING.

I mean, they're basically the same.

If you assume the Reindeer are just metaphors for the apostles.

Yeah I mean the beards, the giving, blood drinking...

HI my name is Guy (seriously), I am 32 and a father of 2 who lives in Utah. I enjoy spending time with my boys, drawing and playing games on my PC. I don't post much in OT and there are only a few gaming threads I actively post in but I love the GAF community. It is like a huge extended family.

The white Santa stabbed the black Santa and all the blood colored his suit red. :O

Hi.

My name is Beth and I grew up in a midwest swing state but now live in New York. I'm in my late twenties and currently employed as an editor on a reality TV show you probably don't watch (and I probably shouldn't name). I tend to frequent the Gaming side much more than OT, and since there aren't as many consistent communities over there I'm never really sure that I feel a part of any one community on GAF? I don't know.

I used to pop up a lot in the Comics thread, but most of my input there now would probably be how constantly annoyed I am with DC, so I don't bother. On Gaming side, I tend toward discussing western RPGs probably, just because there's more to be said. The variety and open-ended possibility makes for a more interesting discussion.

And I guess I let myself get drawn into debates in OT. I'm working on that; it's bad for my blood pressure.

Hi Gaf. My name is Perry. You've probably seen me around in comics/comics related threads (I like dudes in spandex more than I should) or just posting around. I'm 23 and living in Baltimore, MD. I'm in my final semester at University of Baltimore, getting a degree in Simulation and Digital Entertainment (fancy way of saying game design). It's chill, even though I've realized I don't want to do game design my whole life. When I'm not doing that, I'm serving as president for the school's Black Student Union, being an event planner for my school's game group (I spend a lot of time on campus), working at my little desk job, or trying to grind out and work on my writing and art. Every now and then, I manage to actually play a video game, which is always fun.

Here's a recent picture of me at school event:

Nice to meet y'all! :D

I'm Jamie.
<---

I'm 31, live on the east coast of Canada with my partner of a long while. We have a house and no dependants. I write software.

The OP's sentiments are why I loved the real-pic January thing. Two more months (ish)!

Hey, my name is Carlos, from Puerto Rico. I am 23, I am an entrepreneur, businessman, and thanks to have I have multiple jobs. I have $11K in student loans (haha), majored in Business Administration, specifically MIS and Finance with a minor on Entrepeneurship. I am very open about my stuff, and I am probably one of the most easy going guys you may meet in your life. I am just happy, and try to stay that way. Enjoying life as its given to me. As for fanboy stuff, I own all consoles and a very good PC.

Best pic I could get now...

Currently single, though trying to hook up with a really smart and beautiful girl. As for the future... well I want to do everything:

-Setup a Software Development and Consulting firm
- Open a bar/restaurant
- Write a book
- Design a game

And a bunch of other stuff.

Hey there. My name is Dana. I'm 40, been married 18 years, live in Denver, Colorado. Work as a marketing manager for a mountain casino. Hope someday to leave "gaming" and take all my marketing and database and graphics knowledge to gaming. I keep a portfolio web site here: http://www.danalaratta.com ...and I welcome all feedback on it.

I own all three consoles plus PC so you won't see me doing much fanboy stuff. But I do hang out on Gaming and Off Topic equally. Usually on gaming I can get involved in retro discussion, because I've been gaming my whole life, and that's a long time!

I also distrust and hate on digital distribution, even as I use it, and try to maintain a thread of physical alternatives for content previously available only digitally.

GAF is a great community. I've been a part of a few, over the years, and this is probably easily one of the smartest ones out there. RIP Scorcho :{

Please to make y'all's acquaintance!

this may come as a shock to many of you but I am not actually bob dylan. I am Corey, 23 years old and living in the great city of Chicago. I grew up here my whole life and around this time next year I hope to be out on the west coast to start a whole new chapter of life (if you live near LA ill be in need of some new friends). I am currently finishing up my last year of school as a sound designer, specifically for film and video games (hence moving out west). In my free time I play video games and write music and do fun shit. I have a lot of good friends and family and a few really close friends that I am very thankful for. I love gaf because it's not filled with complete bullshit and most of the time everyone is pretty reasonable about whatever the topic at hand is. You are all good people.

Hi my name is Delvin I'm 26 years old and I love to write! I normally stick to nintendo threads, toku and gay threads then I go to Tinygaf community. I have a ton of lifelong friends there. I'm gay and single and I'm pretty well know for liking twinky guys. I'm pretty motherly I guess..

Delvin is a cool name.

Well hello there GAF. I am in fact Rob and I do in fact like to eat.

I cruise the OT. There isn't a particular thread that I would call 'home' but I do post a decent amount in food related threads, Iron-GAF, Pizza Thread, Hamburger Joint Warz, ect..

I mainly stick to the OT and post whatever grabs my interest. I haven't clicked the gaming tab in about a year. I don't know if I feel good or bad about that.

I know first hand how difficult overcoming social anxiety can be. You have to fight tooth and nail for every inch of progress, against your own body, even. You've been making a ton of progress, though, and I'm glad we've been of help to you in your journey forward.

I'm Tom

I'm 28 from Blackburn, England. I'm married to Nicolette and have an amazing 17 month old son called Arlo. We have 2 dogs a shitzhu and a chihuahua / yorkie cross. I work as a planner for British Telecom. Pretty much a family man these days and to be honest nothing makes me happier

My name is Kamran. Born in Kansas City. Currently live in Atlanta. My parents are from Iran.

And this is the best recent picture of myself I could find. I'm currently 19 years old.

I'm enjoying this thread and thanks to the OP for making it. I do think it feels right in light of the recent events here.

My name is Dan and I'm 22. I'm currently in my final (clinical) year of Physician Assistant training and I graduate next summer and plan on working in Emergency Medicine, Trauma, or a similar field. I enjoy the usual things for GAF: video games and quality TV programs, as well as board games (I'm an elitist at this point, I admit). I also love to read as well as write, and I've written a handful of short stories over the last few months and hope to publish a novel at some point.

Here's me and my girlfriend:
