Stuff I picked up today:
- FF 23: let's start with the best of the bunch. A fantastic issue that epitomizes everything I loved about this run. I already said it in my Secret Warriors omnibus micro-review but I love how Hickman builds and moves his characters, how he carves out his own part of the Marvel universe. He points it out in the issue, and it's really obvious, but it's really all about imagination and enjoying yourself while doing it. And that's what this very special book did for 2 years: the smart dragon dude, Moloids and toilet jokes, alternate dimensions and alternate Richardses, uncle Doom, that creepy clone kid, the time travellers, Leech... It's been an amazing ride all the way, it got me all misty eyed in the end and I'd say it was all Kirby as fuck. Which is probably the biggest compliment I could make for such a book.
- Invincible 96: I liked it, the Robot/Monster Girl arc was more interesting than I thought it would be. I'm left wondering what will make shit hit the fan for issue 100
The Viltrumites or Dino dude? At this point, I could see every character dying in issue 100 and 101 being set 15 years later, with Viltrumite-Humans popping up everywhere.
- Batman Inc: I really liked it but the ending has me a bit worried
I don't want Damian to leave. Also, Jason, I had totally called that!
- Avengers: as much as I liked New Avengers last week and despite the big event, this one was a bit weak. This has more to do with me not liking Bendis on Avengers though. I've liked/loved 90% of his NA issues but I never got him on Avengers. I guess that's mostly because his writing works on street level stories, with outcast/roguish characters, because he can be great on small talk and details. But he kind of sucks at describing and resolving the bigger stuff.
- AvX Consequences: the best issue so far IMO. I really liked the Scott parts but SMH at Cap on Cyclops being in a regular prison
"Welp, can't help it, my hands are tied. He should be okay in this totally non-suspicious prison lol". Loved the Emma and Magneto bits though.
- Invincible Iron Man: it was okay but I didn't feel it brought any particular closure to Fraction's overall great run.
- Ultimate Ultimates: As I was reading it I was unable to remember why I buy that dumb shit. I like the premise of a divided Union but this book just isn't interesting. By far the weakest of the three ultimate titles IMO.
I'll say it again: Marvel, make omnibuses for FF and Fantastic Four. DO IT!
I'm telling you, it's Miguel O'Hara. And this week's issue could be hinting at that. "His future will end in a golden flash". Future, 2099, something something else.
orrrrr it's just a way to get us confused and so Dan can have his big laugh at Rich Johnson, who he hates FIERCELY

Remender tweeted spoilers by mistake but I don't use it, so I don't know how easy it is to get confused while sending a DM. Regarding tweet, fuck that.
I am gonna wait it out to see where this is heading, but as soon as MJ starts making out with someone else, I am out.

Wow I've never read Spider-Man 2099, but reading up on Miguel O'hara he seems to hit the mark with all the powers they share. This could be misdirection, but I think it's a safe bet that he will be the Superior Spider-Man.

If that accidental tweet is the real deal, and I'm not putting it past Slott to try and hoodwink folks looking for the scoop, then he's probably dead on with the "gonna go hide in a bunker" comments. Is it preferable to a body swap? Absolutely. Is it preferable to Peter? Nnnnnnnnope.

I don't think that any spidey change is permanent, but that is not to diss Slott with ah "fuck you, it will be over in an year", but, you know, guy has been doing it for 50 years, we can have an entertaining time with Peter watching other guy have a cool spidey life.
Was just looking at lists of "best dinosaurs" and forgot how much I fucking love dinosaurs. Why the fuck are zombies still so god damned popular in comics/video games/movies/tv when god damned dinosaurs exist and get NO fucking play...?
