yeah that seems like a pretty stupid rule. It was better that he knocked it back to the end zone.

Yeah, a muffed punt makes the ball eligible for possession by the offense and the defense like a fumble does...it basically penalizes a defense for not recovering the ball in the endzone.

I was at the gym, watching on a shitty tv. Are you saying it did or didn't hit with this image? I thought it looked like the tip might have bounced live, and that picture looks like it is showing either just before or just after a bounce, but shit quality so I can't really tell.
