I also have a steam copy of Dark Souls to give away. Just say what game you think has a perfect difficulty balance, and the closest to what i would choose within the next ten or so guesses wins.
(hint: i haven't played dark souls or demons souls, so it can't be that :) ).

Super Mario Galaxy 2

Portal 2. The puzzles are just tough enough to really get me to scratch my head and think about it - you know, make my head hurt a bit - but just before I start to lose hope, I figure it out. I'm not sure how they managed that, but they did. (Not sure if you were speaking directly to combat-based games, but there you have it)

I have a code for 50% off Medal of Honor Warfighter on Origin. Not sure if it is account locked or not. The first person to find a news story about something positive related to the military and/or its soldiers will get the code for it. The news story must be within the last 3 months. It can be from either local or national news. Just find me a good one. Post back here with it.

Monster Hunter!

Hi! I just noticed I have some games in my Steam inventory that I can't trade.

Draw me a picture of Morgan Freeman playing tennis with Obama and those games are yours.

I should probably point out what the games are though, LOL.

- Avadon: The Black Fortress
- Serious Sam 2
- The first Commandos game

Some good answers in here. I'd go with The Walking Dead on that one

Half-Life 2. At least I've always thought so. Ton of tense parts, ton of easy going parts and all in between. Really balanced game.

For PS3: Castlevania Lords of Shadow

For PC: Batman Arkham Asylum or Batman Arkham City

Devil May Cry

You win on the basis of being almost the only one I have actually played (SMW i have played, is wonderful, but perhaps too easy? Or maybe I was just more skilled as a kid than now. F-zero was perfect, but never played GX. Mirror's edge... I almost chose that one since I love the game so much, but the difficulty of the campaign is muddled by the guns.)

Hmn, game with the perfect difficulty balance... Well the first thing that came to my head was Resident Evil 4, and I have a reason to say that. Resident Evil 4 is not an easy game, but neither is it it a hard game. It is challenging, but never frustrating, and is continually throwing new situations at you and building on top of itself. The game has a lot of customization with its loadout, how you can can approach situations, and yet somehow manages to keep a balance between strategies and weapons to never make one strategy or weapon broken to another. In my eyes the perfection of cat and mouse design, where you have situations where you have the upper and lower hand, I say it is so balanced because of these four important elements:

-Every enemy is a threat, but you always have a fighting chance against them. The enemies are so different, with different behaviors and weaknesses, but they never are too much to handle but are never pushovers either.

-Your inventory and items are limited enough you can't always be trigger happy or rambo, but plentiful enough that you can take on what's coming your direction. The guns are all useful, having their own strengths and weaknesses, but may be the best gun for the job in one of the games different situations. How you spend gold and upgrade also can be a pretty even process of debate internally of what might be more useful not to the game itself, as they all help, but how you personally play it.

-Each situation keeps a comfortable level of difficulty. Some battles you have the upper hand, some battles you have to struggle, but it keeps this nice continued challenging-but-not-frustrating level no matter where you can fight out of any situation, but that doesn't mean it's always going to be easy.

-The game favors no particular strategy for every situation and allows players to continually adapt their strategies rather than rely on the same trick every time.

Just my take on the first thing that struck me.

Shoutouts to Teknoman! I got the Etriata Artbook today and its really fun. The environmental concept art is especially good and the enemy designs are really imaginative. Thanks for this.
