But remember guys Spike promised us that Marvel knew what they were doing.
Marvel does know what they're doing.
Maximizing profits and extracting money from a shrinking (
in terms of actual comic sales) fanbase.
Avengers, like Thor, is not any better upon a second viewing. :\
Excess defines it. Not the good sort of excess that is a sack of sliders from White Castle. The bad sort of excess, like those morons that put too much frosting on cupcakes.
It also puts a fine point on one of the worst aspects of contemporary fiction, audiences love of the noble
sacrifice. Have your cake and eat it too! Lap up this false drama because your heroes won't be harmed in any way, shape, or form. We can't even capitalize on potential drama by delayed satisfaction until the inevitable sequel.
Really, who - over the age of 7 - falls for this?
I'm so glad Predator was not made in this era. It would be so shitty now.
I'll pop Cap in tomorrow and hope I wasn't drunk when I saw it and enjoyed the dickens out of it in the theater.
Although I may cleanse my palate tonight with a viewing of Speed Racer for the Nth time. Which is far superior film making and has so much more heart and integrity than Avengers.
