Well, the 3-5-2 did give control of the game to Liverpool, but at the cost of what little attacking threat they would normally possess. Since Chelsea have got the goal anyway I think it's only a matter of time until they go back to a 4-3-3 with Assaidi or Suso. Question for Rodgers is who to partner Agger at the back, both Wisdom and Carra have had some suspect moments in that first half.

Excellent job lads, well deserved 3 points based on the 2nd half performance alone. We could have been in trouble a few times if it weren't for Jaskeleinen and some smart defending from Reid & Tomkins, but in general Newcastle seem so toothless going forward - for the amount of times they got up the flank to send a cross into the box, you really would have expected them to score. Carroll was unlucky not to score himself, but the Toon keeper made a great last ditch save to keep them in it.

Our entire midfield is wank. How can a midfield with Gerrerd, Allen and Sahin have absolutely no creativity whatsoever? It's not just a one off either, been like this for a couple of games now.
The only opportunities we've had have come from Enrique and Johnson, who are thankfully both looking like the fullback pairing we had at the beginning of last season.
Centre back setup is wrong, there is no reason to drop Coates, even if he did make a mistake in Russia.

I'd prefer Assaidi on the wing (either, both Stirling and Assaidi are comfortable on both sides) and Suso in the middle for someone.
