Halo 4 Story Spoilers and Speculations

The game constantly drops hints that Cortana can be remade or something.

"It won't be me."

I would actually be really interested in seeing a "new" Cortana that Chief has to readjust to, or something. One without a sense of humor, or at least without the same rapport the original Cortana had with him.

im guessing the spartan IVs are even weaker than the IIIs? i think someone in this thread mentioned the guy interrogating halsey was the guy in charge of the IV program and was trying to find out why his spartans are shit compared to the chief.

the CG cinematics show like...thousands of spartans being trained in the infinity. kinda ruins the epicness of being a spartan if theres just so many of them but i guess the IIs will always have that special status.'

Yeah, one that knows there was another Cortana before her and has to deal with that somehow. I'd be interested in that.

It's speculated that she will appear in an upcoming Spartan Ops. It mentions her in the episode.
Okay, so I knew this, but I only just realized that this could mean that we're going to get the good ol' Glass Lands treatment of Halsey coming from those idiotic, awful CGI bros. The cast is already insufferable, but if they drop even a single "Mengele"... uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Does Chief every react to the Spartan 4's? That bothered me a bit. Although it was neat at the end when you see that the 4's are only half his size.

Palmer seems neat. Dat Jennifer Hale.

I wonder if Bungie would have shown his face.

Halo 4 takes SO many bold steps for the series from this to killing Cortana and all. I always thought the face would be a mystery forever. We might just see the whole face in Halo 5.

i hope the eyes are as close as we get to seeing his face. id like that to be a mystery forever since his helmet is iconic as it is. hes probably going to look like a generic FPS bald space marine loser and id rather not see that

For some reason while playing this game i kept thinking how cool it would be if a Spartan went rogue. And by that i mean a Spartan with the capabilities of chief. Give him a similair black or white suit and make him the villain. A Spartan gone mad because of what they've done to him.

I was thinking about this same thing just a couple of days ago. I wouldn't use him in a main Halo game though. Might be something they could do in the Kilo Five books if anything.

Isn't he described in the books as a sickly pale redhead?

That would be terrible. The Spartans II's at least from the books took so much pride in their duties and had so much comraderie with each other that it would seem so implausible for one to go rogue.

Implausible is the reason it would be interesting to explore.

Paragosky is female so don`t think so

I liked the story, but I feel it was a little lacking and rushed at times. Still, not nearly as incomprehensible as past Halo games.. I just wish it had a bit more to it.

I need to catch up on this thread, so I don't know what others have guessed, but something tells me things aren't as final with certain characters as its implied.

I don't think Parangosky has directly overseen any Spartan projects, but I don't think Halsey's interviewer (I'm not quite sure it's an interrogation) is ONI at all, anyway. ONI only controls the military, so even Parangosky has a set of limitations and a superior. This guy is from higher up in the government.

Anyone mind sharing their reading experiences with the books? Would you read them all over again given the chance? Been meaning to get my feet wet, might as well start now if they are worth the ride.

Anywho, I wonder how else the librarian changed chief. I doubt she only made him immune to the composer. Imagine chief ends up getting powers like the didact.

I've read Fall of Reach a few times now and enjoyed it, and it's very worthwhile in terms of getting *the* Spartan program origin story. I read Ghosts of Onyx a long time ago but remember liking it; I really need to go back to it, especially now that I've started the Kilo-5 series which back-references it. I'm really enjoying Kilo-5 (just started Thursday War) though, although I know some here don't like it. I think it has a good core of characters and the time period and settings it explores (basically post-Halo 3 to Halo 4) is a great setup. Also, imo Kilo-5 books are by far the "funnest" to read, partly because the characters are so diverse and actually have some depth.

Contact Harvest is okay, just some fun backstory but nothing major as far as I remember; the Flood was terrible and don't think I bothered with First Strike though I've heard it's decent.

Can't wait to dig into the Forerunner trilogy when I get some time.

tl;dr Fall of Reach, then Ghosts of Onyx-->Kilo-5 Series were all fun reads and definitely good universe builders imo.

Call me crazy, but I have a feeling that all of these so called Spartan IV's are going to inevitably have a confrontation with Chief, and that he has to be taken out for going "rampant".

He hadn't been out of that suit since the beginning of Halo 2.
Wow, holy shit...I never even really thought of that. That's...actually true, isn't it?

That would be...interesting, especially after having you play as IV's.
Imagine a SpOps mission where you're tasked with taking out the chief, :lol.

They can't! They made Cortana incredibly compelling. She has to come back. The story between Chief and Cortana was incredible and awesome as the game wore on.

I'm pissed about what happened to her in the end and now I have to play Halo 5 in hopes she comes back.

Halo 2-4 is pretty compact in terms of time. Like, weeks I believe (for the Chief at least)

Wow, this game is a mess. There's no map control, and you have NO IDEA what the enemy could possibly be in possession of. Makes getting into vehicles death traps.

GAH, wrong thread.

That's exactly why they shouldn't bring her back, though. They can't backpedal.

I like how there was basically no reaction from Cortana/Chief to the fact that he was no longer 'The Last Spartan.'
I don't think it makes a difference. They're not Spartan IIs and clearly not as up to snuff as the Chief is, for all he cares they're advanced soldiers in armor, Spartan in name only. Like he'd assume the maniacal UNSC would have stopped at the Spartan II program after the success they've achieved either, and they hadn't done anything in the 4 years he was gone. There's no time for those kinds of inquiries with all the other stuff stressing Chief at the time either.

I hope they reclone a new AI from Halsey's brain and make a new cortana. Its just not a real halo campaign without her talking you through the game.
