So, it seems like checkpoints are optional. You can activate them or not, it's up to you.
Yep. I definitely think people are over reacting just a bit. Plus so far it seems there are linear missions and then more "playground style" missions. The second mission has like 12 different ways you can kill the bastard.
Is there a competent playthrough as well?
In the one linked the player kills every single guard he comes across. That's not how you play Hitman.
I don't expect those to come out until a few weeks. The dude is just following the tutorial anyway.

The tutorial told him to sneak past the first guard. Instead he killed him :/
He just entered the garden area. The game told him to use instinct to trick the guards, although he was in disguise. Wtf? I thought instinct would be optional?
m( the game told him "kill them or sneak past them, the choice is yours". What does he do? Kill kill kill m(
OMG the point system
He kills 2 guards, -1755 points. Fine. He is a bad player.
But then: he takes a keycard, +6500points. Which makes it +4745 points. He even gets 130points for hiding a body.
Instict is optional but surely a tutorial would explain it.
Did you get a review copy man?Would be cool if you cover it.
That's the thing.
He was required to do so to blend in (hand over face). I thought that was another button, but it seems it's instinct as well. I really have to wonder how this is supposed to work on higher difficulties, where instinct is supposed to be completely off. It seems that instinct is several things and the hand-over-face stuff has to be included on higher difficulties as well. If that's the case, the wall-hack and the path-hack seem to be optional in any case via options menu.
Which means theoretically people could still play on normal without wall-hack and path-hack.
Blend costs Instinct. The blend is not instinct.

I will be covering the game![]()
The blend is not instinct.

Depends on what regard, but sounds great. SA is my favorite in the series.Appears that impressions on the final version are starting to pour in
couple people @ Hitmanforum say Absolution is more Silent Assassin than Blood Money which is very encouraging

I wouldn't believe anything that comes from the hitman forums (or any official game forum really). They think I'm working some kind of jedi mind trick on gaf and turning everyone against the game.
That's the beauty of Hitman though, if you want to play it like that then you can. It'd be more telling if he shot the guard in the tutorial and then it restarted and forced him to sneak past tbh.
hitman forum poster said:I am a long time fan and have eagerly been waiting 6 years for this game now and, safe to say, I am NOT in the slightest let down or disappointed. OK so the disguise system is a LOT more difficult than blood money and contracts but not as bad as SA, it's a lot more realistic to say the least. I feel that the linearity of Absolution gives the Hitman franchise a well needed boost. It helps the player engage with the plot a lot more than previously in Hitman and I am really connecting with the story, which is great so far! It is a very welcome change. The saving system makes for a very frustrating experience after having to reload a previous checkpoint after being caught as opposed to loading your last save when you knew you would either get caught or not. Big shame.

Linearity in Hitman is now a good thing it seems. lol
"bu bu bu it's even more hardcore than blood money!"
The denial on the hitman forums is almost palpable.

Oh come on these jokers wouldn't even admit that the Hitman movie was hot, steaming garbage either though.

As is the way people are forcing themselves to hate the game over here.
I actually like the movie. It's dumb and ridiculous, but Olyphant's awesome, T-Bag's great, and Kurylenko's smoking hot. I always watch it when it comes on TV, haha.
We all know that you have these powers, Derrick.

Blood Money was a walk in the park, which is why it appealed to so many people.
Wrong. The creativity in how you could tackle the hit is why it appealed to so many people.
This freedom was already in SA and Contracts. BM introduced accidents, though.
PSM3 (a UK based Playstation magazine) has given the game a 9.0. Scans are on the Hitman Forum for anybody interested.
Their verdict is:
Feels like a 'proper' Hitman, mixed with new ideas of varying quality. Crucially, it's great fun, and you'll want to play Absolution through more than once.
They also seemed to prefer the Story mode over Contracts.
Silent Assassin had plenty of linear levels

SA is a decade old and the worst of the Hitman games IMO.

To be fair, most hits in SA felt limited to a number of ways. You didn't have the liberty of BM.
Contracts was closer, but the first missions felt especially limited.
It's also wrong to limit BM's innovations to the accidents. Bombs were a GREAT addition, and 47 was way more flexible.
