Haha, that Phoenix picture looks just like every other lady he has ever drawn in a comic book.

This is the one time Land gets a pass because damn does Jean look good right there...

...I will take Ramos any day over Land. Ramos' characters basically look like manga characters in a comic, which is a style that may not be suited for everything but when it works, it's amazingly good (Impulse was soooo good when it was drawn by him).

Land... Dude if I wanted porn stars in my comics - I'll go and watch porn.

disagree on Ramos. His body contortions are more eye gougingly bad. Dude should just leave Spidey alone.

It's better if you didn't know Tabitha Smith during the early 90s. I give her props for being the first superhero with dental headgear. A healthy smile is important.

That's Greg Capullo's art! I loved that phase of X-Force when I was younger! Lol!

Just grabbed this comic as a late Halloween gift to myself. I had never heard about it, bought it just for the cover.

I liked the story, but it's too early to tell where it's going, the art is freaking great! Never heard of Juan Ferreyra but he's a great artist. I'm buying the rest of the series based on his art alone, regardless if I end up liking the story.

Some brah said it is machinistic and post modern that fits perfectly with Iron Man. I shit you not.

...wut? No no no... Please God let said person just be drunk/high when they said that...

Brah... that's just... I want to cry now...

Strangely, I think when it's Spidey, some of the contortions work for me. But I don't regularly follow Spidey so I guess I don't really see what's wrong with it.

That's just Agent Torpor/Pixie Solanas, don't mind him. I knew it was his post without even lookin'

dude thinks he's a fashion expert and the Fraction/Land run on Uncanny X-men was great

Justice League #13: I feel misled when Johns and DC were hyping Supes/Wonder Woman's relationship having HUGE IMPACTS AROUND THE EVERYWHERE. Decent issue that feels random in a sense of " hey, this is wonder woman's thing and let's roll with it." Some decent exchanges between Flash and Cyborg, apart from that there's not much to talk about.

JL is so boring -_-

Cyborg may as well not be in the book with the amount of "development" they give his character.

I don't want to defend Justice League because I think it's definitely under par for what I expect from Johns but for some reason even when JL isn't exciting, there's still something inherently fun about all those guys in the same book, especially in a lighter toned book where most of the JL's solo books are super srs bzns. Even thought the plot hasn't been great I think Johns is still doing a good job with the characters' chemistry and banter. Also dat Shazam backup has almost been worth the price of admission alone, so I don't consider the book a wash at all. It could just really use with a little more sense of purpose. I get that Johns does a lot of damn work at DC between running the Lanterns and Aquaman, but you would think with a flagship book like JL he would bring his A+ material and so far we've been getting like C- at best.

My 2 cents on the whole Greg Land debacle.

I don't like his style, and I think he is the weak link on Gillen's Iron Man. Surprisingly I didn't mind his art on his Ultimate Fantastic Four run, up until the Namor arc it was acceptable, then it got bad again.

I would like to see what he can pull if he's really trying. Monthly books are too demanding for him I guess.

He could definitely be doing better, I mean a lot of the time I'm just asking myself what in the name of shit is going on. The last page of last month just put that feeling into a single image for me: cheetah-superman.

Haha that was like the highlight of the entire run for me. Though I looooooove dumb shit in my comics. The dumber the better.

Crazy day on Wednesday. A few interesting #1s and of course the 2 best Marvel series, W&XM and Gambit. Gonna be picking up these:

All-New X-Men #1
Fantastic Four #1
Gambit #5
Wolverine and the X-Men #20
X-Men Legacy #1
X-Treme X-Men #6

Just learned through the Image facebook that the Invincible 100 variants will be able to be ordered individually. Decisions decisions.

He can actually draw instead of tracing but around the time he went to Crossgen I guess it became easier to meet deadlines by tracing anything he could get his hands on. I enjoyed his work on Birds of Prey and Nightwing.

Batman 14
Demon Knights 14
Frankentein 14
Green Lantern Corps 14
Saga 7
All New X-Men 1
Amazing Spider Man 697
Gambit 5
Ultimates 18
Venom 27
Wolverine and the X-Men 20
X-Men Legacy 1

I really wanna get Fantastic Four 1 but I think I'm gonna keep avoiding FF books until I get to Hickman's run cause I've managed to stay relatively in the dark about what happens during it and I don't know if the new run is gonna be spoilery. Also I miiiiiight give Jason Aaron's restart on Thor a shot but I couldn't care less about Thor.

My wednesday:

Massive 6
Batman 13
Punk Rock Jesus 5
Point of Impact 2
Saga 7
Think Tank 4
Thief of Thieves 10
Walking Dead 104
Where is Jake Ellis 1
All-New X-Men 1
ASM 697
Thor 1
FF 1
Archer and Armstrong 4

Finally, after 100 issues they'll get someone with mad skills to draw this chump ass character - Arthur Adams!

It's the only choice.

whatever dude my dad could beat up your dad

How about we discuss it?

What do you like about Saga?

I didn't find any of the characters particularly interesting. For a sci-fi comic with big ideas, none of the worlds (what little we've seen) were very interesting to me.

Art doesn't float my boat either. Staples is talented, but her brand of illustration isn't what I look for in a comic.

I read through six issues before cutting ties.

So elaborate on what you enjoy about it and why I'm a madman for finding it such a bore.

I enjoy it all. The art does a lot for me but I have definitely not been reading comics nearly as long as your grandpa ass so I suppose that make me less critical.

The art has this kind of rough, liney, almost sloppiness about it. I like that kind of art, the super detailed, cool stuff that almost looks like it happened by accident while doodling.

The story, while it has an admittedly a slow ramp up, always feels like it has a purpose. It reminds me of a book like King City where we're thrown into this crazy world, unknown terminology is being used constantly, but there isn't confusion because the visual cues work well with the words on the page. I find the world interesting, character designs are nuts, and the characters haven't even begun to get fleshed out yet. Some good surprises too,
human child prostitute. That was particularly shocking because you see all of these wild sex scenes but the most taboo thing of all is still being a fucking pedo shithead.

Saga is dope and I'm down for it even if it continues to move slowly.

Interesting observation. I don't see it though, Fiona Staples art reminds me a bit of Phil Noto or the Chang guy that was doing Wonder Woman, but it has that sterile digital art look to it. I would prefer more actual rendering, or line art, going on in the pages instead of color abstraction; especially when you're building a fantastical world as was advertised before the book released. Draw that fantastic space port. Draw that fantastic far off nebula. Too many talking heads. Oh, and some dicks. :P

You're right, I think being an old fart and growing up with the Heavy Metal / Epic Illustrated era of mad ass illustrators drawing the tits off of their fantastic universes just spoiled me.

Planetoid and Prophet scratch that itch much better for me.

The most interesting characters for me were the the lying cat and the spider lady. Mainly because the Spider chick was the most outlandish.

Oh and the ghost kid.

Who knows, it could read better in trade.

I just wish Staples would do her fair share of showing, while Vaughn is busy doing his telling act.

This looks like a nice light week. . .

Billy The Kid's Old Timey Oddities And The Orm Of Loch Ness #2
Saucer Country #9
Borderlands Origins #1 <= Hope I don't end up regretting this. . .
Atomic Robo The Flying She-Devils Of The Pacific #4
Bloodshot #5

AH SHIT! BADTZ-MARYU?! :O
