PS+ for PS Vita comes next week with FW 2.00, games revealed (WOW)

also, damn, this stuff is only available through the vita store right? guess i need to buy one soon...

People on twitter - and I believe they're correct - are saying you should be able to redeem on the PS3 store, since you can buy Vita games on the PS3 store.

In which case it'll be a monthly temptation for any PS3 PS+ users who don't have a Vita...their growing catalog of Vita games.

Wow...this is amazing. All six games are top quality and worth every cent of their retail price. Fucking unbelievable, really o.0

I'm more excited about 2.0 than I am the free games for PSPlus.

- Email Support
- Auto Trophy Sync
- Auto Updates
- Wireless PC Connection

Now if they would just let me organize my bubbles into folders...

They updated HTML5 and JavaScript engine of the browser too. Firmware 2.0 is definitely something to get excited about.

Gah, hopefully the browser upgrade includes video playback. I can't watch the firmware video because the it's unlisted so I can't watch it on my Vita, and I'm too lazy to get up and watch it on my PC, haha. Otherwise, great looking lineup. I traded in Uncharted awhile back, so it'll be fun to go back and try to Platinum it. Looking forward to Gravity Rush as well. Almost pulled the trigger on that yesterday because I can get it for $10, but free is better!

Yeah, for once the US has the better selection this time round. That said, Gravity Rush, Uncharted and Mutant Blob Attacks are still more than enough to make the price tag worthwhile, especially if you own a PS3.

Myself, I'll probably jump on board once I upgrade my memory card. I've already filled my 8Gb card with my retail purchases, I'm going to need more for the future Plus goodies.

Yep. Sony must be quite desperate if they're practically giving away so many good games.

Plus has been around for years and has given away tons of great games. It makes sense to get the launch Vita games on PS+, especially if they're trying to have a successful Vita holiday.

there is? i can't believe i've never seen it, haha.

That's... actually impressive!

Too bad I already have the games (apart from Chronovolt), but I can't really complain since I got a free month of Plus.

Good stuff.

Yes. The idea is that in the period of your sub you'll have accumulated so much content that you don't want to let go of your sub.

This severely decreases my interest in PS+, and is exactly why I never got a sub. It makes sense, but I just like owning my games.

Selection of games is fantastic.

Also:

- Email app
- Web browser update (probably the beta one, which will become the 2nd highest HTML5 compliant browser on a dedicated gaming platform after the WiiU)
- Extra 1 GB of cloud storage
- Automatic updates
- Automatic? Trophy syncs
- Content manager improved. Able to transfer content wirelessly from/to PC
- Able to play back 1080p videos on vita
- Video supports CC now. About damn time, why doesn't the PS3 videos support CC? Lol

Good update. But still no folders, even though I see folders here, but I don't know what that means.

How the hell do they profit from this? I don't get this

Basically, these games have likely sold 80-90% of all the units they were going to sell during their launch windows. They can make some bonus money through Plus subscriptions and get people buying Vitas & memory cards this way.

Sony does really need to start advertising this on TV. 30 second spots during NBA/NFL games saying "for $50 a year you can have all this!" while showing clips from every game they've released through Plus in 2012.

Also making these available only through the Playstation store is genius. Anyone who has Plus but is on the fence for a Vita will feel like they're missing out on something and run out and buy one. Uncharted and Gravity Rush alone are worth buying a Vita for, but when you give away JSR, Wipeout, Mutant Blobs, and Final Fantasy Tactics with it? That's just craziness.

I know, just so many TOP-TIER games day-one strikes me as kind of desperate. I mean, these are arguably the best of the best when it comes to the Vita right now.

I just wonder how this will translate into sales. Vita is dying fast all across the world, so maybe it's too late for this jumpstart? Or maybe this will start a turnaround? It's interesting to think about.

I love how the common opinion seems to be that Live is somehow better than PSN. The regular PSN has all the functionality of silver and then some and PS+ is just everything a gamer could wish for.

WOWZERS! This is simply amazing, and I nice way for a new user to bulk up their collection. I own most of those games in physical form but I'm considering trading them in since I'll now own them digitally.

Great deal, but...those are like all the good games for the system. There is no way they can keep this pace up.

But still, even if the service completely sucks after this month, what a deal.

From reading features on the browser beta, it doesn't sound there's video playback yet :\

I hope they are able to show the value of this through ads and other media. If the mass market isn't aware of this then there's really not point.

Can somebody help me out here. PS+ On a sub account, I've gotten a lot of free one month trial codes but always gave them away because I couldn't activate them on my sub account. If I buy a year subscription to playstation plus at a store or from like amazon, then will I be able to effectively activate it on my sub account? I just don't want to buy something I can't use.
Because I know PS+ on sub accounts is possible (I'm pretty sure) just want to make sure I use the right method
Thanks!

This severely decreases my interest in PS+, and is exactly why I never got a sub. It makes sense, but I just like owning my games.

It turns out I was (partially) wrong... apparently games stay on your download list even if your sub lapses. You'll just need an active sub to download them. So your collection doesn't reset, as such, each time your sub lapses...it's 'just' suspended.

A lot of people have answered you already, but I'm adding some key points.

1. As long as you tag the item for download, its yours, you don't have to download it immediately (you can download it a year later if you wanted).

2. If you let your PS+ subscription lapse, you can't access the games anymore (they'll refuse to work). HOWEVER, if you decide to start up your PS+ subscription again at a later time, the games will start functioning again. I definitely know about this, because I stopped my PS+ sub for about 6 months before turning it back on.

Thanks to everyone for the answers. So let me summarize this in a "flowchart":

1.) There are the states "has game X" and the state "has active PS+ subscription" for the user, and the state "X is currently on the PS+ instant game collection list" for the game.

2.) If you become a new member, you can have all the "X is currently on the PS+ instant game collection list" titles by tagging them for download.

3.) Tagging game X for download changes the state of the user to "has game X" .

4a.) As long as the user has the status "active PS+ subscription" they can keep playing all the games with for which "has game X" is true.

4b.) As soon as the subscription runs out, the state "has game X" is still true, but you can't play games because (("has game X" & "has active PS+ subscription") = true) is required.

4c.) If a game should get dropped from the game collection from Sony's side ("X is currently on the PS+ instant game collection list" becomes false), you can still play the games because only (("has game X" & "has active PS+ subscription") = true) is relevant.

Right?

Cool. Games that 99% of Vita owners have already. Sweet deal brah.

Yeah, free games really suck.

Considering the Vita user base is ~3 million people and they want to sell the console to new people, I can't believe you're trying to poke holes in this.

wow, now i want to join PS+
But do I have to have the Vita connected online to play those games?

Nope. I've been playing PS+ minis for months now on my Vita when I'm away from a connection.

Holy GOODNESS. I'm happy to be able to replay some Uncharted and having Jet Set on the go will be so lovely. Good job Sony! PS+ has really been pretty awesome in the last year or so (although SCEE has been better than SCEA recently)!

Excited!
