Nintendo Downloads - November 2012

I hope we get a VLR demo in the us eshop, at least it will ease my wait ( the game is nowhere to be found in Brasil... Maybe at the end of the month)

For some reason I thought the Americas already had the demo, but I checked and it's Vita only.

It will be funny to see VLR demo in the Spanish eShop considering it won't come out here. I'd rather have the Epic Mickey one...

Giving North Americans some time to play Paper Mario: Sticker Star. It's totally sucked me in and I probably wouldn't buy Crashmo this week even if I could.

I'll probably buy Crashmo in December when Paper Mario is beat, and the Wii U's freshness has worn off. Right now is a crazy time to release anything that is going to be passed over for Wii U.

Do we know if there will be Gamecube virtual console games up day one for Wii U? I feel like the first Metroid Prime would be a great thing to have on there.

We know next to nothing about the Wii U's Virtual Console at this point. If you want to buy games already on Wii's Virtual Console, you'll have to navigate to Wii Mode and go to the Wii Shop Channel and buy (and access) from there.

There hasn't even been a real announcement that there will even be a GameCube Virtual Console. Just some Nintendo demo kiosk jockey saying random words.

Is Virtual Console even going to be a thing for Wii U's eShop?

Probably not at launch (would be another great surprise) given that the current VC games are written for Wii specific files and would have to be played in Wii mode. I'd love for some solution for me not to have to rebuy those games when / if they come to Wii U.. but I have my doubts, with how Nintendo handles the licenses at all.

Pac-Man NES for JP VC next week.

Sonic Drift 2's release seemingly has wireless local multiplayer implemented as well. Nintendo really needs to step up their shit and implement some kind of multiplayer solution for their GB games.

Nicalis must do really well for themselves on the eShop. We're getting Guxt.

Nicalis has previously talked about bringing Guxt to the 3DS eShop, but I don’t believe we ever had an official confirmation that it would be happening. Well, now we do!

It sounds like the 3DS version of Guxt will feature a vertical display mode. That’s probably good news for fans of arcade shooters.

And for those wondering, Guxt (as well as Ikachan) will be cheaper than the eShop version of Cave Story.

I just finished beating all the levels (and medals) for Mutant Mudds. I really enjoyed it.

Anyone who likes action/platformers should check it out. The action and platforming feels like a Mega Man game, and the use of 3D planes and pacing/speed feels like VB Wario Land.

The game is pretty challenging, and while a death can restart you back at the end of a level, it's always your fault when you die. That helps the "one more try" feeling that drives me to overcome a level.

It's a nice bit of content for a download title. This is the first Renegade Kid title I've played, but I'll be on the look out for more in the future.

Nintendo, Sega is upstaging you on your own hardware. Get GB multiplayer working so you can sell me Pokemon Red again.

I was browsing "The Trenches" (the PVP/PennyArcade joint venture comic), and found an interesting little posting about WiiWare downloads...

Wii Want To Die

I was working as an intern, which means I helped out with all manner of work including some very strange marketing projects involving the Nintendo Wii.

The boss man sheepishly explained the situation: Nintendo only gives you the money for the sales of your game upon hitting certain sales thresholds, and our game was reaaaally close to getting there, but sales had slowed and we needed the money before the fiscal quarter ended. He had pleaded with Nintendo to no avail, so, with a Wii in his hands, he gave me the project from hell. Get the Wii friend codes of some people who would like our game, and gift the game to them for free. Sounds great! We aimed for 200 gifted games. . .

The message goes on to detail the joy the guy/gal had in doing friend code swaps and sending out free copies of the game.

I'm curious, though -- what WiiWare titles had free giveaways like this? I'm curious as to whether we can figure out which game this was. (As a bonus, they did it for the European release as well, it seems.)

I believe Tell Tale's Monkey Island games were given away at one point... I'm not sure if any others were ever simply "given away." I did get a few free games over the years, but I'm not sure if any others had mass giveaways.

Yeah this has been known for a huaile

If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say it was the Robin Hood game--I don't remember what it was called, I've never played it, I just remember they announced a really flimsy "competition" in order to give copies away which made me come to that same conclusion.

Indeed -- I'm just curious as to which developer it was. I don't recall anyone other than Telltale actually simply giving games away, although I feel like someone must have...

The Robin Hood game never actually got given away -- they, presumably, didn't get enough folks signing up.

I remember a while back, someone showed a screenshot that Ice Climber NES in Japan had Download Play to allow multiplayer.

No forget about those games, we already have better versions of the Pokemon RPGs.
When Nintendo get Pokemon on the VC they need to start with Pokemon Pinball and Pokemon Trading Card Game.

It would be nice if Nintendo allowed you to re-download VC games under the eShop you purchased on the Wii Shop so to play them on the Gamepad, but most likely they'll force you to re-buy them.

Wait a sec, isn't Zelda II supposed to release tomorrow on 3DS VC?

I'm really worried Ninja Gaiden is just off the schedule.

Why is Pushmo sequel coming next week for America and not this week.

Because NoA voted Romney. Or some variation of that... Either way, super pumped for Fallblox, as my avatar should dictate. Bought Hana Samurai yesterday, really fun little game. It's both sad and pretty awesome how eShop games take up the majority of 3DS playtime nowadays.

The US version of Gunman Clive has just been approved by lotcheck, so I'm still hopeful it might make it out this month or next month at the latest. I need to resubmit the European version though.

Congrats on the US versions, and 'Grrr!' on the EU one *shakes fist at cloud*

Whoa, I haven't been following this, which platforms? I thought your game looked interesting from the start, if it's in 3D then whoa! I'd probably get it on Wii U as well, I'm getting a Deluxe with the digital deal.

Great to hear. Looking forward to getting it again.
