I don't like digital comics. Anyone else with me?

I couldn't wait, Snyder and Capullo are both doing an INSANE job. Holy shit, just when you think it couldn't get any more insane. If the quality of this arc keeps up, it's gonna go down as one of the all time greats. Easily DC's best books. Aquaman? Wonderwoman? Shit ain't nothing compared to this.

I don't like digital comics. Anyone else with me?

I don't like the ridiculous prices of digital comics, and that the means of consuming them puts a premium on the cost of entering the hobby.

That said using my $99 touchpad and nefarious means - they can be handy.

I just grabbed all the issues of Glory I've purchased already in digital format as handy reference rather than digging out the issues.

Sadly most of the books I read run the risk of never making it to a collected format, so I need to buy the floppies.

Plus even for $99, I'm not completely cozy handling my touchpad when sawing logs in the bathroom. It's like taking a poop while carrying a Faberge egg on a spoon. I can only imagine how I'd be losing my damned mind with a more expensive media consumption device. :(

To each his own. TPBs and hardcovers are great, but I honestly have no desire to buy a single-issue "floppy" comic ever again; it's a lousy, flimsy, difficult-to-store format that's a relic from an era when comics were actually priced like disposable products, and buying digital both eliminates storage issues and saves me an errand.

This is me aswell. I buy TBPs, Hardcovers and Omnibus' but I buy single issues on Comixology. Part of the reason being buying multiple floppies on a weekly basis would just be too damn expensive here in Australia. I usually just trade wait and buy 1 or 2 single issues digitially to see whats up. Batman's the only title I'm following monthly. Maybe I'll add some Marvel NOW! books if there is something I really like.

And Batman #14. Dayam! Now gotta wait another month :(

I still believe the market can be shifted to please the corporations and the retailers.

Digital monthly comics ought to cost 99¢ a pop. They ought to be cheap and "disposable", and then if you want; you can purchase the nicely bound and packaged collected editions from your comic shop or other retailer.

The sad reality of comic shops is they order to sell out of issues, only special order titles for customers that ask for them by name, and many smaller shops are phasing out back issues. So shifting to a collected edition market wouldn't be too drastic a change from the way things are going currently, and it may actually open up resources for retailers to order a wider variety of fewer books so that you can find interesting new things.

Plus include several free digital issues with every damned comic book movie DVD/BRD, video game, action figure, any thing comic book licensed ought to come with a redemption code for some free comics to get people hooked.

how is locke and key. i hear nothing but good things. should i start from the beggining or can i hop on here.

do not read it out of order. start at the first arc (welcome to lovecraft) and go from there. each arc is broken up into 6 issues. tomorrow's release is the 1st issue of the 6th and final arc. it is as perfect a comic as you can get, so far. i have very high hopes for a solidly written, well realized and satisfying ending.

Don't plan on going digital unless it becomes much cheaper or a good subscription service is created. The space isn't an issue and physical copies actually have some worth. Plus I like the collecting aspect anyways.

Batman was good.

Synder really fucking nailed Bat's, Alfred's, and Nightwing's relationship in just three pages. Fuck man that was beautiful.

You're paranoid man. I carry my iPad with me nearly everywhere. On the toilet for sure, on the bus, in my bag, at work, at the doctors, in the garden, on holiday... I'm careful but not super careful, they're more robust than you'd expect. The experience of always have comics and books on me is far worth the risk to me.

Too expensive & I'm not hot on the fact you can't download them locally.

Taking a wait and see approach.

You do download them locally though. The files are stored on your device. They're not cbrs and I don't know if you can rip to a pc, but the files are definitely on my iPad, they're between 20 and 30 megs usually.

They are too expensive though for sure :(

I know they download locally to phones and tablets, but they're still tied to an account. The thought of being subject to Comixology's terms, which could seemingly change at any time, doesn't sit well with me. And if they were to fold, as unlikely as that sounds, makes matters even worse. It's the same reason I don't pump a lot of dough into Steam.

Though if they were priced cheaper there would be that "disposable" aspect to them.

Until then, I'm content waiting for trades. They're cheaper and the passage of time is a great determining factor for what's still worth reading.

Also, two trades into Criminal and loving it so far.

All New X-Men was alright. That preview being the end of the book makes sense in the context of the story.

Wolverine and the X-Men is still the best main X-book though. Issue 20 was great, and I even enjoyed the fill-in artist.

They better not keep releasing comics so early like that on Comixology. It shits on all the people who preorder comics and support them.

Unless you are sitting at you LCS first thing in the morning, waiting for the doors to open, I don't see how it matters.

So we allowed to talk about Heroclix up in here? Anyone else play it? Just got myself some of the newest set (Batman). Filled out a lot of fun teams. Birds of Prey, Gotham City Sirens, Wild Cats, etc.

Ready to take a Big Barda / Catwoman / Oracle team to town on some clowns.

digital comics saved my life

I like your style!!! Can't believe L&K is finally ending... :-(

So I've just read All New X-Men...

So Hawk is undergoing another mutation? What the fuck is he going to turn now??? First it was a blue ape man, then a blue cat man...I think the next step is a blue dinosaur!

Scott is really turning into the classic villain archetype.

"Do not let the humans dictate the course of your life!"

"Mutants are an elite species that deserves every freedom!" (Maybe even the freedom to don't follow human laws and do as they please?)

"I have too much to atone for...so I'll just attack everyone to do what I think it's right!"

On the last issue of Consequences Scott said that the prison director was to blame for him sending those inmates to die on Limbo...guy is getting delusional, he really believes all that.

That Storm getting angry panel was great! Immonem is just an awesome artist!

Overall I liked the issue. I just hope Bendis don't fuck up Wolverine like he did for 6, 7 years on avengers.

Also I love digital comics. They're the reason I came back. I wouldn't be reading a lot of stuff if it wasn't for then. But yeah, they should be cheaper...

If digital comics were 99 cents each I'd probably invest in a nice device and switch over mostly to digital. But yeah like others are saying they're too expensive and I like having a tangible thing for money spent. I still prefer physical media for everything besides music. And if I really love am album I'll get it on vinyl for collection purposes.

I do that brah.

Fair enough. Still, if you have a decent LCS, you are probably getting a 20-25% discount on your books if you pre-order enough. You might have to wait an extra 12 hours, but your physical copy is cheaper than the digital copy, and for Marvel books, you often get a digital code free.

The new Avengers Assemble might just be my favorite Marvel NOW book so far. There's finally an Avengers book that's fun in the same way Wolverine & the X-Men is.

Oh and I don't know if you guys saw this, but Joe Hill tweeted a link to the following story on io9:

Earlier last week, rumors were circulating that the cancelled TV series based off Joe Hill's Locke & Key comics, would be resurrected as a movie Trilogy. Today Bob Orci (producer behind that comic adaptation) seems to be confirming via his Twitter account that said trilogy WILL be happening. Hell yeah!

I'm so excited! Thank God some studio grabbed this after those dumbasses at Fox passed on the TV series!

Just read Batman #14, Snyder is on fire! Great issue!

Alfred is going to be the new Oracle, I'm calling it!

Guys, do let me know how Avengers Assemble and... well, the rest of the Marvel NOW! books are.

On another note, ASM#687 was pretty good.

Gambit #5 was pretty great. I highly recommend reading it.

Gonna stop by my LCS to pick up books today. Probably flip through some other floppies before I commit.

...At least All New X-Men has a digital code so I don't have to double-dip for it.

Deadpool I bought digitally because I was waiting for Skyfall to start, but I think it'll be floppies only due to the double-ship schedule.

I'm not excited for a Locke & Key trilogy written by these guys. Get some actual talent.

Hearing the new Thor is S.A.F.

Can't wait!!!!!

It's basically an Ozzy-era Black Sabbath song. I mean, it's not the most Metal thing in comics today because Frankenstein is still a thing for a couple more issues, but it's pretty fucking Metal. Just play Children of the Grave while you read it for maximum enjoyment.

That's almost dust jacket worthy.

In the absence of a Ghost Rider comic, Thor by default is the most metal superhero.

I prefer physical and buy the majority of phyiscal comics that come with a digital comic as well, I do agree though I would switch to digital mainly if they were 99 cents.

WatXM was pretty good. Some great lines from Warren and the last page has me intrigued

The dark angel thing is super interesting. Given what Beast said about Angel earlier, this is probably a reborn someone (maybe Apocalypse?) infused with energies of the Death seed.

She was partially freed in the most recent Exiles series, but she was still stuck in crystal. I'm sure Pak will explain how she got free and
became director of SWORD
