Is it just me, or is this thread way more Marvel focused than anything else? Just an observation I suppose.

There's no nefarious pro-Marvel agenda in Comic-GAF or anything, despite what some naysayers will have you believe. It's just that 1. people typically read more Marvel than anything else around here, 2. Marvel's making noise atm with Now and all these new number 1s. Go back to Comic-GAF threads from last summer and it's all Nu52 talk all day.

Like the thread title says it's Spanksgiving and we're spankful for all comics.

Just finished redeeming my Marvel Digital Comics codes.

All of them.

Going back to... March, I think. That's when they started putting them in their floppies, right? Anyway, here's what I'm picking up tomorrow:

Marvel Comics:
All-New X-Men #1
Gambit #5
Thor: God of Thunder #1
Wolverine and the X-Men #20

Other Publishers:
Conan the Barbarian #10 (Dark Horse)

Not a big week, but not a bad week either.

So Hawkeye is that good huh? I'll probably dive in when it reaches issue 10. Comics are like TV shows to me, I can't stand waiting for the next issue.

Imagine a hybrid of Waid Daredevil and Fraction Immortal Iron Fist. If that sounds neat, you'll love it.

Side topic:

if you think this thread is too Marvel-heavy, go buy a dc book and talk about it! All the big DC stuff right now, crossover "event" non-events, are the exact opposite of what i tend to talk about though.

Does Conan have any trades?

Bro, dive in. The water is fine, bro.

Also, I don't tell you guys enough that I love Hickman.

I gave up on Marvel about 10 - 12 years ago, they just pissed me off on so many levels. I just can't go back. Too much has happened at this point, I'd be too out of the loop.

Most of what's happened big event-wise has been incredibly shallow, you could jump back into to Marvel Now stuff easily imo and then just buy the best of the best in trades: Hickman's Fantastic Four, Uncanny X-Force, Waid's Daredevil, etc.

I usually just focus on certain runs for Marvel and DC. Working my way through Hickman's FF run and I'll wait until DotF wraps in Batman to read it. Going to month to month kills me.

Yea, waiting a month for Batman is murder but then you get the issue and it's all worth it. The book is like crack, probably my current favorite from the big two.

Yeah you can't talk about DC comics in here. I tried.

I'll talk about some DC comix with you bro. What's good? I basically read all the main Justice League's books (WW, Aqua, Bats, etc) and I think all the Dark books (JLD, Aman, Swamp Thing, etc). Never read any of the Superman, Supergirl, Superboy stuff past the first issue or two and hated em all but I was thinkin about readin the new Crossover junk cuz Rocafort is doing art on Superman now and his stuff was killer (read: wasted) on Red Hood.

This is one of the only books in the world NOT being written for trade. If you're actually interested don't let that stop you.

The point is not enjoying WAITING for the next issue.

Don't know how you can quote the post and miss that.

Hell, even I'll do this. It helps to have a giant backlog, but I'll stockpile issues of series I really enjoy just to read several of them in a sitting. Just because reading six issues of a book is just more satisfying if it scratches an itch.

With serialized entertainment, waiting is painful because you're started a plotline that's not gonna be finished for 6 months or more. Cliffhangers can't exist in an episodic book. If that's not how he meant it, then I apologize.

yayuh I have 13 issues of Batwoman, 7 issues of Orchid and about 4-8 months of almost everything backed up,I love it.

I'm the opposite of you guys. I find whenever I try to read big runs of comics I always burn out before I finish, which leads to a long hiatus in the middle. I love sitting down with a pile of assorted weeklies though and going back and forth between them til I've read em all.

Yes, but to be fair you're the opposite of most right thinking folks on most issues.

If we didn't have Australia, I'd say you were from the Moon you're so backwards.

Didn't know Hawkeye was episodic, I thought that much was a given when I asked about the series being good.
With that said, I like having padding between the issue I'm reading and the latest issue released.

Oh fuck that, I'd much rather have a huge backlog and read all the way through with no breaks or waiting for the next issue to hit the stand. I mean obviously you can't always do that but yea I love just being able to read a run from #1-finish.

Feels good man.

I tried reading through 20 years of Hellboy/BPRD and got burned out. I get you, Liquid.

To be fair, as much as I love the characters and world; Mignola isn't the best of writers.

His stories often read like uninteresting Wikipedia entries or Time-Life Enchanted World books. He has a great wealth of information on folklore and the arcane, but man - some of those stories are just so damn dull. :(

I prefer the short stories. The ones with Hellboy in Mexico with the undead Luchadores drawn by Richard Corben are top notch. We need more Hellboy stories like that.

That sounds amazing.

This collected in a trade?

Looks like Comixology pulled the trigger too early for tomorrows DC books.

I'm told by a good friend who works at comiXology that this is not an error, and in fact will be a regular thing going forward. Marvel books may or may not be moving to the same schedule of midnight EST releases.

In any case, we can say good riddance to the ridiculous 2PM EST DC delay.

awesome, will download and read tomorrow

I don't like digital comics. Anyone else with me?

To each his own. TPBs and hardcovers are great, but I honestly have no desire to buy a single-issue "floppy" comic ever again; it's a lousy, flimsy, difficult-to-store format that's a relic from an era when comics were actually priced like disposable products, and buying digital both eliminates storage issues and saves me an errand.
