PlayStation Mobile Thread of Indie Games, and Apps on Android/Vita

What's the one that looks like a Spectrum game, flat board and faux-futuristic graphics? Was that good?

Any new information about trophies? It has been said that the trophies will come if I remember correctly, so I hold off from buying them.

That video was PC, but it is the same code. Dev said it looks better on Vita do to dat OLED.

Been playing secret Futurlab PSM game, you guys are in for a treat.

Awesome. I'm excited. Both for Cobalt Runner and the new Futurlab game. Can you answer whether the game is meatier than their previous PSM games?

It's great to see some dev sticking to it. I've been tempted to make a game for it, but damn I loathe C#.

From the Gamescom sizzle reel it looked like a conversion of the PSP game. Wouldn't be the first PSM game built from the remains of a PSP title.

Which one was also a psp title?

Everybody's Arcade uses some mini-games from Hot Shots/Everybody's Shorties/Time Buster. Numblast is a reversioning of a PSP/PS3 PSN exclusive. Those are just the SCE titles. Hungry Giraffe, Cubixx, and OMG-Zombies are PSP Minis ports.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Sony harvest more of their under appreciated PSP titles into PSM releases. Stuff like echochrome, echoshift, Go! Puzzle, LocoRoco, Patapon, Patchwork Heroes, and Talkman.

I have a hard time believing Sony cares that much. Numblast was a good port (of a somewhat bland game), but Everybody's Arcade was a sad, sad joke.

Comparing PSM titles and iPhone/Android, especially when using PSM on the Vita just isn't right.

On the iPhone it's often a race to the bottom, on PSM developers can set their games at a more reasonable price. iPhone games would be 3-10 bucks if the market wasn't overcrowded with all manner of game companies, even big ones, dashing for the cheapest they can offer a game (which can also backfire, like with Punch Quest).

Development of new PSM titles also takes time/resources, as well as making sure your game runs on all of the devices.

But it's also wise to note that PSM developers don't set the price, Sony buys the game wholesale for a price set by the dev and then sells it at the price they want to.

Well, Talkman would make a very easy app, and they are porting over Lemmings.

They cared so much they hired some no-name company to port Lemmings.

There's no question that they have a lot of IP that would work on PSM, it's just will they bother?

Right or not, that's what Sony is competing with, with PSM. While I think people might be willing to pay a little more for a superior experience, so far it's a wash, sure you have buttons, but you don't have online leaderboards. And a lot of PSM's hope is on selling Sony phones with it, and it's directly competing with Android games/apps.

Perhaps a stupid question but does this now work with One X devices? I tried once a week and still got error code. Installed new APK and still error.
Didn't tried it again for three weeks.

As long as you pay the $99

Yeah i meant is it now completely open for anyone to make games, to which the answer was yes :) I have no intention of making a game. I wouldn't know where to start. One of my friends was going to make a game though, so he'll be thrilled at this news.

Pity they didn't include PSN integration with 1.00 though :(

Euro blog post on opening up the SDK

http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2012...-developer-program-launches-download-the-sdk/

You’ll be able to sell your games on the PlayStation Store for PSM and reach millions of PlayStation gamers around the world with a PlayStation Developer Program Licence, available on an annual basis for just £65/€80.

We’re working hard to extend the already wide reach of PlayStation Mobile by adding more and more devices to the growing list of PlayStation Certified devices.

Great to see the license is pretty cheap - i thought i heard £100. £65 is much better.

I am not sure if this will ever happen, but it'd be nice if they released the SDK for OS X.

In theory, it should be possible since it is built on Mono.
