Any Assassin's Creed 3 Wii U Reviews or Impressions?

I held off on the PS3/360 versions to see how the Wii U version turned out. I'm interested in the touch screen use and to see if it runs better than the other console versions.

Any impressions out there? I couldn't find any.

They're playing it right now on Giant Bomb's TwitchTV channel. Looks like Assassin's Creed, with the gamepad being the minimap

I am currently playing Assassin's Creed III on the Wii U. It runs great, there have been some frame rate issues, but these issues seem to be identical as they are in the PS3/360 version.

They're playing it at the moment, fps seems just as shitty. Don't know whether it is the stream or not.

Have you been in Boston yet? How does it run while running through the city?

It's awesome, I picked it up as well as zombiU.

Plays in 1080p and supports remote play, controller shows map, etc.

Game looks great and plays great so far. No slowdown and whatnot.

This is coming from someone who isn't a huge fan of assassin's creed so if you are a fan, you'll probably love it.

No way it runs in 1080p.

yeah no way

Do tell. I'm not jumping into the thread

Extremely frustrating missions (especially if you want to do 100% synch like I did), annoying/charmless protagonist, dull settings, and just plain not fun in general. Not to mention lousy control and bugs all over the place.

For all of its problems, even RE6 gave me more fun and run for my money. This, I wish I can return it but I bought the SE version and I can't sell the disc without selling the entire thing since the disc has the 'Not to be sold separately' tag.

so ac3 is a straight port like blops2 right?

guess ill get those on wiiu then

too bad darksiders 2 was ons teamsale for 17 euros

would have gotten the wiiu version otherwise..

they all just seem like such pompous douchebags.

Skip this game at all costs on the consoles, the frame rate is excruciating.

Only buy on a PC if you really must, the game itself is not so good.

Yeahhh.... No. I disagree. AC3 is far from a horrible game, I believe more people should play it.

Agree with this post as well. There's no doubt that some of its elements may be offputting even to veterans, but the world is still compelling, the presentation still first rate, and ultimately anyone who played through the other titles in the franchise ows it to themselves to see this chapter through to completion.

Haven't played the WiiU version, but it looks similar enough to the PS3 version on the quick look. Some of the Gamepad functions they describe (but haven't shown and almost certainly won't due to time limitations) such as quick weapon switching might alleviate some of the complaints leveled at the other console versions.

Edit:

Also untrue. I get that PC gamers accustomed to rock solid 60 fps might find this unacceptable, but the performance (at least on PS3/360) is comparable to all other AC iterations on consoles. If that's your benchmark I don't see any reason for performance to put you off.
Of course, if you have a gaming PC, I don't see why you'd consider a console version anyway.

Really? REALLY? Also no slowdowns? Ill hope someone with framerate tools chime in on this

should probably avoid any of the console versions. but even with the problems, it's fun to play on the ps3, so it should be fine on the wiiu. I'd still expect jaggies, breaks in frame rate, people talking without mouths moving etc

For context: Giant Bomb said they felt one of the opening sequences had a lower framerate than the 360 version. They noted this because they felt on the 360 this fairly scripted, controlled area was one of the smoother areas of the game. Hence noticing a framerate difference. They also felt the lighting was a bit more washed out. They didn't really go into it beyond that, and didn't play past the absurdly long tutorials to get to the proper open world environment.

And there's no way in hell AC3 is rendering at native 1080p.

EDIT: The framerate looked pretty mediocre from the footage I saw, in all areas. But I don't know how the console version plays to compare.

Weapon switching was never a problem on other consoles since you can easily assign each weapon to diagonal buttons for fast switching.
