PS+ for PS Vita comes next week with FW 2.00, games revealed (WOW)

I've gotta say this PS+ shot in the arm is revitalizing my interest in my Vita. I even grabbed a charge stand and the PDP Trigger Grips today at Best Buy on my way home from work. I recommend the grips by the way, makes the system feel far less cramped and more like a console controller

I read somewhere the triggers scratch the shoulder buttons. It's easily avoidable by putting a piece of cloth though. Let me know how that goes, I've been wanting to try those for a long time.

The piece that presses down on the shoulder buttons is plastic, so its basically plastic on plastic rubbing. I'm going to see if I can glue a piece of felt or something on them. Otherwise I'm already liking the way it feels in my hand. Way more comfortable if you play games that rely heavily on the sticks and triggers

You've got me interested now. The only complaint I can make about the hardware is the way it leaves my palms when I'm holding it, it feels like something should be there.

Man, I'm so glad I got the 3G version with the email app. Gonna be super handy. :D

do you not get email on your phone?

i think it's great that sony is making the vita more functional, but it's the same thing as the browser and camera — i just don't get the demographic that wouldn't have a more capable device already in their pockets.

but we shall see! i actually use the vita twitter app a fair bit because i like it more than any android equivalent, so maybe the email client will be really great too.

blown away that there are people in the world who'd think to get a vita before a phone worth a damn. but okay, i'm glad sony apparently knows what it's doing!

I don't know how much you pay for your phone where you live, but smartphones can be very expensive to have.

I'm on my sister's family plan. I don't have to hardly pay anything. If I bought a smartphone I'd have to go on another plan with data and would have to pay hundreds and enter into a separate contract.

So I'm good with my crappy old phone for now. :)

(if you're not from the US, you don't know how bad cellular plans are).

i'm not from the US but it's my job to write about them, so unfortunately i do know about your carriers (and you have my sympathies). i just figured that a phone would be more of a priority in most people's lives than a 3G-capable vita. like, that is not a cheap device, especially when you consider that you can get a totally decent smartphone (like an iphone 4, or with black friday coming up even stuff like a GSIII) for nothing upfront.

aren't you paying for AT&T data month-by-month on your vita, anyway? that's really expensive for what you're getting.

Are you serious?

The only reason I have a smartphone is because my work pays for it. I would totally rock a cheap prepaid otherwise.

-I use the 3G for Vita twice this year. So I only buy the plan when I need it.
-Can't really do that with a phone carrier.
-I don't really need a smartphone.
-I am one out of the 14 people in the US who benefits from the 3G in the Vita. Hooray!

next-gen is gonna be all about subscription systems, isnt it?

I can already see the big $100* price-point signs in front of PS4/720

*monthly fee of $60

Speaking of charging stations.. anyone know anything about this one? I like the design but no reviews at all on amazon

I think you're better off going with the official Sony dock. I got mine at best buy today for $14.99, you might as well pay the extra few bucks.

Also for anyone interested, the PDP grips don't block any ports, so you can drop it on the Sony dock when you're done playing and the system will charge just fine:

I have a 4G-phone, with unlimited internet..and I'm still quite excited towards the email app; though the wireless trasnfer to PC is what I wished the most.

That way if I'm on my Vita (even though is the non-3G model); I can still check my email and do other things on it.

well, take a look at smartphone sales vs PS vita sales and i think you'll see what i mean. one is generally considered more useful and normal to own than the latter. i have a wi-fi vita and love it as a game system, i just almost never use its online stuff (even though i carry a mifi everywhere) because every phone released since 2010 does a better job. considering the relative expense of the system, you don't think the vast majority of vita owners will also have smartphones?

yeah the switch on/off ability is good. you could do that with an ipad or something too, but i guess that is a higher upfront cost. glad to see that the 3G vita makes sense for someone!

also it just occurred to me that the vita now has a way better maps app than the iphone, which is something...
